In need of a french translation...

It's for my ''Keeping Fit'' assignment for my french coursework i'm doing. I just need to check how you'd say ''unicycling'' - would it be ''faire du monocycle''?
(''je suis complètement fana de monocycle'' is what I have now)

but it would be Faire du monocycle. You could say "j'suis accro au monocycle" - sounds abit better than fana... which just sounds lame... :)

You could also say "J'suis accro au mono" ("mono" is like uni), which rhymes and it's cool when it rhymes. But if what you want to say is Unicycling, it's just "Faire du monocycle".

Just a little precision: "accro" is a slang word for "addict" whereas "fana" is closer to "found of". But yes, "accroc" fits for what you have to say.

Quebec and everywhere else in Canada, is completely different.

In fact, I don't know anyone personally who speaks fluent French, and I only live 7 hours from Quebec.

no i meant what i said. People in quebec speak funny french. People in canada either dont speak french - therefore it sounds a bit funny when they do - or they can and usually its like people from quebec and they speak funny.

and even kevin mcmullin speaks pretty good french. He can definately understand french very well, and his speaking is pretty good.

J'adore le mono, et c'est mon activité préféré.
J'admet que je suis accro au mono, je considère que c'est mon sport favoris.
J'admet que mon monocycle est mon meilleur amis et que nous sortons souvent ensemble...
Je suis fan de mono, il est tous le temps entre mes jambes et j'adore ca.

And you know, actually we speak the real french, because ...can I speak french ? Puisqu'au début, avant l'arrivée des colons en Amérique, les Français parlaient un ancien français. Les Français qui le parlaient ont alors entrepris leur voyage vers la Nouvelle-France, et ont colonisé l'Amérique avec ce language, qui de notre côté c'est peu déformé, mais du votre (L'Europe), plus. Donc nous parlons une forme plus rapprochée du français de base que la vôtre...en tout cas, c'est ce que j'ai compris du peu de cours d'histoire du Québec que j'ai suivis ! :rolleyes: J'espère que vous avez compris mon "funny french", mais je peux vous jurer que mon anglais est encore plus "funny" !

yes zzzag you are somewhat unjust: I wage a regular battle against managers who use english words in a crazy manner ("il faut supporter le client!") and I try to write documents where almost all english words are adapted/translated. for this grand-dictionnaire.com which is a canadian institution is helping me a lot.
(for english speakers a side note: I am not against cross-language borrowings but against barbarians who do not know their own language:mad: by the way this applies also to people who are supposed to be native speakers of english and build crazy sentences that violate the laws of grammar/logic/communication)

totally agree with you on that.

Plus canadians use english for pretty much everything to do with cars and stuff, its weird :P
