Just wondering. What are people's favourite comedy shows and comedians? The shows are different in America I assume (some will be shown in both countries), but mine include:
-Ricky Gervais (the office, extras, live shows)
-Alan Partridge (episodes, knowing me knowing you, the day today...)
-David Mitchell & Robert Webb (that mitchell and webb look, peep show)
If you have never heard of these, I suggest you look them up on youtube for a guaranteed laugh :D .
So what are yours?

ChaseI've never heard of a single one you've mentioned, except maybe the last one; he sounds familiar. Are they "up & coming" comedians? The one's I listed are world famous and all are household names. They've paid their dues and have had amazing success. I guess i'll have to search youtube for the names above and check them out. *EDIT* I do remember Zach Galifianakis! HE is pretty funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qy9KvDtI5w

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Dane Cook is not, in my nothumble opinion, funny. He randomly interjects cuss words and exaggerations into his skits at the opportune moment to elicit laughs.
I've seen a funny skit or two from Mencia, and I loved a huge list of Hedberg one-liners I read awhile ago....but that's about it. I don't watch much TV outside of the nerd channels.

Who said anything about T.V. Alex I have most on my computer I like the cd's better normally. I guess you could think that way about Dane, but I still like him whatever suits different people comedy is not one size fits all.
Is it just me or can we all agree that Mitch is one of the best seems like everybody on here likes him.

I missed Hicks' name the first time around and was just about to suggest him.

There's this other guy that not many people have heard of that I saw on one of those Comedy Central Presents... things named Pablo Francisco, who did some the funniest bits I've ever seen.
His big thing is mimicking that deep movie voice...this is my favorite one:

I find Ross Noble very funny.
And Eddie Izzard used to be superb, but he seems to have lost it a bit recently.
I like that sort of random waffling comedy, rather than the people who just stand up and reel off a list of jokes.
Visual comedy is always good as well, or funny walks like Max Wall or Billy Dainty used to do.

 LTR please.
I know that's monty python (John Cleese specifically, hence my quote underneath (which was actually spoken by Michael Palin)), I didn't know who the people Rob mentioned are/were.
While I'm at it:
John Cleese
Michael Palin
Eric Idle
Terry Jones
Graham Chapman
Terry Gilliam

Here's a bit of Max Wall (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEYCZfBcHwg). He was getting old when I was growing up, but I remember him making a few appearances on the telly.
Billy Dainty was a similar old-school variety performer, who did all sorts of stuff, but his funny walk routines were excellent.
And yes, John Cleese did some good ones as well.
