The latest Japan Unicycling Association newsletter (No. 62 - Jan. 1995) contains
an article about UNICON VII and our Unicycling Mailing List. The article was
written by Jack Halpern, well known unicyclist and language expert. I've very
hastily translated a few of the highlights below. (I wanted to do a complete
translation, but I have neither the permission to send it to the list nor the
time to translate it.)
There is a picture of ten unicyclists, each holding up the flag of their
country. The countries listed in the article are America, Canada, Germany,
Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Israel, Japan, and China.
There is also a picture of Brett Bernard doing a side ride on a 6' giraffe in
his World Champion Freestyle performance.
In one chart, the racing, standard skill and freestyle champions are listed for
both males and females. In another chart, the 100m, 400m, 1500m and 30m tire
walk male and female champions and times are listed.
Constance Cotter is mentioned as the director of the convention. John Foss is
the new 30m tire walk champion. Javier Ruiz is the new 1500m, 400m and 100m
racing champion. Brett Bernard is the new freestyle champion.
The International Unicycling Federation business meeting is mentioned. John Foss
was elected as the new IUF President. The basketball and hockey rules were deal
with at the meeting.
Unicycling Mailing List article (actually just a paragraph of the
previous article):
There is unicycling information available by computer via the Internet. Subcribe
to the unicycling mailing list through Nifty Serve's [A large on-line service in
Japan] Internet connection at unicycling-request@mcs.kent.edu.
The article ends mentioning the possibility of UNICON VIII being held in
Germany.
Jack, please correct my hasty overview of your article, OK. I've probably missed
a few important highlights as well.
