Its that time again where David and I provide you with a ProjectUNI progress update video. The quality of the video itself is pretty terrible, blurry and choppy but it gives you an idea of whats going on with the game. Right now you can move crazy fast and catch huge air however that will be significantly toned down once we get the trick system implemented. It shows David and myself chatting and riding together in multiplayer over the internet.

I sorta like the fastness, just not that fast.
You certainly did catch mad air though.
Looks really cool. You say the video is choppy, so the game itself is alot smoother than that?

As long as you have a relatively decent computer the game runs as smooth as butter.

Is that environment original or did you take it from another game? It looks kinda familiar.
Its just randomly generated terrain. It didn't come from anywhere except math. The terrain never ends by the way, it keeps going.

Brian - I got the Torque exporter working in Blender, so I can successfully export any object.

make sure you dont tone it down too much , thps never got anywhere by beeing realistic

I say you should speed it up a little. I go way faster and jump way higher when I muni.

Will it work on linux?

Thats awesome, it was a pain exporting my character models haha. We arent quite ready for obstacles yet but should be in the near future and could really use your help if you are interested. If you can talk to me on aim: djabfall or email me at david.abfall@gmail.com so I can take a look at some of your stuff so far.

Yeah dynamic pedaling speeds is something I've been working on actually, right now theres one constant pedal speed but that will be fixed.

Ivan I answered that question for you in the other thread you asked. The first few alpha/beta releases will most likely be Windows only but the finished project will probably have a Mac and Linux release.

No, we will offer a 2:20 also.

I'd like to emphasize again that this is a very early preview of the game, we haven't made much progress at all yet as far as actual gameplay or game art. Nothing at all that you see here represents the final game.

Oh I'd also like to add that if you want to see more unicycle options feel free to model, texture and animate them for us. If they are any good we will add them in! :)

I finally realized im spending too much time working on this when my creation is better at unicycling than I am haha.

Not sure what you mean by format, I model them in Maya and then export to a .dts and the animations are in a .dsq.

Well we are thinking we want to have the crankflip done and polished with the ability to fall to add some challenge. So that puts it to be released in about 2-3 weeks, and yes it will be multiplayer so be prepared for mass amounts of people riding around doing crankflips and chatting it up!

The environment reminds me of a game called 1nsane.

Where you can randomly generate maps, and they never end... just a 256x256 I believe square, with white and black gradients to make hills.... very fun game.

Looks to be coming along very well, I'm surprised I missed this thread.

take a look at the program terragen. you can create your own 3d mountainous environments etc but you can also link it into topographical programs. so if you could find topo data detailed enough from certain areas you could add them in w/o having to model it all by hand/with maths. it would be sweet being able to ride on real mountains!:D

Edit: i downloaded maya again so im gonna try to do some sorta level. street of course. im thinking of using google earth images as an overlay so i can get sizes right.

this is what ive knocked up this morning. its loosely based on the park in shauns vids but with some other stuff added in. if you like it i can continue and make it bigger etc. i could work on trick animations as well if you want.

Well I showed the game off at our gaming conference, it was nothing big, our school sucks haha. But anyhow a lot of kids liked what I had so far, I think it was the most popular other than the kids that brought Halo 3 and a Wii, like any students made those haha, and they even had candy!

All in all I think it was a suscess, even if I didnt make any connections with companies.

Finally Brian is close to getting falling in and once that is done I think we have to release a beta like we promised since you all waited so patiently.

idk.. i think i'd rather have it be single player, and have it be a download-able game so that we can save our stats and stuff to our computers, and the get on the internet if we wanted to play multi-player.

i think single player with multiplayer capability is the way to go. otherwise youll get cues of people waiting to do a trials line or rail etc......actually, much like a real skate park! single player also allows for a higher poly count.

btw im modeling my car atm so it may be awhile before that levels done.

You would be surprised at how long some words are in other languages, that are simply only 5 letters or less in English.
