Imagine... One day you try to log on to unicyclist.com and it's not there. The page just doesn't open. You say okay, maybe the server is down. You try a few hours later, the same result. Next day - no luck. You come back a week later and unicyclist.com still doesn't work.

What would you do?

Unicycle and use the phone more.

rec.sport.unicycling would still be in place.

What he said. I'd probably start using the newsgroup.

But I'd definitely not use it NEARLY as much...probably would get more done in Blender/learning to program, maybe read/game more, and most likely unicycle more.

Currently, I don't read or post here much. So it wouldn't affect what I actually do on a day-to-day basis. However, I would very much be upset at the loss of our community. The good people here would not have a place to gather. I would miss everybody. And THAT would be quite a loss to me.

This is a good thread because it forces us to think about what we have -- and to appreciate our good fortune.

Someone should bake Gilby a cake.

It would suck if the forums weren't here...like Dave said, losing the community would be one of the worst parts.

I'd probably...be on the computer just as much, only doing other things. :o

Won't happen. With great power comes great responsibility. Gilby understands this as deeply as Stan Lee.

The much more likely scenario is he gets sick of paying paying paying and pulls the plug so he can start saving for retirement.

That inspires me to click the "donate" link.

Also, when you buy stuff from UDC,follow the link on this (http://www.unicyclist.com/?page=donate) page to UDC and they will donate a little bit of the earnings to unicyclist.com.

rec.sport.unicycling would still be in place....but not Just Conversation, or the webspaces, or the gallery, or the unicyclist.com e-mail service, or...The much more likely scenario is he gets sick of paying paying paying and pulls the plug so he can start saving for retirement....unless he finds ways of saving money. For instance, he could switch from vBulletin to free bulletin software like PHPBB, and save $85 a year.

Or maybe he could drop the gallery, that would save masses of bandwidth and storage needs. At the time unicyclist.com was started there were no sites like flickr or youtube, but now quite a lot of people don't bother with the gallery anymore.

Out of those 4 things, I only really use Just Conversation...the gallery never works for me, the webspace I never messed with (same for most people), and the e-mail service is always flooded with posts from threads that I'm apparently subscribed to against my will.

It'd probably help me manage my time better if just conversation were gone. :p

Good point GK, mate! I havnt used the gallery for ages. Since it was 'updated' maybe a year or so ago, I never got to grips with it...

If r.s.u was no more, I'd use the UK newsgroup :)

Gotta love Gilby for all he has done for us...
Three cheers!

What can one find it?

Yeah. =p I have a few friends who are on these forums, but dont post. They just like to read about what is new in street and trials, new parts if any come out, and events, so I know they will get my PM when they log on.
