View Full Version : Video Trick Clip Contest Number 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, so the video contest that went down a while back could use a repeat. i think there are many many new riders who are capable of competing in it
if i can recall, here are the rules
the first person does a trick
the second person does that trick then another trick consecutively.
the third person adds another trick
and another.... etc etc
rules are: no breaks in the video, no leaving the video frame, no more than 3 full pedals, no more than 4 hops between tricks, and nothing more than simple unispins or a crankflip that an average "good" rider can do. (i.e. hickflips= NO)
the only reason for the last one is to make it last more than 10 tricks and make endurance a big part (i think the very first one went 16 or 18 tricks)
I think thats it.
lets start it with a 180 unispin
after this you have to prove your achievements with a video.
just for laughs, here is the last contest winner: http://www.unicyclist.com/index.php?page=gallery&g2_itemId=223354

Video Trick Clip Contest Number 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are 13 exclamation points necessary?
Anyways, this game was kind of fun when I started it a while back (link is below), the only problem is that it gets boring after a while, because it is just the same tricks over and over. I would suggest bringing spencer's Uni Tricks Clips Game (link is below) back if any game is brought back. In that game, a person would post a 3-5 trick combo, and the next person would copy their combo and then film a new 3-5 trick combo (it wouldn't keep adding up).
Uni Tricks Clips Game (spencer's game) (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44975)
Add on Combo Game (the game that I made a while back that is similar to this one) (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47406)

All the tricks are ment to be quite simple so that most people can take part (unlike the other contest were only the better riders could) if hicks are considered too hard so should smallspins and 360 twists otherwise I could have just gone out and filmed a few hickflips and a 180 flip and then there are only a few people who could compete because straight away they cant do the trick and stand no chance of landing them after doing a series of other tricks.
I thought the idea of this competition was to take a few simple tricks and land them one after another making it hard but letting the riders who can only land those tricks still compete.

Thats lame. First of all a 360 hop twist is really easy. Almost anyone can do it and you can cheat a little on the hop and landing by just turning. And a static smallspin is just a 180 unispin with a bit of a body varial. anyone who can do 180 unispins or 360 unispins should be able to do it with a little practice. So theres no point to take out those two tricks if you leave the 360 unispin in there. I think you should leave it how it was. A smallspin is a very simple unispin trick and a 360 is just riding. Sparky i think you should refilm and put the seat drop at the end.
Edit: the lame isnt to your vid sparky (cause i wrote this before you posted) it was to the taking out those two tricks.

Skrobo said nothing as hard as hickflips (which is fair enough because it lets more people compete). I found hickflips easy to learn and It took me alot longer to land a smallspin and I can still barly 360 twist. So to me 360 hop twists and smallspins are harder than hicks and if hicks are "too hard" so should 360 hop twists and smallspins be.
timbob1907
2007-07-14, 10:33 PM
This is kinda supposed to be a competition... not a "see how many 180 unispins you can do in a row". If you say 360s and smallspins are too hard then what tricks are you going to do? the comp's almost over if you limit the tricks that much. Redo your vid with the tricks we did. They are a little challenging but so what? I know you can do them so do it.
torkerdx
2007-07-15, 03:06 AM
360's hard? HAHAHAHA
ok your little jokes over. stop complaining that you are getting pwned by an easy trick.
tim is still winning.
sparky- your learning curve is not the only learning curve. i can't crankflip (theirfore no hickflip) never tried small spin (you could land it after a couple of tries) and 360s i have been landing after 2-3? months of riding. so our 2 learning curves are completely different. 360s are way easier than hickflips. think about it. 3's you have to deal with spinning your body where as hickflips you have to spin and crankflip. (unless i am thinking of another trick)
one-wheeled-bozz
2007-07-15, 08:29 AM
yea i agree, put those back up. till last week i had never tried smallspins and got one 2nd try then as you see in my latest vid i do them rolling. i cant yet do 360's because i never bother with trying them but im sure i cld get it with in half an hour. this comp shld aslo be a learning game for new comers to the sport?
timbob1907
2007-07-15, 04:11 PM
Yeah thats what i mean. Not really new comers but people who havent bothered to learn these tricks. The hardest one is the 360 unispin. The other two "hard" ones would just take a little practice as you said. So lets continue the comp. Sparky you could add your seat drop to the end if you want but do it soon so no one takes your spot.
EDIT: okay now that we have almost a whole page with no riding lets try to keep the next posts on topic with new vids of the line.
sp4rky-m4rky
2007-07-15, 05:37 PM
Its looking very wet here for a while so dont wait for me to post a vid, I will do it as soon as I can but my pedals/shoes have almost no grip so I tend to land very little in the rain.
Im ok with the tricks I was just exspecting someone else not to be. One problem is, if you have just learnt a trick chances are you wont be consistant and consistancy is key with this.
timbob1907
2007-07-15, 10:47 PM
Well that sucks. Hope the weather gets better soon. I cant make the next vid but someone should.
Yeah consistency is needed but thats one of the points: to get people to go out and try to do better. Im not that great at smallspins (obviously) but I wanted to add it cause that way it makes me practice. So I think the real "key" is practicing so you are consistent. Not doing tricks that you can do easily and consistently.
skrobo
2007-07-16, 03:50 AM
i may make one tomorrow after work if i have energy, if not, i will sleep then make one.lol if i can do all of it. i have done smallspins, but i don't like them so much.
uhm
try to stick with the 4 hops
if you have to video it again, you have to video it again. tire compressions are fine, but hops= no
skilewis74
2007-07-17, 01:06 AM
IMO
If someone is going to go next they should post that they are and what tricks they are going to do, and nobody takes their spot.
Then they have 24 hrs. to do the trick, then film and post it.
Like they did in one of the previous games. It seemed to go real well like that.

There was a brief pause in the rain and the road started to dry out so I went out quickly, I got it but its very bad so I dont think I will put it up. It looks like it may stop again soon so I may try again before the forcasted thunder storms come in :(
I added another 180 unispin on the end of it to bring the seat back to being the write way round.

so whos going next then? anyone new going to start competing?
CKCrowe
2007-07-17, 08:09 PM
I think you should do 360 unispin as the most advanced trick, anyone can do 360 hoptwists before 360 unispins, there should be 4 hops alloud if you cannot crankflip, and 2 hops alloud if you can crankflip, but cant hickflip and for all who can hickflip + should get no hops, we should be advanced enough to do stuff like seat drops, twists, and unispins to use no hops, so it is an actual competition, none of the same tricks in a row. one rev inbetween, and then depends on what you can do for hops.
so a 360 unispin, to a 180unispin, to a 360 hoptwist, to a 180 unispin without hops, is same as a beginner doing that who cant crankflip with 4 hops inbetween, how does that sound?
so what are we at now? or should I just go make up one.
stuff like body variels and stuff are alloud, if the unicycle/the person spin over 360 degrees its not alloud.
so since 180 was used 2 in skrobo's vid, how about we start off doing 180, 360 180, since skrobo's brother did that, just not in that order, that makes it leagal.
Tricks not alloud with 360 degrees total (body and unicycle spinning added together.:smallspins, and inward small spins
anything not having to do with spinning gets 2 hops like seat drops, or supermans or things like that.
k, well im going to go see what is done so far, then make one off of that.
are those rules ok?
Edit:I think these rules will really test people, definitly the advanced people.

2007-07-17, 08:25 PM
sorry, I did one thing wrong, you are alloud to unispin (180) 2ce, because it is harder to 360 unispin, or do tricks with the unibackwards, so you "can" unispin (180) 2ce, so its
180
180
360
seatdrop
