From what I recall, hyphenation occurs at the syllable.

With a word processor, you can justify the margins and (almost) never need the hyphen.

However, if you do use it, I would put

exper-
ienced


However,

Experi-
enced

is not wrong, but I think it is clumsier.

It depends on whether you see the preceding syllable as "pe" or "per" and whether you see the i and e as totally different sounds or as a dipthong.

There does not have to be a single correct answer.
