jerrick does. just check local pet shops, and also check Maine laws. some states don't allow hedgehogs as pets.

The best place to start is Hedgehog Central (http://www.hedgehogcentral.com/). There is a Breeder's List link at the top of the page, which you can follow to find one in your area. Looks like there are none in Maine, VT, or NH...your closest one may be in Massachusetts.

We don't own one, but we've done a lot of research as my son wants to get one. They don't "ship" well, and you really need to start socializing with them right off the bat. If you drive to MA to get one, you need to plan in some time for bonding, and be careful around the length of time you are driving with the critter.

I have one at my house, but it is my brothers. He named it Kenya.

It is really cool. But scared of everything. It takes about 5 minutes before he gets brave enough to let you pick him up.

I've never heard of anybody keeping one as a pet - learn something every day. They're just wild animals round here. No weirder than having a pet rat I suppose.
