I hear really good things about Adobe premier elements. Under $100. I'm goning to get it because I'm so sick of MM constantly crashing and it's sooooo "buggy!"
Plus I want more professional looking vids and better editing tools and effects. You can even try it free by downloading it--you get the FULL version too, although it's only for a short time, but long enough to try it to se if you like it.

Here's a list of the better known freeware video editors. (http://www.freesoftware4all.co.uk/videoediting.htm)
The ones I've heard most about are Virtual Edit (http://www.virtualedit.net/home.htm) and AviTricks (http://www.bobyte.com/). I haven't used any of them for a real project.

That's what I was gonna say, anything is free if you want it to be...but that's not a nice thing to do. So...don't tell anyone.

on that note anyone know a free Linux video editing program? Or a windows one that works in Wine/Crossoffice ?
I got pinnacle studios, but with Corel Draw 12 they are the only things holding me back from a full migration....

I have bit torrent, and have been thinking about DLing some stuff on here... What is the virus risk? Is everything on Pirate Bay checked for virusses. How can I be sure something dosen't have a trojan?

You first have to download a torrent client, I use BitTornado, then you download a .torrent file and open it in BitTornado or whatever your client is, and it just downloads in the background of your computer.

I would guess no, since there is so much stuff.
But I'm pretty sure if there are like 50 seeders for a file on there then it's probably pretty safe from viruses.

Nah, you have to reopen it...I always download the .torrent file on to the desktop just for that purpose.

pm me, ill showya how to download adobe premiere pro.I just DL'd it from the adobe website, and it installed perfectly, but it's HARD to figure out!!! I'm so spoiled from using MM because it's just so easy to use first time out, with virtually NO tutorial necessary. It's just to unstable and buggy.:(

I just DL'd it from the adobe website, and it installed perfectly, but it's HARD to figure out!!!That's why it's the Pro version. You need Premiere Elements. Once you outgrow that, then it's time for the more complicated stuff.
The same is true with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements BTW. Photoshop is loaded with stuff the average snapshot-taker will never need, and that stuff can really get in the way.

I'll have to read the tutorial becasue it's plain hard to figure out.

No, it is not. It is not checked for viruses or trojans at all.
You can't trust the others in the "community" to scan the files either or to even alert the "community" if they do discover something nasty in a download. There are also plenty of clueless noobs who will continue to seed an infected torrent totally oblivious to the fact that installing the warez will pwn your system.
One of the statistics I've seen is that more than half of the Vista downloads are infected with something. There are also plenty of infections and trojans that won't get caught by doing a virus scan on the files after you download it. There are rootkits out there that won't show up in a virus scan. The landscape has changed. Rootkits have gotten much better lately and easier to hide. There are open source rootkits available now where you can modify and improve it to suit your needs. You don't need to be l33t to package a rootkit in a download now.
It also depends on the "community" that you get the torrent from. Some are better at keeping the house clean than others. The Pirate Bay isn't one I would trust to keep a clean house.
That's the state of warez. If you don't have a guinea pig system where you can test the warez on a system that you don't mind needing to wipe and reinstall then warez aren't for you. If you don't fully understand the risks, the community, and the methods of infection then warez aren't for you.
