How many of you have suffered through a longer term relationship break up? I know what I'm going through is nothing compared to what many other people have to live with but it sure does hurt. I was with a girl for three years and she just left me an hour ago. During our relationship we both matured a lot and it helped us develop. Now with it gone I feel like I've lost a large portion of who I am. I'm a bit distraught and am in the process of trying to recollect my state of mind.
Share your stories so I can drown myself in your sorrows rather than my own.

I had a few relationships of similar lengths end before finally meeting my life-partner when I was almost 10 yrs older than you are now.
You're hurting and it probably seems awful now. It'll get better slowly. Other fish in the sea and all that.

Stories are great, but don't forget that breakups are the reason this stuff was invented:

Just post her E-Mail , cell phone number , home phone number , mothers phone number , work number , pager , photoshopped pictures etc...
You could have fun with this.... Then again we could have fun with this, heck what are friends for.
wasn't the internet created for things like this ;)

You forgot your obligatory mention of John Foss.
Brian O. I feel for you. But I do know from personal experience that it will be better in a few days.

Also very illegal. Called Harrassment, and the things people might do with that information could get out of hand. Plus, the kid obviously likes her still and theres a good chance they'll get back together.
Give me your phone number and i'll show you what harrassment is. (I GOT vonage WOo hoo woo hoo hoo.)

All he has to do is hop the border and hes legal here.
But yeah breakups are a bitch, in june/july I broke up with my now x girlfriend. We hadn't been doing out thaaat long but what made it bad was that it wasn't that we didn't like eachother or that we got the other mad it was that she was moving back to her home in South Korea. It really sucked alot because of course I still had feelings for her for quite a while and we had been friends for quite a while before we started going out.
Fortunatly the weather was good and I was able to spend about every chance I got unicycling. Unicycling is what got me through it all, that and some good friends that always kept me in good spirits.
The best way to beat a break up is to just devote the time you would have spent with her to doing something else you really enjoy. Alcohol isn't really the greatest thing though since it will likely make you more depressed about your situation, I actualy made a point of not drinking until quite a while after we broke up to be sure I wasn't drinking out of sadness.

Wow I'm sorry to hear it, that would definitely make it all the more painful with both of you still wanting to be together.
Good advice, I'm going to be getting a lot of riding in though I'm also in a spot where I'm getting tons of school work lately and now my mind is just totally wandering.

I would!

I broke off a LTR last year and it was pretty tough... but then I realized it wasn't so much a loss as it was just a change. A new chapter in life. Once you realize that change is the only constant in life, and that each change brings you to face many new possibilities, then you'll see you're not so bad off after all.
The best way to beat a break up is to just devote the time you would have spent with her to doing something else you really enjoy.
This is the best advice. Find all those things in your life that make you happy (besides your ex) and indulge in them. Spend time with your friends and family. Celebrate single life!
Did you consider moving to S. Korea with her? I would!
You dog! What would Ethel think about you running off to Korea with some teenager's recent ex?

A crankflip can't bring you breakfast in bed.
You can't take a crankflip to a social, a dinner or a club.
A crankflip won't rub your shoulders after you've had a tough day.
You'll likely bust your face if you try to kiss a crankflip.
It's okay if you don't like girls, JJ, but don't think they'll ever be replaced by crankflips. I'm sure Shaun would agree.

I think JJ meant that crankflips were better than girls who don't care about you anymore, which in that case would make his post true, unless your ex's do all that stuff you listed for you.

Oh, it's like that movie Fever Pitch where the guy is OBSESSED with the Red Sox, and then he finds a girlfriend, and he has to choose, and the little wise boy says, "You've always loved the Red Sox...but have they ever loved you back?"
It's a pretty good movie.

What crowbar, mate you want to borrow my crossbow or scorpion to protect yourself from women. It's how i never see my ex ever again. She's too terrified to come within distance of me if i have my scorpion with me. :D :D :D

Interesting choice of beverage.

Or are you allowing for an element of self-flaggelation after the break-up?
Brian, I go with the Hootie-Drill
Sit back down,
Have a beer (root- in your case)
And feel sorry for yourself.
Then, when the beer is finished, get up and get on with your life.
It was a relationship you invested three years of your life in, you have to acknowledge that and 'mourn' for what you've lost, you also have to keep it in perspective and not allow the misery to take over your life. Hence the 'beer', obviously metaphorical.
YNWA.

If you really want to get over the break up, just understand why she broke up with you. Maybe it was because she was a bitch and couldn't stand ruining your life any more. I dont know, thats why you need to know. It will help.
And on another note. You guys let your signifigant other in the kitchen!? Mine is banned from the kitchen. She set ramen noodles on fire. With an electric stove. She hadn't added the noodles yet. Dont ask. Closest I gte to breakfast in bed is poptarts or a can of Dp.
