im buying my first unicycle either Qu-Ax or Torker-Dx for doing street but i can't work out which 1 i want so can you comment if u have any suggestions on which 1 i should get... i weigh 68 kg so which would be the best for me?
thank you for your suggestions

You'd wanna get the DX. They both weigh about the same, but the Qu-Ax has 145mm cranks, which are harder to do crankflips on, harder to pick up speed, etc.

I agree with mawesome on this one. Considering i have a Torker DX and am very satisfied with. It can take a beating and still beg for more. Also i have been on a Qu-Ax and don't feel that satisfied as i do with my DX. It's value for money i guess.

id say get a quax with 127mm cranks order it off udc and specify you want 127s youll be happyer than if you bought a dx because the quax is stronger

lol fainally someone who dares kncok the DX. not sure about the 127mm cranks though... personally i'd say 140mm or 137/135's are better, but its all choice... pick what you like they are pretty similar.

I think it's also how daring/challenged you feel. I once tried riding my DX with 110's. It's scary fast but scary hard to control. :D :D I'm thinking of doing it again. Cause it was scary fun. ;) :D ;)

Where exactly did you get 110mm cranks that fit the DX hub?

They are strong.

Just because a couple people broke multiple frames, people think it's not strong.

Well, some may still argue it, but the new (07) DX frame is stronger. The Seattube was spliting off the crown. They now have a collar to keep in on there. I have one of the new DX's and love it. However, I believe the Qu-Ax would be better for street due to the closer frame clearance. The DX has a HUGE amount of clearance between the crown and the tire. This makes gliding and tricks of the like harder.

I can tell you now. My torker DX is probably the most indestructible unicycle i've ever had. :D :D Damn, i love the beast.

so it doesn't really matter that much if i get the 06 in stead of the 07 because i can get the 06 model from my local bike shop and i would have to order the 07 over the net i was just want to no if i really need the 07 model... but thanks anyway

There's isn't that much difference between the 06 and 07. It's just that the 07 has had minor upgrades.

tricks on the frame like gliding, stand up wheel walking and others are freetyle tricks not street.

no it will not. the people that break them are just really hard on their stuff. Unless you can routinely bend steal by jumping on it, you are not going to break it.

Have you had both the 06 and the 07 and broken the 06? Can you confirm that that 07 is a lot better? I've had two 06's since they came out and neither has broken. I actually prefer the 06 frame over the 07 because it has less clearance over the tire. If you get an 06 and for some reason you manage to break it Torker will just send you a new one anyway.

lol its just alot of people have broken the 06 frame showing that there was/is a manufacturing/design problem, i'm sure someone explained it before with pictures actually.

SO its abit silly to recomend a product that has been known to fail. So my advice just said to try stay away from the 06 if the 07 was available...

and thirdly i live in europe so make ur guess wether i've broken a dx or not :P

Well then my point is don't make such extreme claims as "the 06 frame will berak way too easily though. honestly try get the 07 its alot better." unless you yourself have experienced it and know for a fact. The DX, both 06 and 07 is an incredibly strong unicycle. Tons of people have the 06, only a few have mentioned having problems with it. Nowhere has it been proven that the 07 is a lot better, Skrobo said hes already tweaked his 07. Either way they replace the frame and you might as well go with the one that has lower clearance.

brendan

or go with a qu-ax that has no frame problems :P

that was my point lol, just chill out :P

so even the 06 DX can be replaced by torker?

how do u do that?

just call them?

do u need some kindof warantee that comes with the uni?

err
wth
get the quax
more than a couple of people broke the 06 frame, doing tricks that aren't huge or insane.
the DX is a pain in the arse, sorry, thats all there is to it. I have messed up literally EVERYTHING on my DX.
EVERYTHING
i know for a fact that I would have been much happier and would ride much more if I had a quax

I will ALWAYS say "get the qu-ax" over pretty much anything else in the price range. I have a Qu-Ax 24" MUni. The thing is fucking bombproof. It's virtually impossible to mess it up, it rides REALLY well (WAY more comfortable than my Torker CX), and the huge tire basically adds a few inches to your wheel size, which in my opinion is a good thing. But I can't do any intermediate tricks even, so my opinion isn't worth much.

But at least I can spell.

This is my humble opinion, I read a lot online about this discussion, and asked a couple friends. In the end I bought a qu-ax. I am not a very good rider, but my uni takes a beating. I have had it for nearly a month and have taken it off of many 4 foot drops, and a few 5 foot drops. (side hop as well as rolling). These were from concrete to concrete. My Uni has held up extremely well, it has had nothing go wrong, and don't expect it to break any time soon. I do not have a DX and have never ridden one, but would definately recommend a Qu-Ax to anyone who is intermediate to advanced.

Peace,
John

The DX is pretty strong for its price. Thats not saying much though. I am not exactly partial to my Dx right now. I know lots of people have the DX and i know a lot of people are very happy with it but i bend the hub/cranks last week and i have decided not to replace them. i have decided to go the KH route. I would however recommend the DX to anyone who doesn't plan to go off any thing too big.

I do 8 foot drops a lot on mine, and daily I do drops 4-6 feet. My cranks are still as straight as the day I bought the uni. Go Torker!

Ive heard they have fixed most of the bugs on the torker DX, Ive hit huge drops on it, and ive done some pretty nice tricks on it, working on treyflips with it.

how in the world did you bend the hub?
if it isn't 1 year old (im guessing it isn't) it should be warranteed. I ride the same hub, and I havn't bent it yet. taken it off multiple 9'+ drops, several stairsets that are stupidly huge, and broken everything else on the uni. you need to learn to land if you bent the DX hub (looking at your video you definitely shouldn't have). send it for warranty.
my hub does have keyway slop.

I said that i bent the cranks/hub but I wrote that in kind of a hurry. My apologies. The cranks shift on their splines and its not just that they need to be tightened. there is actually movement in the cranks. I dont know all the things that are wrong with my wheelset but there are several. Also I bent a few spokes last week.:)

On my old uni (torker LX) i striped the threads on the crank where the peddle screws in 10 mins after i got it. after about 6 months of riding on it i went through a total of 9 crank arms. i have a box in my garage as a reminder of why you should spend more for quality.
I understand that my experience is not normal and that most people are having a great experience with the dx. I have 3 friends that have no problems with theirs. I actually considered for a while getting replacement part from torker but because now i have a job i opted to go for the KH like i have wanted to for so long now.
2 days ago i sold my DX to my friend. i told him what was wrong with it and he still wanted it. the "bent" cranks dont make the uni un-ridable.

Enjoy your torkers guys:cool: haha

Sounds like your LX was the victim of the classic Petals on the wrong side syndrome; a deadly but preventable disease.

edit: Sorry didn't read the post very well, did you have the same problem with all the cranks? And use the same petals each time? In that case you probably had petals with undersized/bad threads.

I don't know why people are still buying DX if they have money for Qu-AX/KH/etc.

There is millions thread about "The TORKER DX is crap"

Did you ever saw at least TWO threads on "Qu-Ax worth nothing" or "Kris Holm
unicycles worth nothing"

Anyway, it's your problem if your buy a DX, then you break each part and replace them after. So, if you buy a DX, you will replace almost each part so it will cost as or almost or more (I did not calculate) as a Qu-ax or Kris holm...

Well i've had my DX for over a year now and it hasn't snapped at all and this is after i've gave it a beating. It's like it begs for more. :D :D So i'm happy with my choice.

That was the problem the first day. I made sure to tell the bike shop that so they would not make the same mistake later but i fixed it on my unicycle that day. when i bought some better pedal then the problem slowed down but it did happen one more time.
