You know what it is when you have a song stuck in your mind. It can get really annoying when it's a song you particularly dislike.
One tip I use is to replace the nasty song with a song I love.
Do you do the same? wich song(s) is(are) your cure against nasty songs?
I used to cure my brain with "since I've been loving you" from the Led Zep', nowadays I prefer "ride on" from AC/DC, but there are others I can't put my finger on at that time.
Please, give me some songs to clean my brain;) !

I concentrate on the nasty song, and sing it in my head...and then it goes away in a few minutes.

I usually just listen to some Merzbow, the song Dangermix usually gets any bad loop of a song out of my head.
EDIT: Most any Merzbow song will get any other song out of your head.
Check out Merzbow samples here. (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_m/102-0358713-0930502?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=merzbow&Go.x=7&Go.y=14&Go=Go)

I don't recall how that song goes. Can you hum a few bars for me?

From what I've read on the internet, bad songs don't stick to the heads of good people.
There's a solution in there somewhere....
First I thought this thread was about the band The Cure, like they were having a big concert fundraiser against nasty songs.
On stage: "OK people, we're all here against nasty songs, if we reach our fundraising goal, we can actually eradicate nasty songs from the world. Let's do it for the children, for the next generation!!!" WooOOoo

What I try to do is to not listen to really bad songs :) It's fairly simple. And I dont get why people put all these really really bad songs that they hate on their ipod, doesn't really make sense.
If I do get a bad song stuck in my head I just put on a song that I like, or listen to the radio, soon you'll forget about it.

From what I've read on the internet, bad songs don't stick to the heads of good people.this means that either I'm not a "good people", or there are good songs I don't like...
Maybe both statements apply to me:D

What I try to do is to not listen to really bad songs It's fairly simple. So you can't listen to the radio... and sometimes one of your relative whizles (sp?) some random tune, not knowing the damage it can generate in your mind. How can you deal with that?

And I dont get why people put all these really really bad songs that they hate on their ipod, doesn't really make sense. As a former mobile/party DJ I am "fortunate" to own music that would make the average listener cringe.
And this was in the days before iTunes and broadband, so I had to go out and buy CDs specially to get those songs by Aqua, Steps, the Backstreet Boys, S Club 7, Gareth Gates, or whatever artist was the current cheese flavour of the month, just so I could satisfy the kids' requests and get them off my back.
At least I got paid for it!!!

By trying to stop thinking about the song, you have to concentrate on the song, defeating the purpose. But if you let the song come out, then you'll naturally get sidetracked anyway.
