The 05-06 KH ones (I think) have the same specs as the nimbus, except they only came with 36 holes and had "Kris Holm" on them.

That's probably the reason. Nimbus is kind of the "home brand", so it's cheaper than other branded products.

Nope, the widest 19" rim is the nimbus, and the widest 24" rim is the KH (42.2mm).

Unless you want to shell out for a large marge or try and find a ZHI rim (I think the most holes they have are 36), I'd say the Nimbus is a good choice.

The newer Qu-Ax rims are 48h, have eyelets and are super wide... I'd have to look up how wide they are exactly or send Egon (Qu-Ax) or Roland (Municycle.com) a mail but I'd say around 42mm like the Nimbus... I'll run a check.

it doesn't say anything about eyelets on the QU-AX, and they are apparent on the Nimbus rim, but not the Qu-Ax. the rim is also skinnier than the nimbus by 4mm.

Yeah, Nimbus is the house brand for UDC. One thing to remember is that just because something has eyelets, that doesn't mean it is stronger than a rim that doesn't. Eyelets are used when a manufacturer wants the wall of the rim to be thinner to reduce overall weight, hence having to put in the eyelets to make the rim stronger at the spoke holes. The QU-AX rim could have a thicker rim wall, therefore not needing eyelets. It could very well be stronger than the Nimbus. Also take note the shape of the Qu-Ax rim. It is very similer to that of a Sun Mammoth rim...an extremely strong design. This is the rim we would prescribe to bicycle riders that exceded 250 lbs at the bike shop I worked at. Keep this in mind, but ultimately call up UDC. I have met them in person and they will sell you what is best for you, not try to promote their house brand, so that isn't something you have to worry about. Best of luck in your purchase.

The Nimbus trials rims on UDC are the 2005-2006 Kh rims, without the groove in them where the sidewall would bend and deform.

These are the super light, super strong Kh rims, but they say Nimbus.

No...its the exact same as the old kh rim. Only the first ones had the groove and that wasn't supposed to be there. The broken ones were replaced and after that all kh rims did not have the groove.

this rim is SUPER strong
i had too little pressure in my tire and did a 4 ft drop... and it didn't do anything to it, jumped over the sidewalk gap in my video, landed 90* and nothing happened
I like it a lot
but its NOT 42mm wide like they advertise
my friend's quax 24" 38mm rim looks wider than it.
its ok though... i havn't had a problem w/ folding the tire.

just an update, i basically messed up a 270 unispin, right next to a fence, and kicked the crap out of the rim, with all of my weight, and it broke!! HAHAHAH just kidding, i really did do that, but my seatpost just twisted. the rim is so freaking strong, i love it. my old rim(05 DX rim... 20" double walled sorta skinny) was slightly bent , but this one is straight and true, and I have done 2x as much "bad stuff" to this rim.

There are a couple bike trials rims out there that are 48mm wide, and I think I heard of one that was 50mm wide. I'm pretty sure that they were 32h though.

i bent the stupid thing
4-5 foot down, about 10 feet forwards, handle slips, uni doesn't go anywhere, land sideways on seat, bruise buttox, bend rim, don't notice till you get home. and I can't find my spoke wrench to fix it.
