View Full Version : Help downloading Shauns movie?

Ok, I've tried everything. I've tried every download link posted in Shaun's movie thread, and they all do the same thing: downloads to about 30% then says it's "completed" when it's really not. I tried using the download accelerater mentioned in that thread, and it doesn't help either.
I thought watching it at www.unicycle.tv was working, but that always plays for awhile then suddenly resets back to the begining with the 'play' button grayed out.
So, am I doing anything wrong maybe? Some obvious thing I'm missing? I'm going crazy reading about it and not being able to watch the whole movie. (I was able to download some of the first part, but never more then that)
Try the mirror, maybe? Or using GetRight?

Are you using IE?
IE sometimes has difficulty downloading large files. A fix is to make sure that your IE cache size is big enough to hold the file.

In IE7 it's in
Tools >> Internet Options >> General tab >> Browsing history section >> Settings button
I don't recall where it is in IE6. It's in a similar place under Internet Options.

Tools > Internet Options > General tab.
Go to the Temporary Internet Files and click on settings. It will show how much you can use, and allow you to set it higher or lower.

Well there's a Settings button under the Temperary internet files section, that lets you set the file size of the temperary internet files. Is that it?
It was already set at something like 2000 MBs though....
Thanks.
Edit: Oh okay, thanks Jerrick. Hmm, it was already set at 2100 MBs, so I'll bump it up to 10,000 and try again I guess....

Did you try right clicking the link and saving to desktop instead of clicking the link?

Im uploading it to Megaupload.
That place gives fast downloads. Then Ill just post the link here for you to right click and save it where you want to save to.
The version of the vid I have is the DivX version.

Didn't work. The whole thing "downloaded" in about 5 seconds.
I've right clicked/save target as, left clicked and done "open", and left click and "saved". It all does the same thing.

Have you tried going to Tool, Internet options, general. And in the temporary internet files, delete them, and all offline files too?

Yep, yep, and yep. I've tried everything I can think of. Why the heck can't I download this stinking movie? I can't even watch it all on unicycle.tv!!

Sorry for dropping out there. The Internet went out (again). It has been unreliable since the wind storm.
I was able to download the video from the original link using the last freeware version of Net Transport (http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page9.html). It works well for me. It got the entire file even with a couple of interruptions due to dead Internet. It can pause and resume downloads and can do multiple threads to speed up the download.
Net Transport can also download some streaming audio and video formats. Handy little downloader program.

It worked great! Thanks! Now I can go through life knowing I didn't miss out on anything. :)

Woot!
Net Transport is quite handy for downloading larger files and also for capturing some streaming audio/video formats.
I had my own bad luck with downloading the video. The power went out, then the cable internet got all flaky. The world was conspiring against me to get it downloaded. I finally got it this morning.

If you're on a mac, the google "flip4mac" and install the free codec, then you can play any .wmv file. Also, I think Olarf uploaded a quicktime version here (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?p=659356#post659356). unless you want to download the whole thing again though, I suggest the flip4mac thing.

Oh I see. Then either get the quicktime version or the .divx version cause they are smaller in size. This way it wont take as long (still long though).

There is also the Torrent, I'm currently the only one seeding it though so if someone would like to help me seed that would be nice. I currently have one person from the states and one person from Croatia downloading from me.
