not really up for youtube to be honest and tried the gallery but wasn't working. Vodpod offers the best quality as well.
Will try and get it up in the gallery soon.

Good job I run my own e-mail server and can create new addresses at the snap of my finger, and delete them if they become an inlet to a torrent of spam.

As for the video, it's a very well edited bunch of clips and it's certainly nice to see some Muni in it as well. I'm thinking along the lines of "UK invasion today, UK Defect tomorrow?".

Woohoo! Iv been waiting for this for soo long!
Was quality! I loved your section Jas! You've got some skills!
Can't say I enjoyed the music though, but each to their own. It certainly sounded like it was "Reppin' britun innit!"

It's certainly nice to see some Muni in it as well.

I thought it would be mostly Street/Trials kind of stuff, plus my trials uni was out of action for a bit, so I decided to film some Muni. Its not the most technical or hardcore, but im thinking about making a British Muni video. I think Muni is very under-represented in the UK and in my opinion, is one of the most fun forms of unicycling! Maybe thats something to think about when I actually have a video camera thats not broken!

Rock on!

cheers edd, your section also rocked.

I wanna hear some feeback from some other british guys, mike, amanda, sponge, leo and whoever else that whats to comment, even Roger.
Also wanna hear some feedback from everyone else whether you're french, german, dutch, american, japanese, australia, jamaican, whatever. Infact I wanna hear atleast one comment from each nationality...well, maybe not jamaican.

GREAT VID!!
The only low points I can think of:
I thought a couple of people's segments were short, esp. Amanda's. I was hoping to see some trials and street from her.

Lucas' trick off the pallats where he did that crankflip wheelgrab to uni loop thing was cool:cool: Does that trick have a name?

That was a really nice video, nicely edited too. I enjoyed all of it. I loved the dales section and Jas' 540 unispin rocks. I gotta' try that again. I agree freestyle section was to short, but remember it's hard to get people to film when they have other commitments.

I like it, the only downside was that it was a bit short, and way too street orientated. A reasonably healthy balance of muni/trials/street/freestyle and anything else would be awesome.

Still, it was good. I just wish more of us could get footage to Jason, :o, other things really do get in the way. But, at least there is great talent in Britain, we're not totally useless at unicycling, its a small country. It's a numbers thing as well...

How many serious trials/street riders in Britain? No more than twenty at an absolute maximum. Taking this into account, Britain's pretty decent.

Almost forgot!: thanks Jason, for spending your own free time to make this video for everyone. I can say it was a success. :)

Cheers sponge, thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed throwing it together and filming for it. I also enjoyed communicating to all the riders and getting to know a couple of them abit better. I was also happy to see the level of riding in Britain. There are some great riders here, like you said, many that aren't included in the vid, they hopefully might turn up in a follow-up vid.
I'm glad to hear that all so far are enjoying it. I know some of you aren't happy with giving your email address, but is only so that you can have an easy to remember user name, the guys at vodpod don't believe in spam.
A couple of you are disappointed with the length of the vid. The vid started off as just a quick online vid by me, dale and edd. It turned into a kind of british phenomenon so short footage of other riders was added. I don't believe British riding should be judge purely on this vid. Alot of riders have other commitments at the moment, hopefully if the chance to do another british vid arises, more riders will specifically go out to film for the vid. It might turn out to be a full length vid, similar to shauns, until then I don't see the title "British Defect" fitting, although it is a huge compliment.
Thanks for all the great feedback,:D

You don't receive an activation email. It lets you straight in!Well Edd, I hate to say that you're wrong, but... you're wrong.

It did send me some sort of e-mail. I have proof from my e-mail logs...2006-11-12 19:59:45 1GjLUX-0003Ay-Bo <= no-reply@vodpod.com H=(www.remixation.com) [75.126.13.26] P=esmtp S=2133 id=45577cf1ad1eb_2ae8..fdbfee3a446ee@www.remixation.com.tmail
2006-11-12 19:59:46 1GjLUX-0003Ay-Bo => gkm <vodpod@SPAMCENSOR> R=localuser T=local_delivery...but I can't remember if it was an activation link or not.

Anyway it doesn't matter now, since if in the unlikely event that spam does arrive to that address, I can magically make that e-mail address vanish with a few keypresses. Running your own e-mail server is so enlightening!

2006-11-15, 10:13 AM
It sent me an activation email, but when I clicked the link I just got an error message. Not that it matters since you can watch without it anyway.

I really liked the vid, especially Joe and Trevor's parts. Seeing vids like that makes me want to get a trials uni!

hey. can you put it onto youtube or the unicyclist gallery?

amanda.gallacher
2006-11-20, 06:19 PM
though i had already replied to this... was a cool video, would be cool in the future to have a video showing all the british riders made in as good a way as this. it reali was made well, good job!

To be honest, I can't understand what you like on that unicyclist vodpod.
There is a page for videos and its free from commercial stuff. Those Vodpod guys want to make money with their page (as youtube do). They ask many people for videos and they are not interested in unicycling or what ever, they only need content to show cause they have nothing.
I try to fugure out their upload policies but its needed to make an account to do that and I don't want to do that. Normaly they should be able to do what they like after you upload your video.
I hope I'm wrong but I think I'm right but feel free to do as you like.

Glad everyone is enjoying the film, I'm also glad that alot of UK riders are taking an interest. Haven't heard from so many international riders, guys, keep the comments coming.

Hey, is this vid somewhere FREE available? I don't wanna follow the prositution way and register an account on vodpod...

the registration isnt bad, you dont even need to activate your account.

They also dont send spam. I registered the day this came out and havent gotten anything from Vod being sent to me, or any spam form anywhere else. I even checked my junk mail to see if anything got automatically sent there. Theres nothing.

To answer your question, I don't really wanna put it on youtube, for most of the reasons said in the past but I have tried the gallery a couple of times and it isn't working for me. I'll try again, but unless unicycle.tv wants to post it, it might not be possible.

Sorry for the incoveniance, hope everyone has a chance to see it eventually.

Hi all together,

For sure I will host it and I think it can happen tonight or tomorrow morning.
We are very close to the point when we can offer a public upload on UTV for all of you. I think that will be a final step to make it easy to use for all of you from all sides :)
We also plan to add flash as third format and make an RSS feed and maybe podcast subscription optional for those who like.
We will also make some more HQ streams possible cause HQ format is maybe boring to download but great to watch :)
So I will look for the file now to make him online.

As always the movie is availiable as wmv (http://www.einradtrainer.de/demo/klownlife/bivhq.wmv) and mov (http://www.einrad.tv/mov/movie/england/biv.mov) file.

awesome stuff like! I cant believe some of the stuff you are doing now, its insane! Cant wait to ride with you sometime soon! Same goes to the rest of you, I think not being on here seeing what people have been doing, and not practicing myself, I'm completely blown away with the standard of riding here in the UK now!

As for the soundtrack, wasnt my cup of tea, but it was different. Editing was good.

Cool vid. To whoever edited it, a huge THANK YOU for using slow motion. And then another one for using it well.

Yesterday, Sam and I were riding on the Main St. of my city, and this guy pulls over, who looks exactly like Jason Auld (at least at that quality of video), and says he can ride a unicycle. He could ride up and down the sidewalk, too. Probably isn't the same person.

KlownLife
2006-12-29, 11:31 AM
Monkeyman, haha, I doubt very much that was me as I don't live anywhere near you, plus I'm passed just riding up and down the sidewalk, I can almost 180 off it now :p

Thanks for the comments, I like using slow mo, mostly because at normal speed it can be hard to see what's happening but I am also careful that I don't over use it.

It's helpful for the people who can't do all those fliptricks...when I'm watching a video, and someone does a fliptrick, normally the only thing I can figure out is if they're either flipping the cranks, spinning the uni, or both.

It's partly because of the quality of the footage but I have also found that the more I learn flip tricks myself, the more I pay attention and the more I can spot them on videos. I have also noticed that 540s look quite abit better when slowed down as sometimes you can't see how much it spins, just that it spins alot!

Once again, thanks for the positive feedback.
