Gallery comment spam

I just noticed some gallery comment spam. Search the gallery comments for "best cars".

A few of those comments were in my galleries. I have deleted them. But there are more in other people's galleries.

They're back.

More spam on the main gallery index (http://www.unicyclist.com/index.php?page=gallery&g2_itemId=12), about twenty links invade if you "show full".

Oh! They got my gallery again too and hit many of the same other galleries they hit last time.

From the main gallery index, click "view latest comments"

The spam was posted on the 16th
Titles "Some links" and "i was here!"

This all seems futile on the part of the spammer. It hasn't gotten them any benefit in Google. If you search on pages that link to the spammed sites you get zero hits. Google isn't falling for it.

The default Gallery permissions allow everyone to leave comments.

As seen below, I changed my own gallery permissions a while back so that only logged-in users can add comments, while everyone can still view the legitimate comments that logged-in users have made.

You can protect your own gallery pages from this, but only Gilby is the one who can change the permissions on the main page. Perhaps it might be an idea to recursively change the permissions so the main page and everyone's album can be protected.
