I bet Harper can see who votes for what.
I voted yes(in a nice way).

He just goes on about the same stuff, which noone argues with. He just doesn't get it sometimes. Oh well.

Polls are useless and annoying. (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53871) Their results are never posted. They are there for one of five reasons (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53755&highlight=post) except for the much less clever ones. I don't care who votes for what. I don't look. I have more important things to do like trying to snuff them out.

Edit: Btw, what did you vote for?

Even if the stuff he said was as annoying as you, the fact that you act about as intelligent as my avatar balances it out. Just sayin'.

There's a shop near my house called 'Harper's hair care'. Makes me chuckle.

Harpers posts are useless and annoying. they never achieve any results. They are here for 1 of five reasons,
1. Harper is bored
2. Harper likes to annoy people
3. Harper likes to whine about polls
4. he likes to try to get everything his way
5. Haper likes to whine about polls,
exept for less clever reasons.

I never called him a "stupid n00b" you moron. Also, I've been on here 6 months, NOT that it makes ANY difference whatsoever.

But i'm not going to waste my time arguing with you.

Okay, way to threadjack, this is an important issue here.

However, people should not (usually) get offended by the internet.... I've met and ridden with Jonny and he's a really nice guy. Not only that, he's a nice guy online too, sometimes what you say online is different then saying something in real life to a live person.

BillyTheMountain

Several issues seem to be arising here.

1. Exactly how long do you have to post here before you gain the right to call people offensive names?

2. To end the threadjack: Have you ever seen the Simpson's episode where Homer is eating a jelly donut, and the jelly squirts out and covers the meltdown gauge on the nuclear monitor, and he notices too late, and there's practically a meltdown. I like to think of Harper in his nuclear plant when I see that cartoon. Like riding his uni on top of the nuclear reactor, instead of watching the gauge.

Harper is like a slab of bacon; never get him heated up without a shirt on.
An alternative preventative measure to avoid becoming spattered with grease involves coating one's self with oil before cooking. I rub a thin layer of cooking oil on my hands and forearms before deep frying anything and I never get burnt.

...so the alternative to your Harper metaphor would be: never get him heated up without first coating yourself in oil. Now that sounds like a good time! :p

There is a surprising lack of real philosphy in this thread...

For instance, what defines useful? A useful item must fullfill it's function.
Well (and I think I may be stealing this from the chinese) a good hammer hammers. A good screwdriver screws. A hammer then, is a useless screwdriver but a great hammer - and thus is it good at what it is intended to do and is useful.

So, if harper is useless he must fail at his intended function. What is his intended function? Well, if a hammer hammers, then a harper must harp (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/harp)

If you follow the link you will see that all harper has to do to be useful is to always be doing one of several things: Playing the harp, holding up a lampshade, being used a currency in ireland about 3 to 4 hundred years ago, or dwelling on persistently or tediously in speaking or writing.

To use in a sentence: Harper is useful because he is always harping about polls.

Conclusion: Harper is useful and people shouldn't get their panties up in a bunch so easilly. What would you rather have him do? Hold up a lampshade for the rest of his life? That hardly sounds fun.

He was today, or close to it. We got lost on our group ride on Mercer Island, and he couldn't help get us "found". On top of that he came without food, so we had to feed him along the route. His pedal squeeked the whole ride, annoying us and the island dog population. His only real use today was in driving to the ride. He brought Irene along so that she could carry his food, embarrass us on the hills, and convert all of our distance and elevation to metres, just in case any of us had "euro-envy".

That question cannot be answered at this time. If he succeeds as his goal, than it was useful. If he fails, then it was useless.

As long as his goals are achieved he is useful, wether or not you agree with that goal is irrelevant. :)

he has highlighted a problem, and tried to fix it.

So of the two age-old questions, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" and "Is Harper useful?", one is finally answered. This day is one for the history books!
