View Full Version : Bogs
Does anyone here know a lot about bogs?
What makes them so treacherous? Why is it so difficult to get out once a part of your body got sucked in? I searched everywhere, but couldn't find any information.(I've found out about quicksands, though;)) Anyway, I hope someone can explain.

Probably the creepy echoing animal noises, the thick fog, the scary trees with moss hanging off them...everything about a bog screams SCARINESS!!

You know him? He's a very good freind of mine! We go way back... Sounds like he's up to his regular tricks the little fella! You'll have to excuse him, He means no harm. He's really very freindly and kind. He just will have his joke once in a while. Oh, by the way, his name is Patrick, not THE BOG MONTSTER.

And in the UK it is a slang term for the toilet itself. So if you hear someone say "I am just going to the bog", he may well have an unexpected reason on his return for his wet feet.

Lost jogger spends four days in swamp
A jogger who took a wrong turn during a lunch-time run in Florida ended up stuck in a swamp for four days.
Volunteers searching for Eddie Meadows, 62, eventually found him 'stuck like glue' in a bog, reports The Times.
Mr Meadows calmly asked his rescuers: "Do you have a phone? I want to call my wife."
He also asked for water and chocolate, before insisting that he should finish his run, jogging a short distance before he was helped to a waiting ambulance.
Police in Orlando said Mr Meadows had survived by sipping water from the swamp and avoided sun exposure because he was under a shady tree canopy.
Mr Meadows is in training for the Baltimore Marathon and leaves his desk at the University of Central Florida's research park every lunchtime to jog around the campus.
His wife, Ardis, and two grown-up sons appeared on TV to plead for help in finding him and 50 volunteers scoured the area.
Finally, Ron Eaglin was combing woodland on a remote corner of the university campus when he heard noises.
"I heard some sloshing off in the woods, it didn't sound like a deer, so I yelled: "Hello?" and then I heard: "Help, help, help, help"," he said.
"I said: "Are you looking for Eddie Meadows?", and he said: "I AM Eddie Meadows"."

We have a big Tassie (i presume it may be elswere) thing about AGB's which of course is an acronym for after grog bog. i have never really cottoned on to the term thought. Also i used to live next to a bog on a road near a park, the bog was home to what we as children called flippybums. before the bog there was a river which i used to fish in with my father and he would forever yell at me for walking with my fishing rod tip at eye level. One time we saw a man catch a duck one a fishing rod right near the bog starting bit. But never did i meet a person called a.
This is my bog story:
