Hello.

In lieu of my previous unicycle for charity thread (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49169&highlight=charity) I wish to expand on the day.

Some people said that coming to Hertfordshire just for the mile wasn't enough motivation to travel all that way, which is understandable, so[/] I'm thinking of organising a [b]unicycling jousting tournament for after the Sport Relief Mile that will take up the rest of the afternoon.

Who's interested??

I will hopefully provide the (safe) lances, and armour if neccesary, but it would be cool for you to make your own with a coat of arms and stuff. (We're talking a double layer of cardboard from an old box or something).

Unfortunately there's no room for changing the date since I want it to fall on Sport Relief day the 15th of July.

*Bumpy-bump*

oh.. and if anyone is interested but can't do the date we could always do it on a differnt day if there are enough people.

It's all just for fun!

And even when you're not in australia you're in america, which is also a pretty long way away. I'd be interested in joining in, I've jousted before at the crawley juggling festival a couple of times.

I wish I could come to this, but I cant because of location differences.

Can you get it on film too? I would like to watch people joust =p

Cool Dave, I will keep you posted on whether or not I get more interest.

If it does happen (which it probably will since I will be there and at least two others!!!!) then can you also do the Sport Relief mile? It'll be on grass so a bit bumpy but not too rough. Let me know so's I can get you a sponsership pack :)

Dan de man - sorry to limit it to one country, and I swear if I had money to throw away, I would so fly everybody over to take part.

Jerrick - a video will be arranged

Jousting should be an event at the next UNICON, along with unicycle boxing.

True, but if youre advertising a charity fund raiser most people wouldn't mind the breach in etiquette just this once.

Sorry for the bumping thing. I didn't realise it was bad.

But in my defence!:
I just want as many people as possible to see this because I'm sure more than one person in the same country would be interested! I know that some people have a life outside the forum (strange but true) and might miss the thread and a great opportunity to raise money for charity and have fun plus maybe try something new! How can you beat that?

Actually, maybe someone can answer this: a) Is it bad to post a similar post on rec.sport.unicycling at the same time? and b) should I have posted this sort of thread there in the first place??

If it's both yes, then I hope people don't mind if I put one on RSU and then promise I won't do it again.

well... holy crap! i just remembered that i'm going to france on the 13th of july!
there's a super slim chance that i'll be able to make it, but i'll probably still be groggy from jet lag...

You mean you'd come from france to England just to take part? Wow.

Oh, and noticing your avatar, have you been here?

Count me in as long as my knees haven't disintegrated by then (highly likely I'm afraid.) If I'm injured can I joust from a car? I could tape the lance to the bonnet.

If I'm injured can I joust from a car?

Methinks that would be a tad bit unfair....
But that's great! I truly hope your knees are well :)
If in the infortunate case they aren't, it would still be good to meet and talk about Comic Relief

It's frowned upon if the thread in question is rubbish or has finished anyway; this is an announcement that people need to see so there's nothing wrong with a bump or two.

I've never jousted before; it sounds like awesome fun, but unfortunately it's on the same day as the (also for charidee) Manchester to Blackpool ride... :(

This thread may get a better response in the main forum, as lots of people don't read this one; try PMing a mod like Gilby or Harper to move it where more people might see it...

I'm sure I can show up injured or not... we'll all be in the same boat after a couple of rounds of jousting anyway!

Okay I'm going to see if I can get this moved to RSU.
I'm assuming that everyone who has said they'll turn up will also do Sport Relief that day too? Great, awesome, cool :)

Well it looks like the jousting is going ahead! I've got at least six of us to take part. I'll try and sort out a video too. So remember, 15th July, Welwyn Garden City. Put it in your diary people who are coming! I'll start PMing and/or e-mailing you news and updates, and I guess this thread will lay to rest at last.

Be seeing you!
