Getting up early doesn't require less sleep - just go to bed a bit earlier too. *shrug*

my choice would be just to shorten it a few hours so you can sleep and still do stuff afterwards

This was in the news yet again just last week. There was an article on CNN about sleepy teens and how some schools are starting later to accommodate. The problem in general is that melatonin kicks in late in the evening (like around 11:00 PM) for teens and that's what makes you sleepy. So they don't get sleepy till late and then have to get up early so they end up getting less than 8 hours of sleep when in reality they actually need 9 hours or more to feel good throughout the day. It all conspires against them and the result is not enough sleep.

I personally am a morning person, totally...even if school did start at 9, I would wake up at 6 in the morning anyway. I often do my homework in the morning, too...its a good system.

I always stay up really late at night, I just can't fall asleep, so I prefer going to bed at 11 or 12 and sleeping in till 8 or 9. I'd rather wake up at a comfortable time then have a few extra hours of daylight.

I hate waking up early but I would rather have school in the morning because if it were later then I would never get up earlier than I had to.
I vote for less sleep then a nap every few days to catch up.

Yeah i have music rehersals in the mornings too.
I think each day should start an hour earlier or finish an hour later or something so we can have wednesdays off. This would refresh us for thursday and friday because i'm stuffed by then.

Although earlier in the day would give me more time to unicycle after school, I actually have plenty of time to unicycle after school anyway. I'd rather school start later so I can sleep in, there's no way shortening the time I have after school from 8 hours to 5 or 6 would really cut in on my homework time.. I'd still have the maximum of two hours unicycling my knee could stand plus enough time for the little work I do.

Earlier. The waking up part is hard, yes, but for some reason, I like being up and about when it's still half-dark.
