What is the origin of the universe?
I found a very interesting summary of the current views on this webpage (http://www.euroleadershipresources.org/resource.php?ID=51). If you have time I would encourage you to listen to the audio lecture rather then just skimming the transcript.
This is a thread created with the Gild and Gilby type in mind. :)

I'm going to go with glib and say that since there is a great deal of fluctuation in the performance of my vacuum, any one of the vacuum fluctuation models will do.

It's obvious that with the seemingly random shifts in the value of the dollar, coupled with the long-term decline of its purchasing power, that chaotic inflation is the appropriate model to explain where we're at these days...
I'd agree with JJuggle's observation but I believe his hypothesis is flawed... it's quite obvious he hasn't taken his vacuum in for its 15,000 mile service. He'd get more regular performance from his vacuum if he simply gave it a little TLC.

As far as I am concerned, the universe began in 1975. :p

Although I do believe that my vacuum is allergic to our cats, a circumstance over which I have very little control as both are firmly established in the house, still I must demur. I give my vacuum plenty of TLC. The bag is changed regularly, the carpet attachment trimmed of hair and dirt, and the bulb - for my noctural vacuuming forays - changed when needed. And it is stored in a warm dry place.
My vacuum cleaner's treatment is second only perhaps to that of our toaster, an appliance whose existence I'd almost be willing to ascribe to a higher power.

Truly, you speak unskilfully: or, if your knowledge be more, it is much darkened in your ignorance.
My suspicions were correct: toss out a few big words, and the community goes silly! :)

You might have waited a bit to make that leap, notwithstanding the excellent diversion you have provided.

Maybe I should redefine my quote: "Toss out a few big words and the community automatically fluidly fluctuates into a fixated conflagration silliness before returning a more serous but less enjoyable dialogue."

It took you over an hour to think up a comeback for a simple statement like that?
So: where's your other wheel? Rides 15 times around the block thinking of a answer ... JK
I wouldn't mind trying to get this thread onto the tracks though. There has been some voting, but as far as intelligent life on this planet
Has anyone read some of the article or have any kind of reasoning to share? Why do you believe what you believe, etc.?
