20th and 21st May 2006

I am organising the Muniuni Weekend at Chiltern in NE Victoria.
All riders are welcome. Last years event had a friendly meeting, ride around, a street ride, some basic trials, cross country in the forest, uphill, downhill, watching uni videos at the local pub. A MIXED event!

yer, sounds awesome!

hope to find out the other details soon.

I think we will have a few melbourneans/kilmoreans in a car pool.

i'm too lazy to look on the net, how far is Chiltern from Melbourne?

thanks,
Ed

I am waiting for the AUS to give me the go ahead for insurance. Chiltern is about 250 Km from Melbourne. You can get her by train and stay at the local caravan park either in a tent or in cabins.

I am happy to use my car and trailer to transport the unis into the forest.

I have also been busy at work, but will make some time and get to organising it.

Hi Aussie Muni riders.

The Australian Unicycling Society has given me the go ahead to run the event under their insurance umbrella. I need this to use the national park and council land.

All systems go, I will keep people updated through here and my site.
An event like this takes some organising, so please be patient and importantly closer to the event, let me know if you will be coming.

Look forward to a great event.

Make sure you bring 'High Vis clothing" for the stree ride.
Also thanks for the reminder about how much work I have to do. It is coming together but I would like more riders to let me know if they can actually make it. So far I think I have about 10 confirmed.

edsbelly
2006-04-27, 11:27 AM
Hey there Mal,

A group of Melbourneans and Kilmoreans will definately be coming to the weekend. :D We can't wait!

We're looking at ways for us to get up there.

Now.. if we were to catch the train up there, how far is the station from Lake Anderson caraban park? IS it in walking distance?

If we stayed at that caravan park, is it in walking distance to all of the meeting points and the town?

I've been on municycle.com.au, and i read the stuff on the site about the event. So we MUST have knee guards, wrist guards and a helmet?

With the subscription, so we can sign up for AUS when we get to chiltern? And we need to bring $10 each for the ride?

Thanks.

Ed

PS - can't wait to try your 36" UW

Chiltern is a tiny town so the station is a short walk or ride to the caravan park. The council has notified me that riders must wear helmets and high vis clothing for the street ride.

For my own sanity, I would like you to wear at least a helmet and preferably the rest in the 'formal' bush get togethers. This what they do at MAB etc.

You can join the AUS on the day through me. I have to recheck the cost but I think it is now $20.00 for one year.

My charges is $15.00 for the weekend. This just helps me cover cost. I use my car a bit and have to hire a portable toilet (national Park ) this year....so if you wanna go you will have beautiful plastic box available.

It is great to know you are coming

So, if we need to join AUS can we still get the early entry fee or will it be $15 instead of 10?

onebyone
2006-04-28, 08:21 AM
I don't want this to get too complicated.

An early entry is $10.00 if you send me a cheque/money order before the day. Otherwise it is $15.00 on the day. Early entries can save me time and help with the organisation.

The AUS fees are separate. I will check by emailing Cris the AUS sectretary about how much the fees are and will keep you posted.

The idea of the early entry was to help me know how many are actually turning up and to help me organise the weekend.

umm by hi vis clothing do you mean bright colours or the reflective stuffs?

onebyone
2006-04-28, 09:04 PM
I think bright would be good enough. If there is enough of us, we will be high vis in our own right. Last year the local policeman also followed us with his lights and that made us extremely high vis.
We have a new policeman and I have to ask him if he will do the same.

Hi,

An update regarding the AUS Membership. The cost is $20.00 for 1 year. This gives you insurance benefits required for AUS certified events.

If you joined at Uninats last year you will still be covered (I am pretty sure), otherwise you will have to join to participate in my event. You can join on the day.

The AUS website is also up and running, so please check it out.

What to do in Chiltern for adults.....well the forest is the main attraction so tell them to follow us around! Chiltern is worth a look but will not take too long to see. Rutheglen 20 ks away has some good wineries and coffee shops etc, Beechworth is up the hill the other way and is worth a visit for shopping etc.

onebyone
2006-05-08, 08:34 AM
Hi,
the helmet is the main item, bright clothing (the council said high vis but a yellow bike jacket /sweat shirt sort of thing for the street ride.

Wrist guards/bike gloves and some sort of knee protection. The gear can vary from stuff you can but from a bike shop to roller blade stuff. Last year a guy just wore squash knee guards.

I just hate the site of blood

onebyone
2006-05-08, 08:36 AM
PS I am not too worried about the wrist and knee guards for the street ride but they are needed for trials and the bush.

1: Does the early entry fee mean it's $10 if we oay before the day, or $10 if we say we're coming before the day?

2: Will anyone be able to give me a lift to a train line that i can get home on? I live on the Lilydale line (metlink)

This is getting confusing. I tried to do this to help people enter early so I could be more confident in the organising aspect but it hasn't worked. I figured that at the moment, just turn up.

Some people have entered early, some have emailed me and I am sure some people will be here and have not indicated anything. I am thinking now that I will charge everyone $10.00 and tighten up my policy IF I run the event again.

Has anyone put all the footage onto a CD yet? I got my friend to download the song I'm use, and I haven't seen/heard anything about the actual videos yet.

I think i have all of the kilmore footage which i'll have for you on sunday. None of it loooks that good.. coz SOMEONE *glances at amos* is a terrible camera man.

I'm sorry jake, this is the hardest part of my job. You're NEVER going to film for ME again. I dunno about the others. it's up to them

All of the footage is either shakey or on an angle that makes all of the stuff look flat - it wasn't flat.

Although Keven's stuff looks pretty good, coz you can't really stuff up with an UW, they look awesome anyway! There's a lot that you could use, ultimate Kev, I will have the stuff on CD for you on sunday.

ahahahahahahaha

With that footage, for some reason i was on a unicycle.

All of the stuff that you took on the w/e was shakey except where it was tilted, and i didn't ask you to tilt the cam so the terrain we were doing looked crap, did I?

We/I never said that you had to film, you could have ridden too if you'd wanted, i'd have happily filmed the other riders, expecially if it was the only alternative to having dodgy footage.

Next time I think i WILL film it and when i have a line in mind, perhaps i will ask someone competent to take the footage of me.

I've taken a lot of other footage too, Jake, not a lot, but more than you think. When i went down to Melbourne with Heritage boy and rode with Keven, Luke and Max, i filmed a few lines of Max's and Luke's.

My hand was almost perfectly still. Unlike anything i've seen from you.

This thread made my evening so much better (I am studying for the 2 exams i have tomorow). Im surprised gilby or someone hasnt deleted it now that the event is over. Jake and Ed: You guys make me laugh sooo much! Its good to see people are fighting over me even if it is two guys.

Jake- Dude, i have only seen the stuff you filmed for the kilmore movie and, well, you know what i thought of that. Most of the stuff i have seen ed film has been ok (I am yet to see the filming-while-on-unicycle).

Anyways i hope you two dont kill each other or anything.
I cant wait to see the chiltern footage. I wish i was able to have gone!

Cheers,
Max

We made the news. I just got home after....you guessed it, unicycling after work thinking Thurs would be too late, turned on the tele and after the weather "Now coming up. An unususual past time". So the good news is we had about 1 minute of good coverage. It really was good with the old corny stuff like Mountain Biking has a new twist etc. Stuff like if a unicycle isn't enough challenge, then try a big wheel without a seat.:)

My VHS didn't work., I will ring them
