I figured this thread was already here, but I don't see it.

It's NewYears Eve or Day depending on where you live! What are you resolutions, non uni related, as those are posted in RSU.

Mine are on the dry side, but are as follows:

1. Publish papers from my dissertation.
2. Change my oil more frequently.
3. Take a lot of things to the second-hand shop regularly so I have less stuff and more room than now.
4. Use fewer exclamation points in emails and posts except in reply to Chosen, who likes them.

My kid's resolutions are the tops; I think I'll take on his as well:
1. Make friends
2. Be the best I can
3. Like people
4. Keep room clean

2005 has been such a good year for me - I learned to Uni and got on the doctorate course that I'd been trying for the previous couple of years to get on - I don't know if I've got any resolutions for 2006. Usually I go for 'goals' rather than 'resolutions' anyway.

Probably my resolution would be to survive the year - 100 miles a day travelling and all the academic work that it will involve. And to do as much uni related stuff as possible.

I think your exclamation points are neat podzol, you can keep using them if you want (:

Well my main resolutions this year do apply to the uni, since I'm still a budding learner.

Other than that, all I basically am asking myself to do is to stay close to my family, stay loyal to my friends, and keep my hitlist blank. What more can you ask for?

1) Narrow down my girlfriends from 25 to 20. I just can't keep up with them all...
2) Keep it real
3) Find a real job

1. Care more about school than working. When I get it mixed up it makes school alot harder.
2. Say no to people when i want.
3. buy things for myself
4. workout... this has been here for years... lets see if I break it again.

-no more soft drinks
-care more about skool
-manage my time better

I think the first one is the only one that will stick

1) Get accepted to UCF, FSU, FIT, USF, or UF (eh)
1.5) Apply for and recieve as many scholarships as possible
2) Start lifting weights (I can bench ~100lbs as of now)
3) Party less, and only on weekends
3.5) Stop smoking so much pot
4) Get some ideas off the paper (get patents)
5) Focus on school, 100% (even when the waves are 2ft overhead :()
6) Play more soccer

...Pretty much get my priorities straightened out and realize that some things, as good as they seem(ed), weren't meant to be (relationship issues..)...

EDIT:
7) Get a better paying job than bussboy ($4.50/hr + tips) (I need something that I can *shine* in, like a network technician or graphic designer...)

You've got an ambitious list of resolutions! If you tackle most of your resolutions, you've be doing really well. Good luck!! Be patient and forgiving with yourself and stick to your guns best you can!

Thanks, Blake!
I feel pretty confident that all of these goals are attainable, and I know it will take some work, but, like I said, I have the confidence and determination of a rattlesnake hunting a fieldmouse.

(I thought it was a pretty good analogy )

You'll never get all those done, especially the one about cleaning your room. Sorry if this sounds pessimistic.

What is it with people making resolutions to "find God" and read the Bible? I know that this is neither the time nor place for a discussion on religion, but if you

8) Don't get carried away with religious/political matters

its clearly not an important topic to you, and thats fine...but religion is central to many people's lives, and in some cases, like mine, at least gives them a reason to live.

How do you know when you "found God", anyway?

No offense intended, I'm actually a little curious.

In my experence finding god isnt the hardest part even, its being able to get close enough to tag him and yell "you're it."

My new years resolutions were:

Rock Climb outside more (and inside)

Look for a job with a half ass attempt and then find a burrito joint that I can make min wage and get free burritos at and settle down.

Read more books this year than the last

Build the worlds only sailable lego ship. (with cannons)

Stop making resolutions a few days after the new year.
