What's the uni calendar?
I got a gym membership which is fantastic!
Also got a bench grinder from my boss (an embarassingly generous gift), side scraper for my wood lathe, a book, and some jazz albums.
It's meant to reach about 39 degrees celcius (102F) today here in Brisbane so it's a good thing there's a swimming pool handy. :) Going camping tonight too...a very fun Christmas!
Merry Christmas all.

Christmas? Bah, humbug. I'm not Mr. Christmas Jollity. I logged onto RSU just after breakfast on Christmas Day to see 24 people were also logged on. How Christmassy are we?:p
Nevertheless, I had a lovely Christmas eve with good friends last night and I am moderately inclined to good will to all mankind at this moment in time.
Am now off for a ride on the Coker before going to my dear old Dad's for dinner.
Have a good one.

Happy Christmas, nice to see there are other net junkies out there logging on on christmas day. Pauls in the kitchen getting the duck in the oven, my parents are on route, the "Now thats what I call Christmas" Album is on the record player. Not a pressie opened or cracker racker yet- all that still to come.
So who found a unicycle in their stocking? I didn't, they are all still in the garage and my socks are still the right shape.

Do they still put out copies of 2600?
Instead of cellebrating Christmas, I'm watching insane Japanese anime and eating toast untill I throw up.

I got a unicalendar too. And various other uni bits - a hoody, Enter the thunder dragon and new harbinger gloves - to alternate with the smelly ones that smell even after I wash them (New year's resolution - wash my gloves more often). Main pressie was a new mp3 player - iriver T20. Had I known about the N11 I would have asked for that but I didn't until last week). Anyway, very pleased with pressies. Now have to go and play magnetix with the boy.
Happy Christmas fellow computer saddos.

Merry Christmas everyone!!
I have dinner with my neighbors, a generous retired couple, and I expect I'll exchange phone calls with friends and family from all over the place.
I did my best to sleep in, but a well meaning someone sent a blank text message at 5:30 and my phone started beeping. I wasn't able to get back to sleep.
Now the carnary's sining boisterously and there's no rest for the wicked!!
Nice to hear about every one's festivities. For some reason in our family, spoiling the animals was always high on the list of Christmas priorities. I've got two dogs, a cat and two canaries, so i have plenty of that to do. I baked an egg glazed braided kibble wreath yesterday for the doggies and they can continue to enjoy it today! the cat won't yeat it but the dogs will and I suppose the canaries might peck at it.
HO HO HO!

Curmudgeon... You grumble only because it's unlikely Santa will be stuffing a new server into your stocking. :)
Haha... actually, I recently ordered two new servers, which will hopefully be set up soon. I'll have it set up in a highly available configuration -- basically if one server goes down the other one picks up the load. Ultimately I'll have two clusters like this in different locations around the world. ;) Full redundancy and close to the end user. A fellow unicyclist runs a colocation service so I am setting these up through him and will have him (and his team) manage the servers so I don't have to worry as much. :) Imagine, never having withdrawl from unicyclist.com temporarily being unavailable... OK, maybe not, as unicyclist.com is a complicated setup (the gallery mostly... but the forum software isn't the best for clustering -- but they are working on it). So unicyclist.com probably wont be set up to be highly available, just redundant by having a live backup in case of hardware failure.
Oh, and in case you didn't see the smiley, I was being sarcastic. Though my family is not much into gift giving. Personally, I'd rather not have to give gifts, too much work in trying to figure out what to get and for me, I'd rather not get anything from others as it's likely not to be something I'd want or need. If I need something, I usually just go buy it... if it's too much for me to afford, it'd be too much to give as a gift as well anyways.
Though, my mom did get me some microwavable cooking stuff, which I did need. :) Usually my extended family (well, my aunts on behalf of their family) gives little things to everyone. I got home-made candy, and home made salsa. To me, that's the best kind of gift, something that is very good and I can't get in the store. My grandparents also gave me a sizable check, which was kind of funny when my 9 year old cousin opened up her had with the check in it and yelled, "Mom, I got ___ ________ dollars!"
To me, christmas isn't and shouldn't be about the gifts, it's about getting to spend time with my extended family.
