First you think "ooo, that looks very sleek and shiny indeed". Then you scroll down, and that's when I covered my desk in dribble.

I want one...

It looks really long in that last picture. But hey, one of the buttons has a picture of a donkey on it- that's kinda cool.

It does look uber-long, but I'm sure I could make space on my desk for something that cool. It doesn't just have a key with a donkey on it, it has keys with whatever picture you want on them! All of them!

<dribbles a bit more>

My current keyboard is translucent green with black keys; I used to really want some kind of illumination inside. No longer; now I want a keyboard with keys that light up by themselves.

Maybe if you can update them fast enough you could use the keys as extra little displays... have your current music track scrolling by in the escape key, for example. That would be truly genius...

I just posted that keyboard elsewhere here in JC (http://unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40466&perpage=15&pagenumber=3#post338150)!
But yes, it's very cool.

I think I'm going mad, I somehow seemed to have missed that thread entirely, sorry!

I've just noticed that this website is where the desktop background on my laptop came from; the "New Windows" image on http://www.artlebedev.com/posters/ (the rain-on-a-window picture).

all I have to say is that THAT IS THE AWSOMEST THING EVER!!! I really want one of those. It seams like I was talking to someone about that idea once, but the fact that it actully exists is really awsome, and as for its being to big, it is worth getting a new desk to put it on.

Realistically, it looks like it would require its own power supply, and a different interface to communicate with the computer. Rather than a pure input device, it would need two-way communication with the computer to know what to display on the application keys.

On second thought, USB might be sufficient for that.

But cool.

Here is your ultimate mouse (http://www.tactiva.com/) to go with your concept keyboard. Check out the demo movies to see what it does.

Expected release is 2006. Just because the keyboard is cool doesn't mean you shouldn't read. Sometimes I wonder if you can...

You can pay an extra 30 bucks for a rumble pack that hooks in via USB...

If you could read you would see that Evan was referring to the PDA keyboard.

That "Tactiva" mouse-replacement John linked to does force feedback direct to the fingers.

Secondly, if you can afford a keyboard with a mini OLED display in every key, you can surely afford to stick a few rumbly devices in it... :)
