there seems to be more focus on post-count and page-count all of a sudden
it would be interesting to figure out what's behind the phenomenon and if it also occurs on other fora

It happened before. People were getting fixated on post count. Then Gilby changed things so that the user post count wasn't displayed by the avatar. That hid the count and made it more low profile. The count is still there, but you have to go look for it.

I was completely oblivious that I was even near 6K. It's not something was even on my radar.

I'm with John Childs, I used to keep an eye on the post count just for fun but since Gilby slid it into the background, I haven't looked for it in a very long time. Plus, with the MR pseudo-instant message thing going on, the post count accuracy is way off track.

Off to wash the Avalanche. We use it in the parade. Should be a beautiful day here, tops of about 70 degrees, dry and sunny.
