I've just been given the new Audioslave!!!

he knows i'm a fan and got me a copy from one of the record company reps he deals with

halfway thru the first track and i like it allready

Aside from the name of a band, what is an audioslave?

Is Dave an audioslave?

If I had an audioslave, would I be able to tell it to change the CD? Or download new music to my IPod? Or sing a song?

i'm guessing it might be an amplifier of some description
or an audio device that accept the internal clock of another appliance as the 'ruling' time
i've heard the terms 'master' and 'slave' bandied about in that context before

I've only heard one Audioslave song, Pushing Forward Back. I only have it because it has a cameo in the movie Benny and Joon, which is one of my favorite movies. it's very good. the song I mean. and the movie too, of course, but in this context I was referring to the song.

Pushing Forward Back was by Temple of the Dog, a one-off group / album formed by members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam in memorial to a member of some other band who O.D.'d on heroin.

I'm still on the fence with Audioslave... Chris Cornell is an amazing singer (even though his solo album was crap) but the ex-Rage members backing him don't do him any justice. I liked Rage, but their music isn't any more than a bunch of clever power-chords. Kim Thayil was an abso-frickin-lutely stellar guitarist, but leaving Cornell was the worst mistake he ever made. Together those two could've saved rock'n'roll from the likes of Limp Bizkit... ecch.

my initial impression is that the albums lacks some of the explosive energy of their debut effort
this has been replaced by a deeper, more throbbing sense of melody
which, when overlayed with cornell's vocals, works for me

yeah I've got their first album and like it....haven't given their new one a listen yet....but im thinking one Audioslave CD is enough for me, I hardly listen to their first one, so when I feel like listening to them 2 CD's will probably be a waste.

I think an audio slave refers to MIDI output and input.

You've got lets say the Master keyboard on wich the musician plays and the Slave keyboard that emits the sounds.

I've got their old DVD in which Tom morrello says that they (as a band) are very committed to their families and what not, but the only thing that they are a slave to is their music (or audio, if you will.)
