That's not your house, is it?Nope, I've put on some holiday weight but not as much as that guy. Haven't shaved my head yet either.
We had a weaker storm earlier in the week that dropped a 100' tree on a friend's house and killed his roof trusses. Got to exercise my Chain Saw muscles with that one.
On a sadder note, we've had quite a few Carbon Monoxide Killers after this storm. Unbelievable how many people bring their charcoal grilles into the house for cooking or heat. Many of them recent immigrants.
Nope
I figured.
If it was you you'd probably be riding that log and not just watching it.

I am indeed, how about yourself? We made too much food yesterday, so enjoying leftover turkey today. Lots of SANDWICH FILLER in our midst.
I am thanx.
Flew down to Cape Town to spend xmas with the family.
Turjey isn't the usual thing around here. We had chicken and blessbok for lunch on xmas day, then headed off to join up with the rest of the cousins, nieces, nephews and a couple of 'second X, twice removed'.
The first time we'd all been together in 23 years.
It was plenty kewl.

I hope the tradition doesn't leave out a little Wild Turjey to help lubricate those 23-year-old family ties. How cool to have a reunion after so long a time.
Sometime you'll have to explain what blessbok is. In return, I'll post the lyrics to "Blood Reunion" by Judith Edelman. A humorous look at the family reunion concept.

I got a bottle of the stuff from my sister.
I got her a hip-flask and filled it with another bourbon as I didn't have any of the Turkey on hand while I was wrapping pressies and I'm totally convinced that only weirdos give empty hip-flasks as gifts.
Sometime you'll have to explain what blessbok is.

Ah, prey. Looks like a timid although mildly speedy creature, always wary of the cat tooth or gas grill. So riddle me this, Batman:
Venison is to deer as blessbok is to ___________.
About the same I'd guess.

About the same I'd guess.
Was actually looking for a one word answer, with that one word being the name of whatever that beast is. I'm assuming (only since I wasn't able to find a dictionary or wiki reference) that blessbok isn't the name of the animal, but rather the name of the meat or the dish you prepare from it. Much like venison is the meat from a deer, not the deer itself.
With that in mind:

Aaahhh, no, blessbok is the name of the animal.
The dish is referred to as venison.
So, venison is to deer as venison is to blessbok.

Actually, in this case it appears I can't always trust GILD, since it was his misssspelling of the name that prevented me from finding it in my initial wiki search. Had I found the link Borges included on my initial search, it would have saved me creating a couple extranious posts and an unnecessary association riddle.

Mugged for a music player: Are iPods the new Air Jordans? (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/308707_ipods23.html?source=mypi)
By SCOTT GUTIERREZ
P-I REPORTER
When thugs robbed a pair of teenagers earlier this month in a crowded Seattle shopping mall, they weren't after money. They weren't after expensive clothes or fancy basketball shoes either.
They wanted what the boys were plugged into: shiny, pocket-sized iPods.
The boys refused to hand over their digital music players -- until one of the thieves produced a knife and pressed it against the chest of one of the victims.
The March 3 Northgate Mall robbery is part of a trend that has Seattle-area teens on guard and police targeting juvenile theft rings.
Students are toting MP3 players and other costly electronic devices as never before -- at school and while hanging out -- making tempting targets for envious thieves, who aren't just picking through bags or lockers.
Victims often are robbed while listening to music on the bus or walking home alone, police say. The suspects tend to be other juveniles, even classmates."The two things that kids carry the most are backpacks and iPods," said Detective Jim Frese of Seattle's North Precinct. "It's so common it doesn't faze us anymore."
iPOD THEFT SAFEGUARDs
To protect yourself:
# Record your MP3 player's serial number. Victims often think that describing their iPod's song list to police will be enough to help recover it.
# Don't wear or carry your iPod or cell phone where it's visible to thieves. Try to wear it inside your clothing.
# Switch your iPod headphones when in public to older, less distinguishable ones. Headphones often are what attract thieves.
# Be aware of your surroundings.

Speaking of Zunes and KILLERS, I'm enjoying "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll", from Dylan's Bootleg Series 5, on my Zune right now.
"William Zanzinger killed poor Hattie Carroll.
With a cane that he twirled 'round his diamond ring finger,
At a Baltimore hotel society gathering,
And the cops were called in and his weapon took from him.
As they rode him in custody down to the station,
And booked William Zanzinger for first-degree murder.
Yes and you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,
Take the rag away from your face.
Now ain't the time for your tears."

Hey,
Many of you have been secretly wondering how to kill a thread. Others know exactly how to execute threads. And some just kill threads inadvertently, like you. (You know who I'm talking to).
But what about you others? Have you ever felt that YOU were to blame for the death of a thread that your fellow uni riders had been enjoying? Feeling a little guilty? Or like it might be something about YOU that makes a thread die. Like maybe you are THE COOLER (seen the movie?).
I killed Raphael's fart thread, and despite MuniPsycho's valiant efforts to revive it, the damage was too great. Like the doctors who did everything to save the patient. It's easy to find the thread killers, because the LAST one to post is listed.
I just went to p. 3 and examined the threads. I don't want to point any fingers, but SOMEONE'S name appears MORE than anyone elses. YES, we have a thread MASS MURDERER in our midst.
I will say no more. Do the research. No need to name names. We know who you are..... THREAD KILLER!!!

If you're trying to kill a thread it is best not to ask a question that is going to get an answer. Your question is too easy and is going to get an obvious answer.
Billy's strategy is to ask unrelated questions that are more of a statement and thus get no replies in response.

and i suppose you are gonna tell me that wal mart helps out mom and pop shops to?
Did you read the article? They cover in some detail about how Starbucks is not a killer and can actually end up amplifying business at an independent coffeeshop.
Starbucks has a lot going against it that the independents can take advantage of to offer a better experience.
The espresso at Starbucks is only adequate. Their espresso is well suited for mixed coffee drinks but is not a very good espresso on its own. They don't bother to have a machine dialed in and dedicated to do a proper straight espresso. Many Starbucks don't even have porcelain demitasse cups to serve an espresso in! By default they will give you an espresso in a paper cup to go. No self-respecting independent coffeeshop would ever put an espresso in a paper cup.
Starbucks doesn't want you to stay. They serve everything to go. They'd rather serve your coffee to go in a paper cup and give you your pastry or cookie is a paper bag.
Independents don't have to deal with corporate pricing. Starbucks has all of their prices end in an odd number of cents, especially after sales tax is added in. Independents can be more sensible and have their prices come to an even $1.50 or $2.00 for a doppio espresso even after the sales tax is factored in.
Independents can have a better atmosphere and do things like host live music in the evenings.
Starbucks is there to introduce you to espresso coffee drinks. If you like that kind of coffee drink you'll explore the independents and find that some of them actually make better coffee than Starbucks.

It would be good to have someone figure out how to calculate the "average page drop per day" for threads that don't get replied to. In this case, I found it on page 4, showing a drop of over one page a day. But really you would need to take a lot of samples over time and build up some data before you could reach a broad conclusion.

I killed the pornography thread, the Daily Bible Verse thread, and numerous other threads.
I'm getting good at it! You start a thread, and I'll kill it.
