The intent behind this thread is to educate us all on tactics of spammers and scammers. Hopefully after reading this thread, you will be better equiped in order to not get taken by a scam.

Serves me right for not reading the thread in the first place...feel free to jsut ignore my posts in the future, lol
But the main reason I was confused, is I don't see how you could scam someone using that

In one technique, the false links lead you to a realistic-looking website that asks you for critical information, i.e., passwords, bank account numbers, in order to phish the info from you. I'm not sure what the links in this particular email do. They lead to a non-existent website.

Maybe I'm a little cold for thinking this, but I've got the attitude that if people fall for that kind of thing, they deserve it. It's simply survival of the fittest. I tend to side with the scammers in these cases... good for them for making money off people who will fall for anything.

In one technique, the false links lead you to a realistic-looking website that asks you for critical information, i.e., passwords, bank account numbers, in order to phish the info from you.

Here's one such example that I followed with an email address that I made up just for this purpose. I was initially contacted through myspace by a girl who was using her "friend's" account. As soon as I saw that it was fairly obvious. Using that made up email address I sent an email to the address that she included in the myspace message. Here's the response I got:

Hi todd ! Hey you found me! I was a little worried you
wouldn't be able to :P so, how are you? I'm ok.. I'm
sneaking a email in at work before my boss comes back
in, so sorry if it's a little short! I promise to
write more later :)

So I promised you some pics:P well I will have to send
you some of me when I get home (don't have the pics
here at work). In the meantime you can check out my
personal homepage. It's kind of playground while I'm
taking this intro to HTML class, kind of like my blog
page. Here is the link:
http://www.honesthost5mb.com/kristenssite It's not
much yet but it's getting there. hehe

So tell me more about yourself, are you a work to live
or live to work kinda person? What are you looking for
in a girl? Do you like myspace? I think I'll make a
profile soon, it's free right? and you can add your
own HTML? That would be cool.. So how is your 2006
going? Mine is ok, one thing I'm excited about though
is that today is exactly 1 week before my birthday.
Hey, maybe if we hit it off, we can go on a first date
on my birthday, that would be really cool. :)

Anyways, enough with the 20 questions right? oh, I
prefer to chat on IM, its more personal you know? Do
you have AIM? im kriskat224 on there, msg me sometime
ok?

Well I should log off and get some work done.. Write
back soon! and take care!

xoxo ~ Kristen

I sent another email asking a bunch of questions and got no response. If you follow the link to her site (no pr0n on it if you were worried about that), you will notice the blatant phishing going on at the bottom of the page (which supposedly leads you to the pr0n).

But the world you're describing is a level playing field and everyone has the same abilities, intelligence, experiences, etc.

I see the world as quite lumpy and filled with all sorts of different people. When my sister wants her car repaired, she hires a mechanic. In her lack of automobile knowledge, sometimes she doesn't even know what questions to ask. So she is at the mercy of the mechanic, or rather she has no option but to trust the mechanic. Of course she can (and does) the research to find out who comes recommended but when it comes to the actual work, she knows nothing. If he takes advantage of her and overcharges for his services, she may never know about it but it's still wrong.

Now when that mechanic starts to have health problems and attends the hospital where my sister works as a nurse, the same situation occurs. He is at the mercy of the knowledge of her medical expertise. If she purposely acts opposite of the hippocratic oath of the medical field and causes him harm, it may or may not be evident but it would still be wrong.

What you're saying is that as long as you don't get caught, it's okay and not wrong. I have to strongly disagree with you. In either situation listed above, I have to think that there is no right to succeed by dishonesty or cover-up. These scammers are intentionally distributing false information and deliberately attempting to gain money for nothing in return. How can it be anything else but wrong?

Good discussion.

This one's pretty good. The links in the email lead to http://www.pm-intl.com.sg/~chase/JpMorganChase No obvious grammatical or spelling errors. And it contains the standard 'Do this or else!' warning.

But it was sent to Ben who of course does not have any credit cards.

Ah yes, the world of Myspace. I peruse the Myspace sites from time to time just to keep track of what the boys are facing in the teenage world.

Here's the thing. I highly suspect that the authors of these emails are male so a handsome young man is probably not going to make me any more special to them than the next responder. I'm kind of liking Monkey's suggestion. The big fella in the picture that Mr. Man posted just might catch an eye and get me some undeserved attention. That's the sort of thing I'm going for here, to make them want to hang on to me so I can see how far I can run out the charade. We'll see how it all works out. I suppose I should get to know my new friend first before I make a decision on what I look like. :)

In either situation listed above, I have to think that there is no right to succeed by dishonesty or cover-up. These scammers are intentionally distributing false information and deliberately attempting to gain money for nothing in return. How can it be anything else but wrong?

Good discussion.

I agree that it is absolutely wrong to deliberately mislead somebody, however in the majority of scamming cases, people just don't know who they're giving information to. For example, since you've never met me (at least not that I know of), and don't know me personally, what would you do if I said I'll send you (insert something of value), just send me your credit card number to pay for it. You'd probably just laugh and tell me to go take a hike. Most scammers basically do just that, however it is obviously a little more discrete than that. If people are gonna send personal information that willingly, it serves them right for losing out, regardless of whether they've got rocks for brains or not.

I think that the mechanic and the nurse example is a good thing to touch on, but when we go to a mechanic or a nurse, it's generally out of necessity, and the legitimacy of these professions is pretty easy to determine. While a mechanic may try to scam you on something like extra repairs, I don't see that kind of thing the same way as blindly giving information to some random person online.

Another example is the link I posted with that scam in my last post. Anybody who punches their personal information and C/C number into that deserves to lose out, because they are freely giving out that information without having any idea who is getting it on the other end. It's a whole different situation than getting ripped off at a mechanic's shop.

As a side note, I really hate mechanics who do that, even though the majority of mechanics are honest, those few give them all a bad name. The guy I work for has received a number of phone calls from fathers who are calling him to thank him for being honest with their daughters and not ripping them off.

In the cases of scammers, the majority of them are based on products or services that are just not necessary, often linked to pr0n or "get-rich-quick" schemes. People just go and start punching in credit card numbers without being sure that whoever is receiving the information on the other end is actually legitimate. A pretty website is nothing to base any conclusions off of, apparently some people can't figure that out.

If anybody is getting personal information from me online, it's not something that i'm just gonna stumble across and say, "oh that looks good", pull out my credit card, and punch in the number. I'm deliberately looking for the place I'm going to put my personal information, because I know before I even sit down at my computer that it is a legitimate and trustworthy recipient and will use or store that information appropriately. The places that have personal information about me online are pretty well limited to a number of post-secondary schools and PayPal.

I have made private purchases online, but when I do that, I make sure to use a system that I know I have some protection with, such as PayPal.

It all started so innocently...

Hello My Dear,

you,i am miss Ulochi Benson from the repoblic of liberia i am 23years
old girl,i am an easy going girl and very loveing and carring, i am
presently staying in Dakar Senegal because of war going on in my
country,i manage to make my way to senegal after i lost all my families
in war, now i don't have anybody to show as my own person, my dear i
realy want to know you more because i have something to discuse with you
which i don't want to tell you here, i will like you to contact me with
my privet email address(ulochi4ur@yahoo.co.uk) so that we can talk more
and also tell you more about me to you, have a naice day

yours
ulochi.

To which I reply...

What a delightfull surprise to get such a marvellouslly friendly email in my inbox. I hope one day to be able to return the compliment.
Ma'am, I must doff my hat to you in respect for remaining so easy-going despite the trials and tribulations this most recent war-manifestation of all those centuries of dispute around the Darfur region hath wreaked upon your hitherto perfectly peacefull life. It is an interesting history, and yet again the British have a lot to answer for in the way the rode roughshop over sensible, local solutions to long simmering problems, stirring them all up and then leaving just as the bloodshed begins. To then wash their hands and mutter something about 'restless' and 'natives' is something truly cynical to behold.
Unlike your beauty, which I'm assuming is great.
Wouldn't you be a darling and include a picture of yourself in your next mail so I may have an idea of who I"m speaking with?

Send word

'She' then sent some pics with the next email. This is like a red rag to a bull for me as I immediately start pressing for nude pics.
Knowing that they probably just grabbed these pics off a site somewhere and can't get hold of nudes, I love watching them squirm.

Dearest In Mind Dave.
Good Day I am writting this letter with due respect and heartful of tears since we have not known or met ourselves previously I am asking for your assistance after i read your mail it makes me constrained to contact you cos i feel. something tells me that, you could help me realise my dream with what is already left behind for me by my late parents.want to find out if it's possible for you to deal with individual as to investment . I will be so glad if you can allow me and lead me to the right channel towards your assistance to my situation now.I will make my proposal well known if I am given the opportunity. I would like to use this opportunity to introduce my self to you.Well I am Ulochi from Liberia, the daughter of Col Benson Eluwa,i am liveing in dakar senegal , My father is now late,he died during the last and current crisis in my country(Liberia). He was one of the high officers in the leadership of formal president Charles Taylor who is now in exile after many innocent soul were killed ,My father was unlucky to be among those that was killed by the rebel. The main reason why I am contacting you now is to seek you assistance in thearea of my future investment and also for a help hand over some huge amount of money in my possession. This money is ($4.6. million United States Dollars) was deposited in a security and finance company in Dakar Senegal some years ago by my father He made me the sole beneficiary. I am constrained to contact you because of the maltreatment I received from my father's younger brothers. They planned to take away all my father's treasury and properties away from us since unexpected death of my father the wost part is that the leta the planned and killed my mother about nine month ago then i deceided to run out to dakar senegal where the money was deposited cus i know that if i remain with then the will kill us one day cus the are two much heartless. I am now asking you to stand on my behalf to make this claim and also l want you to stand as my partner oversea and in time of the investment as well. As I have mention earlier I will make the procedure to this issue to be well know to you if I am given the opportunity to do so. My reply starts going from ALL to a PG rating...

I tried to phone you but the rev said that he wasn't in the camp at the time and that I should phone back later.
Maybe you can phone me when you get the message?
I'm very worried about your uncle trying to get you to join prostitution.
You seem to have such beautifull, shapely breasts, I don't want to think about lots of men putting their hands all over your breasts. I just want to think about doing that myself.
Maybe if you could send me a picture of your breasts it will be even easier for me to imagine stroking them?

Time to get down to brass tacks, and avoid the obvious direction I'm trying to take this discussion in, I finally get banking information.

I use my reply to head off the 'send money for costs' appeal.
I also lie thru my teeth.

Hello sweetest.
Any word on those photos we spoke about?
I think I'll be able to sell some of them quite easily around here and can then raise some money for you to live on while we wait for the transfer to go thru.
I've spoken to Tim and he expects the transfer to go thru by the close of business on Wednesday, no later.
I did explain the critical nature of the transaction to him and since my father is a peer (and quite highly regarded in banking circles in London), he managed to pull a few strings.
It is now mostly dependant on your father's bank to facilitate this transaction.
Fortunately, thanx to my father's intervention, we won't have to pay any costs upfront! The bank agreed to take their fees only when the transfer is done.
Isn't this wonderfull news?
It means we won't have to worry about spending any other money in the meantime.
I do love my dad and when he manages to do favours like this for me, I'm reminded just how much.

So, in the meantime, get those photos taken, maybe with the refugee camp as a backdrop, I'm sure there are some people in this world who would really get a kick out of that, and I'll go about getting a website up so we can start selling them.
I've done the basic framework of such a website using the pictures you've sent me (that one where you're lying on the couch with your legs spread wide open is a particular favourite of mine - I hope to see more, in a similar pose, if you know what I mean) and will be able to go live with it within about 30 minutes of receiving the photos from you.
Don't worry about quality too much, a certain amount of 'grittiness' will just add to their value.
Just make sure the poses are good and the lighting is clear and everthing else will be fine.
If you're able to get those to me by lunchtime today, I can almost guarantee you that we'll have a couple of subscriptions by close of business and I can send you some of that money first thing in the morning.

Send word, but more importantly, send photos.

Realising that my mind is heading in only one direction and that ignoring me won't work...

good morning my darling

good day my darling
really thanks for your urgent reply to me my dear i wondering why you are sounding like this to me that you will not send me the money for my feeding unless i send you a nude photo well that sound very critical to me becouse i dont know where you are aspecting me to snap that type of photo since i dont have camera of my own ,my love do all you can to help me out of my corrent situation ,

awating to hear from you soonest.
ulochi ith hugsssssssssssss

To which I reply...

Please don't misunderstand me.

you will not send me the money for my feeding unless i send you a nude photo

I don't plan on 'sending' you money for shit.
If you need help earning money to live, I'm happy to help you.
Seeing how beautifull you are and what a wonderfully svelte and subtle body you have, and the poses in some of your pictures, made me think that the quickest way for you to earn some money would be to sell nude pics of yourself.
I can help you with that.
If you want my help, I will only charge you a small admin fee for setting up and hosting the website.
I'm pretty sure this can be covered out of profits from the selling of your pictures so you don't have to worry about spending any of your own money to try n earn this money.
I will put up the neccesary money up-front as I already have all the infrastructure in place to host such a website.

i dont have camera of my own

Ok, this is a problem.
Speak to the pastor, ask around the camp, maybe some of the UN people might be able to help your out.
In the meantime, please send me some more pictures of you, any pictures, so I can put those up on the website in the meantime.
This will help to get some more interest in the site and might even lead to some early subscriptions and some money I can then send you.

wish is only thing that is delaying me not to be with you over ,so every morning i can take a look at your face and kiss you my darling try your best to send me the money for my feeding so that i can take a very good care of my self for you .

Right, right , right.
How did you plan on getting from the Refugee Camp to the airport?
Do you have a passport?
Do you have a visa to get you into my country?

Dearest, we need to move and we need to move fast.
Make a plan and get more pictures to me as soon as possible.
If you need money to live, you must do it now.
If you thought I was going to send you money from my own pocket, you must have rocks in your head.

I love you dearly.

The final two sentences may be my favourite two in my spambaiting career.

This is where we are at the moment.

Dave, how rude. The young 'lass' comes to you for desperate help and you accuse her of trying to swindle money from you. I have half a mind (obviously) to write her and take care of her needs myself.

Actually a double whammy might turn out to be quite fun. Want to give it a go?

Ok, here ya go. I had to give your father a name.

************************

My dearest Ulochi,

You don't know me but I understand that you have been in contact with a dear friend of mine, Dave, concerning your needed help in your plight of suffering a war-torn country. Dave is the son of a close friend of the family whom we love with all our heart. His father is quite mighty in the London finance world and has much as his disposal. Dave however has been the black sheep of the family for quite some number of years and has developed quite a reputation for himself among his peers via his worldly lifestyle. Perhaps he has already spoken to you about his capital in pornography. Darren, his father and our friend, loves him without end though and would do just about anything for his son.

The problem is that, no matter how much Dave's pursuits displease his father, Dave is considered to be among the most devastatingly handsome men of his region, possibly of the world. Perhaps you've heard of him through the press. Darren cannot pass on the opportunity to use Dave's beauty in his advertising. It is indeed a sticky situation.

I am the leader of a band of young folks here in the U.S. that value our dignity and meager lifestyle. Our gaunt lifestyle here on our mountain has enabled us to drum up a sizeable estate. Perhaps we could be of assistance. You would enjoy life with us on our mountain. Please let us know how we can help.

The Rev. Dr. Bruce Edwards

Edit: Here's something I caught in one of her messages that we might exploit. In the message where she attaches photos, she is speaking of her father's brothers that are seeking to take away the money. She says this, "They planned to take away all my father's treasury and properties away from us..." Who is the us she speaks of? Could just be a typo and the writer will probably blame it on difficulty with the English language.

Here's my next email:

Miss Ulochi,

You speak of great distress in your life, and you speak of a sum of money to transfer. I am confused. I honestly don't know of what you speak, only that which my good friend Darren has told me in his recent email (copy attached minus the personal information for protection). Please explain. Secondly, I am positive that David's entertainment business is simply has a money making agenda and that he is a good and decent person on the inside. Although I have not personally spoken to David in over a year and a half, I fully believe that should you find yourself one on one with him, you would see the purity of his heart.

Please keep me informed of your needs. I pray that your exit from your nightmare would be a smooth one.

Sincerely,
The Rev. Dr. Bruce Edwards.

Subject: Distressed again

My dear Bruce,

Once again, I come to you with a heavy heart on the subject of my son, David. He has recently shared with me his latest fancy in a young lass in Senegal who is experiencing suffering at the hands of the war in progress. Please understand that I believe David's heart is good, he is just distracted at the moment by the glitter and glamour of the world. Evidently this young girl Ulochi is in dire straits in her homeland and seeks help in eluding the plight. David's ultimate wish is to lend a hand but he seems not to have the desire at the moment to sway from his current profession in the, let's say, entertainment industry. I also know that should Ulochi gaze upon David's ravishing looks, she might, no I take that back, she WOULD weaken immediately. Bruce, I know you have developed a utopia on your West Virginian mountain, so I ask dear friend if there is any way of entering into this drama to help save this one young lass. I am fully aware that you do not know her, that you are fully busy with you own clan and will fully understand if you are not able at this moment. As you know, I am contrained by my position to remain distant from the drama but perhaps I could lend a financial hand under the table so to speak. Please let me know of your desires. Again her name is Ulochi and her email address is ulochi4ur@yahoo.co.uk.

As always, I remain your faithful and dear friend,
Darren

My reply

My dearest Ulochi I am only trying to help you.
I feel like I have received the inspiration to help you.
I feel compelled to help you my preciousss and that is all I'm trying to do here.
Where must I get money to send to you?
Must I tell my children they can't eat because I must take the food from their mouths, from the loving hands of my wife as she cooks it so they may not eat because...
Why?
Because why?
I do not know where to find this money you talk about.
Actually, that is not true.
I do know where to find this money.
You do not want to go into prostitution despite your uncle's insistence that you do.
The very thought of this just breaks my heart. But it is quick money. Which is apparantly what you need. Now I have been manifested in your life to give you this great news. I can help you get the money you need, without going into prostitution.
The REV FATHER doesn't sound too worried about your uncle putting you into prostitution. Why should he be concerned about a couple of nude pictures? You will be able to feed half the refugee camp with the money I can make for you selling such pictures.
As a matter of fact, if the Rev Father wants to get involved, maybe we can do a whole calendar of girls in the refugee camps. Did you ever see the movie Calendar Girls? Something along the lines of The Full Monty. Get a couple of the better looking and better fed refugee girls and get them to get their kit off for the camera. Make a calendar of it and you'll be able to tell the UN to take their feeding scheme and shove it, you'll be dining on beluga my sweet.

As you see, I am only trying to help.
While you're getting used to the idea of the nude pictures, please do send me some other pictures of you. I long to see your happy, smiling face again.
You are my truly.
My one and only.
You are Ulochi.

You keep asking me for money to live.
I keep telling you that I don't have money to give you.
I also keep telling you that I can help you make money by selling your pictures on the internet.
To do this, I have already created a website to put your pictures up. I can have this website online very quickly and from my experience can guarantee you some very quick money. Which you tell me you need in order to eat. And I presume use to pay for using the internet somewhere so you can check your mail as regularly as you do.
Food. Internet. Interesting priorities.
In the meantime I'm waiting for you to sign the papers to transfer your father's money into my account.
They were faxed to the REV FATHER this morning. If he hasn't brought them to you yet, there is something odd going on and I suspect the rev father might be in cahoots with your uncles.
Do you understand why I want to help you?
Do you understand how I want to help you?

Ulochi,

I wonder if my initial email has reached you. When I first received word of your distress, I immediately felt a familiar pang in my stomach for you and your situation as I have suffered greatly as well, albeit in my past. I wonder if you might share more with me that I might come to know you and your needs better. I anxiously await word from you.

Doc B.

P.S. Have you had word of late from our mutual friend Dave? I should really take a moment to correspond with him. I long to know of his recent successes in life.

Doesn't look like John is going anywhere, so I have to face that reality and prepare to leave. It is absolutely the last thing in the world that I want to do. I love my job and what I do. I love working for the City and with the folks in this office. And I am completely at a loss why this is happening to me. It breaks my heart. But it's reality and I have to move on.

Very interesting. I read the whole thing. At first I thought, "How could someone be so gullible?" But the power of addiction, in this case greed, it a powerful thing. It is still amazing that someone can still fall victim to such a long-standing and popular scam.

To which I reply, lying thru my teeth again, ...

Thank you so much for juliet's email. So is she happy that I try n make money with her pictures and send that to you so you can buy food and stuff?

Last time I spoke to Tim he told me that he had sent out the forms that you have to sign for the release of the funds.
He's been in contact with REV FATHER and sent the forms to him. This is getting very urgent now. Please ensure that you get those forms from Rev Father and let me know when you've signed them.
Ok?

I also email 'Juliet'...

I got your email from your friend Ulochi.
I'm trying to help her make some money for food while living in the refugee camp and came up with the idea of putting some of her pictures up on the internet and making money by selling them to people.
These pictures do need to be rather spicy in order to attract buyers and money.
She told me that you have some pictures that might work.
Would you be so kind as to send them to me and I can then stick them up on the website?

Send word.

To which I dutifully, if some what testily respond...

Thanx for the pic.
There seems to be some misunderstanding here.
First of all, despite the fact that I'd like to do things with Ulochi that one wouldn't normally even do with farm animals, I am neither her boyfriend nor her husband.
Secondly, I don't know how you managed to generate the picture that you sent me, but it's fine.
Have more taken and if you can get to take some pictures that I can sell, I can help both you and Ulochi with some money for your livelihood while in the refugee camp.
I don't know where you think I must get $150 from.
I'm trying to help both you and Ulochi and you seem intent on stonewalling me on every turn.
Get your kit off, get me some saucy pics I can sell and then I'll be able to send you all the money you want.

There is no 'my money' involved here.
i'm offering to help you earn some money by offering to set up and host a website selling pictures (ideally nudes and mabe some girl-girl stuff, at first) of yourself and maybe Ulochi.
By doing this, you will be able to get some money. Ulochi assures me that you desperately need money for food. I'm trying to help you earn some. I'm going to some expense setting up this website but I am happy to make that contribution if it will help you guys out. But you have to come to the party and send me those pictures.
I'm trying to give you a hand and you seem insistent on ripping my arm off and smacking me in the face with the soggy end.
Please don't. Please just send me the pictures.
Or tell me that you don't need the money and don't need my help.

Sent this morning to the Snake:

My dear,

A sum of 4.6 million U.S. dollars is a very large sum of money. I can't imagine that you have more than that. I have to admit that I am very, very confused. In response to your wedding announcement, I sent a personal email to my long lost friend Dave, the first communication I have had with him in well over a year. I wanted to extend my congratulations to him for his upcoming wedding plans with you. He has indeed indicated that you and he will be together soon and that the wedding plans are in full swing. But he also eluded to but not in great detail a sum of money that you have asked him to transfer into his account. The sum was 4.6 million U.S. dollars. You claim that this is THE sum that your late father, may he rest in peace, left you. I find it a strange coincidence that you claim to have more than one father with exactly the same sum of money left you as an inheritance. Please explain. How are you to tranfer 4.6 million dollars into two different accounts. Have you been telling me the truth? I would like to think that I am getting to know you better than that.

I am truly looking forward to attending your wedding. Perhaps you and your new husband and my friend Dave could visit us or even consider residing with us here in our utopia on our mountain.

I look forward to your next correspondence.

Here's another angle I was considering, but it may lead too far into this scam. I was considering transferring the money they are requesting in cents and claiming that Western Union is goofing up. For instance, if they request $1000, I'd wire them 10 cents. But the Western Union fees would probably not make it possible.

Sorry, been offline for a while.

Here's a new twist I'm trying. It just came to my while I was typing.
It's the same basic stuff at the bottom, I've left it in incase you're bored.
I replied with my usual "Tell me more".
He did.
I replied with 'How much money do you want me to send you."
To which he replied that he didn't want my money, he just outlined the transaction.
So I sent him this...

Dude, I've been around the block once or twice. I know what's cutting here and for once, I don't mind.
I've worked hard my whole life and I've made a fair bit of money. I don't have any dependants or children to leave the money to and I don't hold with the concept of charity, they can work for their money the way I have for mine.

A night of unbridled-, and unprotected, passion a couple of years ago left me HIV positive and my T-count is now on a downward spiral and not even the latest cocktail of anti-retrovirals are helping. The long and the short of it is, I'm dying.
And yes, while I am fighting against the dying of the light, I try n do so with a bit of a sense of humour.
So when I received your email and realised it was one of the 419-scam style letters, I figured to myself that I might as well give some of my money to a working man like yourself.
You may not be a 'pillar of your community', but in my life in business I've had to make a couple of deals that can only sometimes be described as even remotely legal.

So, I'm going to give you some of my money.

I go back to my question, how much money do you want me to send you?

Ok, have it your way. I'm sorry I called your 'clean business deal' a 419. I meant no offence by it. I trust none were taken.

He has the security code but because he worked closely with Abacha (I think, I'm losing detail here) he's under surveillance and can't go fetch the parcel with the millions himself.

********************

He responds with:
Dear Edwards

Thank you for your email Please note i am not a spamming, if i dont need thgis fund, i would not have contacted you ok, i needed your consent that is why i did mail you,Here is full details of how this transaction will be achieved.

Firstly, i will like to clearly make you understand that, legally, you have nothing to worry about as far as this inheritance claim is concerned. As a lawyer with twenty years experience, i make bold to say with full authority, that this business is 100% legal and safe.

I was the deceased attorney, this legally means that i am mandated to carry out any business dealings on his behalf, as if he was present, i was his attorney for several years until his death.I was his closest confidant.

As explained above, the deceased had no next of kin to inherit the mentioned amount and his entire estate, been the deceased attorney, i am the only person who can confirm to the bank the claim of any next of kin and also advice the bank to effect payment to such a beneficiary.

And the reason that you were contacted is because you bear the same surname as the deceased and that the deceased migrated from your country down to Nigeria.I want you to put in a claim as the next of kin to the deceased, when i authorize the payment to you and the money gets into your account, you will take 50% while i take 50%. if you agree with this, then this is how we are going to progress with the business-:

(a). You will be required to engage the services of a lawyer, who will professional act on your behalf as your attorney, such a lawyer to hired must be duly registered in Nigeria and practices in Nigeria. The attorney will process all the required legal back up documents from the high court of Nigeria and forward same to the bank with the banks application form for inheritance claims on your behalf.

(b). When the bank receives your claims application, they will immediately draw my attention to it, notifying me that some one has put in a claim as the next of kin to the deceased. I will be asked by the bank to verify the genuineness of the said claim and recommend to them, what action they should take as regards payment.

(c). The bank on the receipt of my confirmation, will now get in touch with you through your attorney asking that you present them with your banking coordinates, so that they can transfer the money into your nominated account.

(d). When the bank receives your banking information, they will release the money into your nominated account. The above is a very concise explanation of the entire process of this business transaction. This mentioned process will only take ten banking days to complete from the day that your attorney submits the papers to the bank. Now, i will only do this business with you on the condition that you will promise to be absolutely honest with me and that you will respect the confidentiality of this business transaction and keep it as such.

Again we will have to familiarize ourselves, by providing a picture identity of ourselves, so that we can both know whom we are dealing with business wise.

I await your urgent response and i want you to call me as soon as you receive this mail.

Best Regards
Robert Clarkson

My re-response:

Listen Buddy, your first email was littered with
standard catch words and phrases typical of a
run-of-the-mill Nigerian 419 scam. I've seen it a
million times as I use your techniques in my classes

writer is one as well. I am a professor of English at

So, you admit that you are a thief! You used the inclusive word "too", or if I could translate using small words so someone of your small intelligence can understand, "You are a thief just like me." So now that the admission is out in the open, please explain (not that I don't already understand but that maybe I can get you to fathom what a moron you are), why would I want to work with a thief. Doesn't seem like that's a very good business plan for me.

You know, Bobbie, I couldn't care less what one person of one nation thinks one governmental person from a particular nation is possibly doing to a governmental person of another nation, or his nation. It's one person, sir. The world is so full of people of every kind and every persuasion, and thieving people...including you, sir...are going to rear up their ugly heads and make such noise that we can't help but hear their gears grinding. The rest of the world's percentage of people are good and kind and seek to find the good in others. Maybe you should give up your evil scamming business and try to find a decent job that makes both you and your family proud and generates a pure sense of accomplishment.

Let me know when you do.

Love,
me

It is definitely hard to mix the two. In fact, unicycling in general is hard to mix with other things. Drinking alcohol is one obvious example of a thing that doesn't mix well, but tying your shoelace and learning to write cursive with your "weak hand" also come to mind.

Maybe one of these days someone will start a JC thread about just what types of activities ARE appropriate to mix with unicycling.

My dearest Olson Berghart,

I am great today and greatful to be alive. It is a wonderful life and it is a beautiful day. The temperature is approximately 60 degrees today and the mountain flowers are vibrant and their aroma permeates the air. Just this morning as I was performing my morning exercises, I paused to watch a herd of whitetail deer move silently through my mountain meadow. They were at peace as I am this fine morning. As I first ventured outside this morning, I was greeted by the overhead sound of a bald eagle as he searched for his breakfast, such a grand sight and a magnificent creature. Life on our mountain is very peaceful and certain. I wish for you the same. When can you join us as a special guest at our mountain home? I am attaching a photo taken by a guest and friend to our commune about a year ago. It is a photo of myself, one of my wives and several of my children. I hope it is agreeable to you.

Of my name, I sincerely apologize. It appears that you and I have much in common. We are both struggling with the spelling of our names. If you had not been so honest with me to this point, I would have been suspect of foul play. But I believe we have straightened out our mistakes. I have sent you an email with an incorrect spelling of my name. In our culture, it is a class 5 error to misrepresent our name. As such, I have a time scheduled with our Grand Counselor this afternoon to make penitence. It will require the sacrifice of a portion of my huckleberry harvest, but I am more than willing to serve such for my error as I believe you and I are becoming close.

After years looking longingly at all these new friends you seem to make without even lifting a finger I've finally received a couple of these e-mails. So here goes my first ever spam bait:

First the spam:

From:Mike Johnson
RUE 25 MACCORY
ABIDJAN-COTE D'IVOIRE.
WEST AFRICA

Dear,

My name is Mike Johnson from Sierra Leonian. I am 20 years old and a student. Please I would like you to assist me as urgent as you can, before they kill me.My father is a wealthy cocoa merchant.Trouble began early last two year when my father's associates began suspecting that my father is not givingn proper accounts of all the tonnes of cocoa being cultivated by local farmersn in some villages.

This mistrust deepens between Oct-Sept, 2004 when they discovered avery large some of money my father deposited with a Bank here in ABIDJAN-COTE D'IVOIRE (FORMALLY IVORY COAST in West Africa. As a result of this discovery and the envy on the money he was poisioned by his associates. At his hospital bed ,he revealed to me the reasons of his sickness and directed me where to get the documents of the said deposit which he made on my name as the next of kin, being the only child. He dvised me that in case he die, that I should not stay in this country Sierre Leone because his associates will equally kill me hence my mother had died five years ago of breast cancer.

He also instructed that if he dies, I should look for a foreign partner who will help me to transfer the money out of this place (Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire), to his account and the person will help me to invest the money in that country. Based on this, I had to contact you bearing in mind that you will be humane enough to protect my life. My father finally died on the 5th of june,2005 and since then, I was out of school and went into hiding because of my father's asociates. All the relevant documents of the $8.000,000.(Eight Million United States Dollars) that was deposited in a Commercial Bank by my late father, are with me now.

I will give you 15% of the total money, if you can help me transferring it into your Account, for onward investment in your country. Please contact me immediately with the above E-mail address and include your telephone and Fax numbers to enable me send you all necessar documents asregards the money before they kill me.

I'm waiting for your urgent reply.
Best regards.sincerely,
Mike Johnson

--------------------------------------------------

And now for the bait:

Hey Mike,

How's it going (other than your recently aquired orphan status and death threats)?

I've been following the news on Sierra Leonian from here in Britain. I was horrified to see the trouble you're getting from the Socialist Oompah Loompah guerillas. Here's hoping it all turns out sweet.

I'm a similar age to you, I've been looking for a new pen pal for ages. How fortuitous you should coontact me detailing your plight at this time. What hobbies do you have? I enjoy crochet and pole dancing. Maybe you have some fresh killah moves/stitches you could teach me.

I reckon I could probably lend you a hand shifting all that sweet, sweet chocolate profit. What sort of help do you need? I'm usually free Thursday afternoons so I could pop over with a wheelbarrow and help you move it if you like. Maybe later we could go rollerskating?

My e-mail address is munilooney@gmail.com

I don't like giving out my number to people unless I know them well. I had some trouble from a punter at the bar where I dance you see.

Maybe you could give me yours though.

Yours funkily,

To which I replied:

But of course I shall help. I'm there like a bear... Ready, steady and a little bit eggy. Just tell me what you need fellow Johnson. I stand ready and waiting with a hand on my wang just ready to press the buttons necessary to felching well help you out.

Hi Mike,

Ok, I have been doing some thinking about this business opportunity. Before we can proceed (And I am very keen to proceed), I would like to know slightly better the man I am dealing with. You sound like a good man of honourable intentions and yes, I shall help you with my full love. In fact, I think it could be safely said that I will love you long time for a cut of $8,000,000.

Now the way I am going to proceed with this is through my Uncle's business. Unfortunately, unlike yourself I am not well endowed but my Uncle is willing to help us with this arrangement. He is a successful businessman in the otter trade and after discussing this venture with me is happy to help.

So I shall be a mediator between my Uncle (well endowed) and yourself (well endowed but with an uncomfortable obstruction hindering the money shot).

I hope you are fine with this arrangement.

As you requested here are my phone and fax numbers
phone: 44709xxxxxx

fax:

I shall be in touch with this bank after the weekend. To confirm the details.

Your life and you future are indeed safe (if slightly sticky) in my hands.

Many full love for long time,

I recently bid on and lost an item on eBay. Since then, I've received two second chance offers from different individuals. When I go to My eBay, there are zero second chance offers indicated. I've not seen this one before. Here's copies of the emails I've received. One is from Italy even though the auction originated out of California. You learn something new everyday, eh?

********************

Dear sir ,
I own the item that you recently tried to buy by bidding trough the eBay
sistem , item title :Learn & Master Guitar Steve Krenz "Brand new course".
If you are still interested in buying my item please contact me cause the
winner of the item did not agree with my payment & shipping terms .
I'm offering it to you at the last bid price you placed for the last time on my
auction US $170.01.Please answer me if you are interested in buying it , waiting for your kind answer.

randy19martin@yahoo.com

********************

This guy is persistant, got to give him that. Even when I told him for the second time that I didn't want his offer, he insists that I still send the payment. This is the first one I received. It took me awhile to recognize it as scamming.

Second Chance Offer
The seller is making this Second Chance Offer because the high bidder was either unable to complete the transaction or the seller has a duplicate item for sale.
The selling of this item through Second Chance Offer is in compliance with eBay policy; you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and will be eligible for all eBay services associated with a transaction, such as fraud protection.

Act Now - This Offer Expires Soon
To take advantage of this opportunity, please act quickly. This offer expires 28-03-2007 10:30:44 AM PHT

Complete your eBay transaction in 5 easy steps:

Buyer and seller agree on the transaction terms and a selling price.
Seller contacts eBay with the transaction details, eBay accepts the transaction and offers purchase protection to the buyer (if the transaction is declined, no further action is required from either the buyer or the seller).
The buyer sends payment and the seller receives it. After the payment was received, the seller must notify eBay. Buyer will send the payment details directly to the seller email address. The seller has three business days to send the buyer and eBay the tracking number of the shipment. If no tracking number is provided, a full refund is immediately sent to the buyer.
Buyer receives the merchandise and has five days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the buyer should accept the merchandise. If he refuses the merchandise, the buyer must ship the merchandise back to the seller within three business days.
After the inspection period is over, the buyer must contact eBay with the result of the inspection. If the buyer refuses the merchandise, the refund will be sent to the buyer after the tracking number for the returned shipment is verified.

The merchandise must be sent to:

Buyer's shipping address provided to the seller getutza1959@gmail.com

Next step to be taken: The buyer must send the payment to the seller

We know that we learn every eBay member to use services such as PayPal, Escrow which are safer than Western Union Money Transfer. But is our responsibility to make every option safe and tell that this seller is verified by our services and you can have all the trust in his requests.

 Payment instructions:

To submit the payment with Western Union Money Transfer, you have two options:

1. Pay for the transfer with cash at a local Western Union agent.
Click here to locate the agents in your area
http://www.westernunion.com/info/agentInquiryIntl.asp

2. If you are now in the USA and need to use a credit/debit card (Visa or MC), call 1-800-CALL-CASH and make the payment to the verified name of the seller.
An additional fee will be charged on most cards because this transaction will be considered a cash advance on your card. Several IDs and utility bills are required before the funds are paid. Therefore, no one else but your seller can pick up the money. Your payments cannot be lost in the mail, like money orders or checks. Sellers located in the Milano are not yet eligible for the PayPal Buyer Protection, which means you are not protected against fraud if you pay this seller by PayPal. Our responsibility is to make every option safe.

This seller is verified by our services and you can have all the trust in his requests. Because the fee to send a Western Union Money Transfer is high, compared to other methods of payment, we have arranged with the seller to compensate for half of this fee ( i.e. if it costs you $100 to send the payment, take $50 from the amount insured and send the balance).

Once the payment was sent, email the seller ( getutza1959@gmail.com ) the following information:

1. 10 digit MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number):
2. Exact sender's name on file with Western Union:
3. Your street address on file with Western Union:
4. City and country where you sent the money from:
5. Amount sent:
Then wait for the confirmation the payment was received. Within 3 business days, you will receive the tracking number for your merchandise.

 Purchase protection and refund:

Currently, this seller has a US $20,000.00 deposit in an eBay managed purchase protection account.

Transactions with this eBay seller are covered by purchase protection against fraud and description errors. For your safety, this account was locked today, for 90 days time period. The seller is unable to withdraw any money from it, within this period.Should you need a refund for this transaction, the insured amount will be taken from the seller's purchase protection account and sent to you. The refund is sent to your bank account, or by check or money order. The way you are refunded is at your choice. You have 90 days from the above verification date to request a refund. Refund requests are processed within 3 days.

The insurer of this transaction is eBay Inc., located at 2145 Hamilton
Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125, United States of America.

Can you cut it down to a hundred pounds or so? I'd be interested then.

I'm trying to work out why I've suddenly got so many scam e-mails suddenly appearing. i'm beginning to think that perhaps a previous scammer who I toyed with passed on my e-mail address to loads of his budskies as a bit of a revenge tactic.

Paul send me a pretty generic return email so I responded with the following:

Paul,

Thanks for the return email. But you're still talking about wanting to deposit 5 millions pounds of something in my apartment. I didn't think my floor structure would support 5 million pounds, so I checked with the building superintendant. He says that the floor load is 40 pounds per square foot so whatever it is you're talking about, you will have to reduce it to at least that much before I can accept it.

Thanks for your help.

I am looking for a representative in the states who will be working for me as a partime worker and i will be willing to pay 10% for every transaction, which wouldnt affect ur present state of work, someone who would help me recieve payments from my customers in the united states.

I mean someone that is responsible and reliable, cause the cost of coming to the untied state and getting payments is very expensive.I am working on setting up a branch in the state, so for now I need a representative in the united state who will be handling the payment aspect.

This business will not cost you any amount of money, my customers will send you the CHECK through a courier company and the courier company will deliver the package to your doorstep, as soon as you receive the package from the courier company, just take the CHECK to your bank and pay it in and when it clears you get me informed them.

want kept safely overseas under your supervision.

Dear Friend,

I am making this contact hoping that you will be willing and capable of handling this proposal. I am Mr.william juwais. An accounts officer with a private firm here in South Africa. My company handles consultancy and seismographic jobs for Gold Refinery companies including Texaco,Shell and Conoco oil Companies.

The embassy was contacted to trace them but to no avail. The insurance company that Kenyan company contacted to pay compensation to the victims had the same problem so they had to pay the compensation to our company.

As the accounts officer of this company was opportune to have helped in the Company’s financial transaction with the bank. At the time of his demise, The company had an excess of Sixty Eight Million United State Dollars (US$68m) in deposit with theCompany’s account in a Bank name with held, The Bank has written several times on this issue but I told them to wait that the partner and Shareholder of Late Mr. James Curt will contact them.

Presently, our company is about to fold because the money paid by Kenyan airlines has been exhausted in paying salaries and other expenses. I want you to assist us by presenting your self as the partner and also Share holder of the Company so that the bank will pay the money in your favor into any account which you will provide.

As soon as the money gets into your account, I will come over to your country for sharing and to invest my part in any viable business with your assistance. The mode of sharing will be 25% for you, 70% for us and 5% for expenses and taxation.

It is really nice to hear from you after all these years. How is Kendra? I am working now in South Africa as Projects Manager at the Department of Minerals & Energy here in Pretoria.

He's in Pretoria?
Want me to give him a call?
I could be Kendra's soon-to-come-out-of-the-closet ex-lover.

I sent this:

Hi John,

Kendra is doing almost okay. Lover problems and all that. She is so depressed that she had to quit her job as exectutive secretary to the president of General Electric here in Rhode Island. It was devastating to her. Now she is working as a single mother of nine kids (can you believe it?) and doesn't know what to do. I wish I could help but, alas, I am also unemployed. I do have some savings but I know that it won't last long. That is why I am so interested in what you have to offer.

Do you have a phone number where I could reach you? I think it would be grand to speak with you to speed up the process.

Looking forward to your help.

Will These Strategies Land Me in Jail?

No they will not. The strategies I teach are NOT ILLEGAL. However some of them may violate the terms of use of the lottery industry you play at.

None of my techniques in any way tamper with the lottery industry. I cannot magically put a million dollars into your account or give you winning numbers (although my techniques are just as effective!).

Will it Work in My Country?

Yes, the Lottery Cheaters Guide works for anyone in any Country.

Is There an Extra Cost After I Buy?

No, apart from the usual cost to buy your lotto tickets each game, there are no other extra costs at all.

yay! the advert at the bottom of the screen on unicyclist forums will make me rich just like everyone who got that E-mail!

i "accedentally" deleted mine...:o

i actually received one of those in the mail, they sent a check to"cover taxes" that i would hopefully cash.....kinda mean of them...got my hopes up for about...two seconds...

Very strange phone call today.

I answered the phone and found myself speaking with a woman with possibly an Hispanic accent who asked for Mary. I told her that Mary was working, that I was her husband, and could I help her. It was difficult to understand her, not so much from her accent I don't think, but from her bluntness and talking in circles about something that she failed to introduce succinctly. She finally told me that she was from Midland Credit Management, a collections agency.

What I finally gathered was that she was accusing Mary of making a purchase in 2001 on a British Petroleum credit card and failing to make the payment. She said she had spoken to Mary this past Saturday and Mary had told her that yes, she had made that purchase then Mary had hung up on her. She told me that Mary's credit was in jeopardy and we needed to make a payment right away. She would settle for a percentage of the original purchase to settle the account.

I told this scammer that Mary had not spoken to anyone, that I did the finances in the family, and that we had never owned a British Petroleum credit card. She responded accusingly that if I was responsible for the finances, I should make this payment right away to avoid further actions from her company.

I asked for the last four of the social security number she had to which she responded by giving me four digits that didn't match Mary's number. So I told her that she had the wrong person. (She did have Mary's name right and our phone number correct though.) She insisted that Mary was the right person and that she had spoken with Mary last Saturday. I told her to get lost so she said she would mark our account as "Refused to pay".

Just to be sure, I ran our credit reports and found no anomolies. I also called the States Attorney's office and requested a complaint form for nusiance phone calls. I dialed *57 on our phone which performs a trace on the last received call but the call had originated outside the calling area and couldn't be traced. (It's a $5 charge for a successful trace.)

Again, this thread is for posting this type of stuff so the rest of us can learn and be more knowledgeable about what scams are being perpetrated on the public.

They're beginning to turn on their own now...

Attn: Sir,

After waiting to hear from you or your partners in Banque Togolaise Pour Le Commerce Et L Industrie ( BTCI) for a long time now decieded to make this direct approach to you as my last verdict in other not to let it be as if I have anything in mind against you. l do not know if you have asked yourself why each time the release of this fund is approved, all of a sudden, the payment will be stopped or one problem or the other will come up. If you have not asked this question or you do not know, this is an opportunity for me to tell you.

Some time ago, your Banque Togolaise Pour Le Commerce Et L Industrie under the leadership of Dr. Alumuna Dialo l mean the people that contacted you about the inheritance funds of your late relative in Republic of Togo. My dear wife who works with the Federal Ministry Of Finance under my office and requested me to assist them conclude a money transfer deal they had with you.

They requested me to assist them by removing the original name of the beneficiary (Next Of Kin) of this of the fund through Banque Togolaise Pour Le Commerce Et L Industrie. I and you knows fully well that you dont have any dead relative in Republic of Togo, rather the Original Next of kin is a man from USA ( Name Withheld for security reasons). and his late brother is (The person of from Carlifornia company’s name and bank particulars from the Banque Togolaise Pour Le Commerce Et L Industrie vetting computer and replacing them with your name and your bank details in order to make you appear as the rightfull Beneficiary and Next Of Kin and there by presenting you for the Transfer payment of $9,500.000.00 USD

I agreed on condition that they will pay me US$100,000 as soon as your name appears as the Next Of Kin. I did as agreed and demanded to be paid, but your friends, The people you have confined with has been defrauding you for a long time now asking you to pay money from time to time demanding large sum of money from you. That is SCAM.

Do you know that up till now have not received a single cent from them and have not set my eyes on any of them? I know all these while you have been decieved by many Fraudsters in Republic of Togo and Africa as a whole, people calling you on the telephone claiming that they are the Minister of Finance. Based on their attitude decided to stop the fund release movement because l cannot be denied of my right in my own office considering the risk as it might affect my job. Secondly I know the source of the funds that you are not the rightful Next Of Kin although l am the only person privileged to know this information and it is a fact.

Why l am making this clear to you is that l can see that you from the list of the money you have spent so far I cant be so inhuman to deny you this fund. Now l am ready to forget the past. l do not need the US$100,000 any longer from you but a good reward from your mind. I need your assurance that those colleagues will be totally kept out of this transaction. I know that none of them is aware of my new approach to you.

Stop spending your money unnecessarily to Banque Togolaise Pour Le Commerce Et L Industrie and other parasteters in Togo both here and overseas because you will not receive this money without my hand in it. l personally did the work at the beginning and only me can perform it.

Finally need your promise that no official of the Banque Togolaise Pour Le Commerce Et L Industrie will be aware of my involvement in this regard because of my position.. Now re-assure that you will be willing to compensate me, that you will assist my wife to establish a foreign account in your country where my compensation will be lodged. Also a KTT FUND RELEASE APPROVAL DOCUMENTS will be sent to you for endorsement after which l will remit the money within 48 hours.

l am a man of my word. If you are ready to conclude this business with me, kindly contact me on email so that we can have a chat over this issue once and for all. But if the reverse is the case, do not bother yourself to reach me and forget about this fund. They must have been decieving you claiming that they are going to give you this funds through the help of United Nations, Let me ask you, Do you think that this fund will leave Africa without my hands in it? Well I am the only person that can make this done.

BEST REGARDS.
Mr. Zarifou Ayeva

Finance, Federal Republic of Togo

What type of cancer do you have? is it testicular? I lost a bollock to that back in Vietnam. Gutted.

Eh up,

Fear not, I am as honest as the queen is sexy.

I shall also make sure that the money is well spent in our orphanage to teach our little bundles of potential a trade... In fact some say it is the oldest trade in the world. I love indigent people they're totally cromulant.

What have you told your lawyer about me? Did you mention my excellent hair, long legs and sparkling wit? I certainly hope you did as I feel I couldn't do business with a man unbeknownst of my charms.

Mouston, Mouston, Mouston... I'm sure I know that name from somewhere. Was his sister a lady of negotiable affection? Perhaps I worked with her back in those halcyon days of free love in the seventies.

And fear not I shall be totally confidential. I don't like to brag about my AMAZING WONDROUS SELFLESS ACTS OF CHARITY!

Shit I'm good.

Perhaps one day we shall meet and you'd be good enough to give me some manual relief.

Or perhaps you'll be dead before then.

about $1.150.000 u.s dollars

Amount.one million one hundred and fifty thousand us dollars.pls be ready to assist me and
receive the money in your name because I need some money from there to use it and treat my self ok.

infact let me go streghth to the point.there is some requirements doctor request

so the reason why i am wrighting you this latter is for you to help me and receive the money in
your name because as am in hospital here nothing i can do by my self.

as you will help me and receive the money i'm ready to give you 20% of the money and the
money is coming from Iraqi.

I'm expecting your urgent response.

thanks edward steven,

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy Stephen Edward (or is it t'other way round?)

How's it HANGING? Sorry to hear about your war wounds, I picked up some pretty nasty WOUNDS myself back in Nam. It was a fly-drive PACKAGE a few years ago. I scraped my knee and caught a PARASITIC worm which gave me some trouble but which, FUNNILY enough, I named Steve. Isn't life full of little coinkydinks.

I did meet a LOVELY lady there though, her name was Ophelia Bits Fer Fife Dowla. What a woman.

So tell me, what sort of wounds did you incur whilst fighting in Iraq for such a WORTHWHILE cause? I hope you didn't lose a limb. My cat lost a couple of LIMBS trying to play American football. Last time I try and save money by using animals as sports equipment. Mind you the GERBIL baseball was pretty awesome now I think back.

Tell me, which unit did you SERVE in when you were in the army? My father was in the Elite Egg n Soldiers Unit. Boy, he could tell you some stories about the good old days in EENSU.

But anyway, enough small talk, let's get down to some good old fashioned business talk. This deal sounds right up my alley... TELL ME MORE!

From what I can gather you need $1,150,000 to treat yourself. That's quite some TREAT!

I can't quite understand why it is you need the money to be in my name though could you try and explain some more. I mean I'm HAPPY to do it as you'd have to be a FOOL to turn down 20% of $1,150,000 but I need to know a bit more background. I mean, this is all LEGAL isn't it?

But yeah, talk to me baby. I need facts, figures, pie charts, the lot.

I've got a good feeling about you though. Sort of warm and sweet smelling.

Who loves ya baby?

We advised you to reconfirm to me your details as required below to enable us
start processing your payment to you:

I'm thankful to the Central Bank of Nigeria for catching this error. But in a classic twist of international intrigue, I was personally contacted by Robert S. Dr. Balogun is not who he says he is.

From the office of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation:
ROBERT MUELLER III
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FBI
FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION FBI.WASHINGTON D.C

payment which was fully approved in your favor. We have taken out time in
screening this project as stipulated on our protocol of operation and
have finally confirmed that your payment is 100% genuine and hitch free
from all facet.

In addition, also be informed that we recently had a meeting with the
Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma
Charles Soludo along with some of the top officials of the ministry regarding
your case and they told us that the only problem they are facing right
now is that some unscrupulous element are impersonating the Executive
Governor and the Central Bank office to scam innocent people off their
hard earned money. The FBI now wants to use this medium to warn you as a
citizen to be very careful prior to this irregularities so that you do
not fall victim to this ugly circumstance caused by these fraudsters.

immediately the real office of the Governor of the Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) only with the below informations accordingly:

NAME: PROF. CHUKWUMA CHARLES SOLUDO
OFFICE ADDRESS: CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA, CENTRAL BUSINESS

the CBN Governor, her name is Mrs. Joan C. Bailey she came to collect
your payment value sum of US$11,500,000.00 (Eleven Million Five Hundred

behalf. She presented to the CBN all the necessary documentations
evidencing that you authorised her to collect these funds on your behalf. She
provided a bank account with WACHOVIA BANK where these funds will be
transfered,But the CBN office did the wise thing by insisting on hearing
from you personally before transfer of funds.
However, they contacted the FBI to help them investigate this matter if
you really sent Mrs. Joan C. Bailey to go and receive your funds from
the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN on your behalf. Is this True? Because
this is another faudulent attempt by fraudsters to use a foreigner as a
front to receive your payment without your authorisation which was why we
were contacted by the CBN Office. If you did not authorise the release
of your funds to anybody then you should contact immediately the real
CBN office with the above email address and get more informations for

This one is great. Apart from the bad vocabulary and other obvious errors, the spammer included no live links upon which to click. What a waste of his time. :D

I had a letter from the daughter of the former ruler of Cote d' Ivoire (vrobert000@yahoo.com; vrobert19@yahoo.cn). She seemed like a nice young woman. I was hoping she could use her contacts to help me find one of my old buisnesspartners who used to be a general in he Liberian army, but now she won't answer my e-mails anymore. I hope nothing happened to her.

Today I've met(in virtuality) a very nice Zimbabwan farmer who's looking to transfer his six million US dollars out of South Africa. I presented him with a counter-offer of starting a millitary coup in Zimbabwe to set things right for him and his family and offered him free access to one hundred million US dollars of my drug money to help buy guns for the revolution.

I'll wait to see what he thinks.

I just got this

FROM THE DESK OF MR.ROMUALD FARID,
BILL AND EXHANGE UNIT
BANK INTERNATIONAL DU BURKINA(B.I.B)
OUAGADOUGOU-BURKINA FASO.

URGENT ASSISTANCE IN TRANSACTION

I am the manager at the bill and exchange department at BANK INTERNATIONAL DU BURKINA (B.I.B) here in Ouagadougou,Burkina Faso.
In my department we discovered an abandoned sum of US$18.2m dollars ( USdollars)in an account that belonging to one of our foreign customer.Who died along with his entire family in monday, 31 july, 2000 in a plane crash in paris. Please visit this site that is one of the evidence the directors brought in other to swallow the money at the end of the day,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/859479.stm

Since we got information about his death, we have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unless some body applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidlings and laws but unfortunately we learnt that all his supposed next of kin or relation died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim. It is therefore upon this discovery that I now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and we don't want this money to go into the bank treasury as unclaimed bill. The banking law and guidline here stipulates that if such money remained unclaimed after seven years, the money will be transfered into the bank treasury as unclaimed fund. The request of foreigner as next of kin in this business is occassioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and a Burkinabe cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner. I agree that 45% of this money will be for you as a respect to the provision of a foriegn account ,5%will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business and 50% would be for me Thereafter, I will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentage indicated Therefore, to enable the immediate transfer of this fund to your desiggnited bank account ,you must apply first to the bank as a relation or next of kin of the deceased with a text of application that i will send to you,so i will like you to send to me your private telephone and faxnumber for easy and effective communication and location where in the money will be remitted.

Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax or email the text of the application . I will not fail to bring to your notice this transaction is hitch-free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the transfer. You should contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter. Trusting to hear from you immediately. Please get in touch with me by email to enable us discuss further.

Regards.

That part is halarious. It would really be unfortunate if you died in a plane crash and all your immediate and extended family was in it, not to mention everyone else remotely related to you.

If these goons are able to announce the existence of a plane crash, you would think that there has to be a record of the event somewhere. Is there a source for plane crash data that could be used against these guys? Would be fun to throw a line at them!

Bubba

Hello Bubba,

Sorry for my late response. I assumed you were no longer interested in this transaction. As i told you earlier we need legal documentation from UK court on your behalf as th beneficiary to the said fund. I had a meeting with the finance house on your behalf yesterday. I also settled their administrative fee. I need your adharent attention to this business if you are indeed ready to receive your fund as the bona fide beneficiary .

I have enquired from her majesty court service through a UK based lawyer Christopher Glunn about the whole documentation procedure.

If you are ready to receive your money. Please get bact to me immediately with your full information, and also make an official application to zenith bank where your fund is presently deposited. AS it stands we have less than 3 weeks to comply with the directives of the bank so that they can release the money to you as the beneficiary.

I need an urgent answer from you. Here is my present cell no. +44 704 578 0754

Best regards.
John.

So I sent this in return:

You know, John, Kendra is no longer among us. She left us a tidy sum of 419 million dollars for an inheritance so I no longer need your money. What I'm going to do for you, my friend, is forward your offer on to Yahoo. They might need the money for their legal defense against hostile takeovers. I believe the email address I'm supposed to use for situations like this is abuse@yahoo.com. You don't mind if I forward on your email, do you?

Nice to hear from you again. Have a great day.

Bubba

.

I love this part:
Out of the 140 million people in Nigeria, Olu Agbi said that fewer than 0.1 percent were involved in Nigerian scams.

So that means "only" 140,000 people in Nigeria are involved in scams! What a paradise that place must be!

There must be a trap somewhere:
-Do you think the links in this page could be physhing sites?
-Maybe there are some programs on the sites wich prevent from using the method (so that you pay farely 60$ and loose it).

Your thoughts?

Though I must admit I've been tempted to try, I don't see myself filling the payment form of an online casino.
They say we can donnate when we win...
...but they don't even provide a link to do so. stange isn't it:confused::rolleyes:
I'll follow my instinct: keep on with my everyday life. If I get rich one day, I doubt it will be thanks to a simple net trick.

I'll check in a few days the links provided: if it's phishing they should not last more than a few days before beeing out of order.

This is a classic ruse of gambling. Gamble a buck, if you lose gamble 2, if you lose gamble 4, eventually you'll win. It doesn't work, the casino has more money than you.

If you really want to make moeny gambling on t'internet:
www.blackholebonus.com - a couple of years ago I spent some serious time gambling and made a nice little wedge for little risk.

STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

FROM CATHRYN HYGGINUS LILIUS.

Hello Dearest one,

Thank you very much, i am happy to request for your assistance and also to go into business partnership with you, i believe that you will not betaryed my trust which i am going to lay on you.

I am MISS CATHRYN HYGGINUS LILIUS,21years old and the only daughter of my late parents HYGGINUS LILIUS. My father was a highly reputable busnness magnet-(a cocoa merchant)who operated in the capital of Ivory coast during his days. It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his business trips abroad year 12th.November 2007.Though his sudden death was linked or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an uncle of his who travelled with him at that time.

But God knows the truth! My mother died when I was just 4 years old, and since then my father took me so special. Before his death on November 12th 2007 he called the secretary who accompanied him to the hospital and told him that he has the sum of Nine Million four hundred thousand United State Dollars.(USD$9.4 000 000) left in a security company in a mettalic trunk box, but the security company didn't know the content because it was registered as family valuables personal for security reasons.

I am just 21 years old and a university undergraduate and really don't know what to do. This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life. Sir,I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards.Your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded. Now permit me to ask these few questions:-

1. Can I completely trust you?
2. What percentage of the total amount in question will be good for you?

Consider this and get back to me as soon as possible.
Thank you so much.

your sincere regards,
FROM CATHRYN HYGGINUS LILIUS.
