Catboy, you should rename the "Mest - The innocent", it's actually Mest, Good Charlotte, and Goldfinger working together (and a tribute to 9/11, so everyone should give it a listen, at least once).
Lessee... In no particular order:
1) The Planet Smashers

5) The Ataris
6) Barenaked Ladies

In this general order I would say:
1. Radiohead
2. Muse
3. Coldplay
4. Eskimo Joe
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers
6. U2
7. Green Day
Mmm... actually that's about when it ends for band that I like alot of stuff from, then I like bits and pieces here and there... 722 bits and pieces that is. Oh, and alot more ready to download that I've been too lazy to get.
But I'm a huge radiohead fan, and believe that Hail To The Theif wasn't really weird enough, although 2+2=5 is my fav song. The bends was quite good, but OK COmputer would have to be my favourite album.
I also modded my iPod to be like... a Radiohead iPod. It's now called... iPodioteque (I'm sure if you like Radiohead you can figure that out). It's now got the Kid A Bear as the Do not disconnect logo, and I changed the text to Don't pull me plug. I also changed the font, changed the battery charging symbolds and added a hack that instead of showing a battery bar, it shows the amount of power you have left before a recharge as a numerical value.
I win.

I really don't want to get into the whole punks not dead/emo sucks/corporate rock debate. i just didn't like them and thought they were hipocrites and were fueling supid kids to go to hot topic and buy anarchy wrist bands and crap.

Dude, good charolette sucks. Along with simple plan (which is also on your music list ). Listen to rancid, then listen to GC, you will know right away that GC sucks. They think they are all bad ass. Im sure rancid and those other "true grit" punk bands are ashamed that GC is sporting patches with their name on it. GC even did that stupid "I want candy" song in Not Another Teen Movie, you dont see real punk rock bands doing that. They have good marketing plans though. They make sappy pop rock songs so the girls will buy the cd's, then they get mohawks and what not so all the guys think that they are hardcore. My little brother listens to GC and he's 10 who still likes teddy bears. You even see the preps wearing thier abercrombie and then you notice that they have a GC wristband on (which suits the punk image) upside down. I think GC and simple plan did a tour together (total lameness). But other wise you have very good bands on your list.

I could'nt agree with you more. If MTV plays anything rock, then that band gets a bad name for itself right off the bat. MTV only plays rap, r&b, and britany spears it seems like, so I stopped watching MTV. If your gunna watch anything music related on t.v., then watch FUSE (its on satelite, or high channel cabel).

Lots of punk and ska but nobody has mentioned The Dead Milkmen or Daglo abortions.NOFX has to be one of my favorite bands from my younger days and i still enjoy listening to them on occasion. My favorite band in recent years though is Pink Floyd. I have found a great enjoyment in listening to their works of musical art. Maybe cause I'm a little older and a little more mature(although thats debatable). I do have to wonder what I was thinking as a kid when I listen to some of that music now. I just can't understand what I saw in GWAR.

I like GC (I don't think they're the greatest), but they play good stuff. I like Blink 182, tho they've changed since they started... was their last album anywhere close to be punk? I'd say not (still like it), it's definately not as punk as Cheshire Cat...
I consider myself a ska/punk person... I don't look like one tho. That's 'cause I hate clothes. I wear pants or shorts, usually of the cargo kind, and a t-shirt (usually with either something sarcastic, witty, computer, or Planet Smashers related) and a sweatshirt over that if it's cold. I have 0 wristbands, 0 tatoos, 0 piercings, and my natural hair color. I do wear steel toe shoes, but they don't look like steel toe.
Short of it? Listen to what you want, as long as you like it. It's all good (except for rap, and country... can't stand those)

You don't have to wear plaids and leathers to be a "ska/punk" person. I know some super harcore kids that go to every show and shop at department stores. Its all about attitude. And you don't have to listen to super gnar shit either.

The casualties are not hardcore, they are street punk, and one of the worst street punk bands ever. They are the same as good charlotte who market an image to kids, and you can get their stuff at hot topic as well...sorry to say.
Alkaline trio is not hardcore, but a lot of hardcore kids like them as guilty pleasure(including myself). They are poppy but their lyrics are dark.

In order pretty much:
Coldplay - have been number 1 for about 6 months since i first heard "don't panic" on a TV add i downloaded all their songs, favourite song EVER is amsterdam, other favourites are the scientist, don't panic, a rush of blood to the head, yellow, spies, shiver, trouble, sparks etc etc i like all 60 somethingof there songs i have. They have a new album coming out in march - awesome
Muse - awesome band, although it seems that Matt pretty much does everything - vocals, guitar and piano. Love them so much, but i dont htink i could rate them above coldplay. Favourite songs unintended, new born, butterflies and hurricanes, time is runnig out, muscle museum, micro cuts, plug in baby, endlessly,
Pink Floyd - old but good. Gotta love another brick in the wall part 2 and happiest days. The whole of Dark side of the moon rocks in fact, as well as the whole the wall album and the wall movie is cool i bought it for my brother for christmas. Comfortably numb, learning to fly, high hopes, time, wish you were here are some of my favourites.
Radiohead - Pretty dam good when they're not busy making random songs such as like spinning plates - a song played backwards and sped up. Idioteque is cool, so is no surprises, black star, fake plastic trees, paranoid android, karma police.
Eskimo Joe - Awesome band from my home town perth, australia. Not too well known outside australia. From the sea is my favourite, older than you, planet earth, smoke, liar, life is better with you and don't fly are my favs.
U2 - Awesome band that have been around since the 80s. still going at it good, i believe theyre going to tour again soon. Favourite song is with or without you. One, new years day, beautiful day, electrical storm, elevation, in a little while and vertigo are cool.
Red hot chilli peppers - used to be my favourite band a while back but they havent released anything for a while, im getting kinda sick of them. Californication is still an awesome song tho, like can't stop, dosed, around the world, otherside, by the way, scar tissue, parralell universe and fortune faded.
The beatles - most people reckon they are the greatest band that ever existed and ever will exist. They are pretty good u know, gotta love some of those classics like hey jude, live and let die, let it be, come together and i am the walrus.
Metallica - Im just getting in to metallica. These guys are the best metal band ever. One is one of the best songs ever, unforgive 1 and 2 r good, fade to black, enter sandman and master of puppets are cool.
Guns n roses - cool rock band. Axle roses voice is pretty unique and slash plays awesome guitar. Don't cry is one of my favourite songs every actually, so i november rain and civil war.
Well thats my top 10 at the moment. I have over 1000 songs just thought id let u no.

Note: Live and Let Die is by Paul McCartney and Wings. I just finished reading the book, which has nothing to do with the song, and not a whole lot to do with the movie.
Sidenote: The book, which was written in 1954, contains the basic plotline from the movie, but also a scene where Felix Leiter gets mauled by a shark (which was used in License to Kill) and another scene where Bond and "the girl" are dragged behind a boat over coral (which was used in Octopussy, I think). I'm working my way through all the Bond books.
Anyway, my list. I'm not big on favorites, but there are several artists that really stand out for me. Other than the Beatles, here they are in no order:
1. Beatles
ELO
INXS
Michael Jackson (yes, that kook used to be talented)
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Prince
Police
U2
Talking Heads

As difficult as it is to separate out what one is listening to NOW from what is TOP TEN, here goes:
The Beatles
The Who
Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Bob Dylan
The Gang of Four (chosen over The Clash)
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
Neil Young
Janis Joplin
Natalie Merchant (solo and 10,000 Maniacs incarnations)
The Grateful Dead
Not likely on anyone's top 10 list, but amazing music nonetheless, I strongly recommend checking out The Comedian Harmonists (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000IXS6/qid=1107287410/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/103-6747982-9747002). Dude its cool if you dont like slipknot and slayer but even mentioning Coheed and Cambria disgusts me.........

Anyone listen to 'Kashmir' from Led Zeplin's Physical Graffity track6 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002JSN/qid=1107394228/sr=8-4/ref=pd_bbs_4/102-2772029-2082527?v=glance&s=music&n=507846) lately. (Doesn't count if it wasn't LOUD.)

The Grateful Dead I'm not really prepared to replace any band on this list, but I think not including Simon & Garfunkel was a major oversight.

I'm getting down to specifics. Bands evolve, and you may enjoy a favorite period over another, so....
Hey DK: What's your favorite DK album? I saw them live at the Beacon Theater NYC around 1983. Slammin'!!
Rafael: What period of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention do you prefer?
I'd like to call your attention to those maybe 4 albums he did with Florescent Leech and Eddie (formerly of the Turtles--"So Happy Together"). Consider it. Live at the Fillmore.

I didn't like f-minus when I saw them, and I dont like what I have heard on cd. I have their first album, and I cant get into it at all. Nerve agents on the other hand are fucking amazing. If you like them check out Eric Ozennes band before the nerve agents: Redemption 87, if you are downloading an album get All Guns Poolside. It isnt as good as nerve agents, but its still an awesome record.
