On the 12th of March, 2003, I became the proud owner http://www.addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/cool/33.gif of one Wilder Lightrider 6160c Unicycle. For many years I have wanted to get a Unicycle that will not fold or snap beneath me, and finally I think I have one that meets those requirements. This is not brand spanking news, but up until now I lacked photos of my gleaming acquisition. I am yet to write a product review because when I do I want it to be a review rather than a preview. So far I am a satisfied customer. The cycle attracts many positive comments from onlookers who marvel at the size of the 24x3" tire."Whoa...fat!"
"Trippy!"
"Is that an ATV?"http://www.addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/flagge/smilie_nz_flag.gif Had I known that a Unicycle.com site would spring forth so soon in New Zealand I might have waited a while. Having a great Unicycle does not make me a great rider, I still have plenty of room for improvement. Behold, the full splendour of the Wilder Unicycle which I still find hard to believe is mine:

Has anyone ever had a life-threatening accident on a Unicycle while NOT wearing a helmet? And of those, how many were doing high risk manouvres which could be expected to end in injury anyway? ... A helmet is way down on my list of Unicycling things to buy, not at all a high priority.

I'd like to know what you classify as a low risk manoeuvre which would involve a unicycle folding/snapping beneath you...

Adrian, stirring up trouble.

That's a great looking unicycle, Rowan. How does it ride? What kind of terrain have you taken it on since March?

That is an absolutely beautiful machine. I like the all black look. And nothing can beat a 3 inch tire. It makes the uni look so... extreme.
Gotta stop before I get drool on the keyboard. My MUni will be coming in a week or so. Must... wait... longer!

My Wilder Unicycle rides like a dream. I have a lot of fun on it. The KH Seat and 3" wide tire make it a luxury to ride. Dropping 3' on it feels like riding off a curb. I have taken it on quite a few offroad tracks. In New Plymouth there are a lot of walkways running alongside rivers. My favourite is Huatoki because it has plenty of challenging hills ideal for the long 170mm cranks. I made it up to about 10 meters from the top of a really long, steep offroad hill (sweating and puffing) before I slipped off. I was surprised at how well I did considering I walk up some hills that aren't as steep. I still have room for improvement to conquer the hill if I pick a line less slippery. The past few days I have been going for rides with some people from down the road, and they have been shooting video and still shots with their fancy digital equipment. A few of the images came out blurred so some fiddling with the settings needs to be done on the 4 megapixel still camera. Busta (from GUStv (http://www.GUStv.com/)) seems to be getting anxious about the arrival of his KH 24" Unicycle which is due sometime in the future, as he has been riding my Unicycle and loves it. I look forwards to riding the Wilder up Mt Taranaki which is a half hour drive from here. I might find myself walking it quite a bit since theres heaps of big staircases and ladders, but I am sure I can find some interesting ridable sections there. Here is a shot of me riding, taken a few meters up from the first shot I posted:
