my KH trials dilemma...

I am pleased with my non-splined Kh trials uni, but someday I will need something splined. I know I could totally destroy this non-splined one right now if wasn't careful about rolling out of drops, etc.

So, would I be further ahead to go and buy the whole KH splined uni ($700 CAD from cambicycles.com), or just buy the wheelset ($242 USD from unicycle.com) and put it in the one I have now? I'm looking for bang per buck.

They seem to be about the cheapest splined unicycle/wheelset out there and I've heard that they are just as indestructible as anything else. I don't have the money to do anything right now, but when I do, I need a game plan...

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! :)

Unisteve, I see that you live in Canada.

A couple months ago I bought a KH20 non splined. Knowing that I would bend the cranks on the first 4 foot drop, I put the splined cranks on. However, I did *not* order them from Unicycle.com. In early May, the splined crankset became available through Norco. I paid about $220 CDN with tax. You should talk to your Norco dealer; they should be able to order them.

I have never ridden a trials unicycle, so I am not an expert for advice, but have you considered the Summit 20-inch Trials (http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=630) unicycle? Currently it is about US $150 cheaper than the KH 20-inch Trials, and the only drawbacks are that it weighs almost a pound more in the frame, and the crown is flat rather than sloped forward. It is only a few more dollars than the wheelset you mentioned, and you will get a spare KH seat, and a spare frame (albeit heavy) just in case you ever need them as a bonus. If I had some spare money and lived closer to America I would definitely consider buying one, because once the 400 are all sold it might be a while before a deal like the Summit comes along again. It sounds to me like the Summit has the most bang per buck.
