If you want the image to show inline, then make sure you have it point to the actual image instead of the webpage. Like this:

Gilby,

I thought I was using the actual image, not the web page.

What exactly should I cut and paste into the image slot?

You gave me the result, but not the steps to get there.

Can you put directions in the f.a.q. section?

Anyone else can answer this too.

Thanks!

The link to the image that you want to display has to end in .jpg

I'm going to assume that you're using Internet Explorer.

Go to the gallery and right-click on the picture that you want to display and select Properties from the pop-up menu. This will display a dialog that will give you information about that image. In particular we're interested in the URL address for that picture. In the properties dialog you can select and copy the URL address for the picture. Select the text of the URL address in the dialog and use Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard.

Now that you have the URL address in the clipboard you can paste it into the IMG tag in a forum message.

For example: the link to the bathing suit picture is
http://www.unicyclist.com/gallery/albums/Teachndads-Custom-Muni/aaz.sized.jpg
That is the URL that you would put in the IMG tags in a forum message.

Some notes:

Make sure you're not linking to a full screen version of the picture. Try to link to a picture that is sized to something reasonable to display on a screen without scrolling.

Make sure you get the entire link and that the link ends with an image extension like .jpg

If you are linking to an image on another site (like Yahoo, etc.) be aware that some of them don't allow offsite linking like that. If you try to link and display an image from their site you'll either end up with no image or a little GIF with a message similar to "this image cannot be displayed" or "linking not allowed" etc. Some sites don't like people steeling their bandwidth to display images (and rightfully so) on web pages on other sites.

Yes, I agree that the URL address in the Properties dialog does not look like you can select and copy it. That's a bad UI design. It would be better if there was some sort of indication that it was a read-only text field that you can select and copy.
