The Segway Human Transporter has been banned from the sidewalks of supposedly tech-friendly San Francisco. Other Californian cities may follow suit, according to New Scientist (1 Feb 2003, page 7). This may be bad news for CA-based John Foss who has repeatedly expressed an interest in the device.

In the same column: according to an MIT survey, the top 5 inventions that most of us cannot do without are:
1. the toothbrush
2. the car
3. PCs
4. cellphones
5. microwaves.

I missed unicycles!
