Peace, my friend... I'm only kidding around.
You don't expect people to *not* read a thread entitled "Do Not Read", do you? :)

No. You took the cheese. SNAP!
But it wasn't for you. It was the natural progression of this thread (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23129)
Of course, one has to wonder, why are you here?!
A registered user actually posted spam in the spam forum, so I guess reading the Test forum is "normal" behavior. :)

P.S. This should be in Just Conversation. :)

Yup, it works.
Therefore, this thread belongs in the Redundant.References.To. AvatarCaptions. forum.
This is an interesting forum. (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=17)

You need to enter an address that ends in jpg or gif. Find the picture you want and right click on it. Select Properties to see the web address for the picture. Select the web address in the dialog and copy it to the clipboard. That is the address that you put in the IMG tag.
Some sites don't allow you to link to pictures on their site. This is fair because you're basically asking them to host a picture for you for free and use their bandwidth. If you can't get a gif or jpg to display in the IMG tag that could be the reason.
If you're linking to a picture in the gallery make sure you're not linking to one of the thumb or sized pictures. I believe that the thumbnails and shrunken "sized" pictures are generated dynamically and cease to exist after you leave the gallery page so there is nothing there to link to after you leave the gallery. Link to a full size picture from the gallery and you should be OK.
Here's a random picture from your gallery.
The link is http://www.unicyclist.com/gallery/albums/-random-orderz/aaz.jpg
http://www.unicyclist.com/gallery/albums/-random-orderz/aaz.jpg
I hope it works.

I don't think they are dynamic. The sized ones are created to make them the normal size if the regular image is too big, but are not created for all of the images.

You tried to link to www.unicyclist.com/gallery/-random-orderz/aaf
That takes you to an HTML web page as you can see by it having all the navigation links and the green background. If you right click on teh image you should be able to select something like "copy image location to clipboard" and that'll get the image URL. At the page you entered, you'll get the image location of http://www.unicyclist.com/gallery/albums/-random-orderz/aaf.jpg
When you go to that URl, you will see that it'll just display the image with no navigation links and it has the default background color.

Hmm... as with most conveniences in web browsing, you'll need a real web browser to do that. So IE is out. There is no option to get the image URL from IE that I can see. You can save the image to disk, copy the entire image to clipboard, but can't get the URL? That sucks.

Still sucks, but it looks like you can right click on teh image, select the properties option and the image URL can be selected and copied from there.

I had tried linking to a thumb a while ago and it didn't work. I'll give it a try here to see if that was just a fluke.
A thumb picture

It looks like linking to the thumb images and sized images works.

Gilby is being a browser elitist. It's not a real web browser unless it's running on Linux and is open source. :)

I use Mozilla on Windows XP. :)
IE is the most commonly used web browser since it's what comes on Windows, but if that's what you use, you really need to stay current and download the almost weekly security patches to prevent viruses. You also need to know how to use Alt-F4 to close those pop-ups that take over your screen... I hear too often that people reboot their computer to get rid of those.

i hit alt F4 and this page disapeared:eek: :) i never knew that,it works so cleanly.
i thought ctrl. alt. del. then select the pop up and end it was the only way to get rid of those, but your tip is so sweet.
i also gleened the ctrl-A trick from one of your webdiscuss posts.thanx!

In Internet Explorer CTRL + W will close the current window. Very similar to ALT + F4 but an easier key combination to hit. CTRL +W is a nice combo to close popups and other spawned IE windows.
ALT + F4 will close almost any application, just like selecting File >> Exit from the menu. The CTRL + W combo works in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer only.

Just as I was finishing up a long post, I copied and pasted something into the post. "Okay, this masterpiece is almost finished... Just gotta paste this in. CTRL-W. Poof! Gone! What the? What? I can't b... How cou? What?" Sadly, Mr. Dvorak in his near-infinite wisdom, could never have known that some day, long after he was dead, that a man named Bill would assign a benevolent function to CTRL-V and assign the Destroy Universe function to CTRL-W. So, Mr. Dvorak put those two keys next to each other in the Dvorak keyboard layout.
By the way, this may be my most popular thread ever.
