My favorite bands are Queen, Blue Oyster Cult and Styx because those three bands got me through the disco years. I am forever grateful to those bands for making it possible for me to survive the disco years. The first rock album that I ever owned was Queen's News Of The World and I still have that album (this is a real album, they didn't have CD's back then).
"The Passenger" by the Lunachicks (a cover of an Iggy Pop song) makes me want to ride. That song is on the New World Disorder video. Another song that currently makes me want to ride is "Fairies Wear Boots" by Ozzy. I don't know why, but it just makes me want to go ride. And no, I don't wear boots when I ride.

I don't think I have one favourite band. However, looking at my CD collection I think one of Feeder, U2, Goo Goo Dolls or Third Eye Blind would take the spot.
As for pre-riding songs... something exciting, like The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So. Great song!

Band: Seraphim Shock, a goth/metal band from Denver that is getting pretty well know, in the right circles, that is. ;)
Also, Type-O-Negative. Not sure any of these guys have a uni inspiring song however.
song: 3 of them come to mind while I'm riding. That song from One Tired Guy at the end whild Kris is riding North Shore, A fast beach guitar surfer song that I don't know the name of but we've all heard it, and another one that I don't care to name... no, not that one. One day I'll make a Muni video of myself and will use it.

Pre-riding song: none, to me music and unicycling aren't related.

Band: thats always a tuff question i'll just say , The Who, and cat stevens.
rather than going into my tastes in music and explaning all the different music i listen to.
Song:i t depend what kinda mood i am in before i ride, a couple songs that always work are
"teenage watse land" by the who and "box of rain" by the grateful dead
(dont know why but the song always puts me in a mood to ride).

I never thought about a connection (music and unicycling).
Certainly not Type O Negative. I don't have the skill to ride that slowly (but I'm going to try it).
My ready-made list of all-time favorite groups --
1) Rush
2) Tangerine Dream
3) Jethro Tull
4) Boston
5) Johnny Clegg (and Juluka/Savuka)
6) Ladysmith Black Mambazo
(not sure why, but the United States is barely represented in that list...)
A few songs that have a VERY, VERY strong association with riding (via the Pavlovian effect?) are 'Calling From the Lord' and all the music from the awesome, spectacular www.muniac.tk video.

I'm LOLing, but I think I'm just in one of my silly moods. I'm sure there will be others who will not find your sarcasm funny.
I just came in from the cement patio outside the house -- after pouring hot water all over it, sweeping the water off, and drying the cement with towels. All in an attempt to make a dry, snow-free, ice-free zone to practice on (the temp is up to 35F today). I have 12 feet of running room to practice riding my new 29". Luckily, I need practice with mounts.
So yes, I'm feeling a bit silly right now. And, to stay on-topic, I have no favoutite band. I never really thorought about it befoil.

Oh, I think Song 2 by Blur makes me want to go unicycling. Yeah.
At the moment, I would have to say The Aquabats, Wierd Al, They Might Be Giants, and Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band. If you like Devil Went Down to Georgia, ya gotta hear Ryan Shupe play it. They are amazing.
Generally, what gets me wanting to ride is watching unicycling videos that people have posted. Whatever music is playing in them gets linked to riding for me.

hmmm, quite a poser there.
At the moment any music makes me want to ride as my lovely unibike is out of action at the mo. However I think amore interesting question would be: What songs do you find yourself humming/singing whilst riding? For me Arlo Guthrie: The motorcycle song (with the word motorcycle imaginatively changed to unicycle. IIIIIII don't want to diiiieeeee, I just wanna ride my uuuuuuuuuniicyyyyyyy........cle. It don't get much better than that.)
Whrn it comes to favourite bands...oooooh, where to start. Four Tet, if any of you haven't heard their stuff, I reccomend you do. Mr Bungle. Momus. Mr Scruff. Pink Floyd. Os Mutantes. Out Hud. Nick Drake. Harry Manx. The james taylor quartet. Air.Pixies. The Breeders. I'll stop here or else I never shall.
a) The Who
b) not music, but unicycle videos!

Iron Maiden, Dire Straits, Warren Zevon, They Might Be Giants, The Misfits. I do believe that those are my top 5. Oh and the Beatles of course.
As for music that makes me want to ride, I dont think that any music does. What makes me want to ride is thinking about doing all sorts of cool tricks that I cant do, and if I make up a cool trick in my mind I cant wait to get out there and attempt it.

Well lets see.
The most visible one is probably Faith No More. Mike Patton sang with them about 10 years, and Trey Spruance was their guitarist on "King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime". FNM has an interesting sound, though not Bunglesque by any means. It's hard to put a name on it since they change so much from album to album (which I guess IS a bunglesque quality). I recommend the above mentioned "KfaD,FfaL", "Angel Dust", and if you can find it, an EP titled either "Easy" or "Songs to Make Love to".
Patton is currently in:
Fantomas, a superband of sorts that includes Buzz Osborne from the Melvins, Dave Lombardo from Slayer, and Trevor Dunn from Mr. Bungle. I recommend "Director's Cut", pretty much just death metal renditions of popular movie soundtracks.
Tomahawk, also includes a member from the Melvins, Kevin Rutmanis. Simple hard rock, maybe borderline death metal. They toured with Tool last year.
Patton also released a solo album "Adult Themes for Voice" that is nothing more than him making funny noises in a microphone... no instruments, just funny noises.
Probably my favorite "Bungle band" though is Secret Chiefs 3, pretty much the brain-child of musical genius Trey Spruance, though it also includes Trevor Dunn, Danny Heifetz, and sometimes Bar Mckinnon, pretty much everyone but Mike Patton. Totally it's own genre! You know how the Beatle's later music was heavily influenced by their stay in India? Well, imagine the Beach Boy's going to Saudi Arabia. Also a lot of John Zorn-esque noise. Very similar to Bungle's own album Disco Volante, but without lyrics. I recommend "First Grand Constitution and Bylaws" and "Eyes of Flesh, Eyes of Flame". I think you can only get them here (http://www.webofmimicry.com/artist_sc3.html).
Side Note: Estradashpere, experimental jazz group that appears on both UNiVERsE and UNiVERsE 2, are signed on Trey's own record label, Mimicry Records.
Well, those are the "big" ones, there's LOTS of others that I've never heard, like Faxed Head, Peeping-Tom, and lots of guest appearances (I think Patton's even on a Sepultura album).
But anyhoo, there you go.

The Cramps, for sure.
I saw The Cramps at CBGB's in 1977. I'm pretty sure they warmed up (if that's the right word) for The Ramones. Needless to say they spat on the audience.
They were energetic, but kind of sucked.
I have to say that with talent like Patti Smith or the Gang of Four around, I never really appreciated such sub par playing even with all the energy and subversion.
My own current favorite band is the Metropolitan Opera.

Did you see them? They're are great! I know only few people that like The Cramps. I love it because it's always funny and make me wanna dance and the way they sing end everything, just love it!
The never came to Brazil... don't know why...
But anyway, I love not just their music but the story behind it! I mean, the Lux and Poison biographies hehe!

What to you think of their latest singer?
I used to be really into them, still a little into them when im in the mood but I hear a lot of bands do the rock opera stuff so it started to get old. The new singer, from what I have listened to, seems too poppy so its kind of weird, but still good.
I dont think I have a favorite band right now. Ive been listening to a lot of Blotted Science again, and Soul Circus from Victor Wooten but dont feel like replaying the cds every day. Ive been pretty busy with writting new songs.
