Dear Gilby,

I don't know if you are aware, but it has been, "brought to my attention" that these forums are getting too mean and too offensive. Posts are often filled with comments from people that mock others simply because they spelled a word wrong. All I want is a nice place like this to talk about unicycling.

I don't want to discourage anyone from using these forums, and I believe you're doing an excellent job as administrator, but I would suggest a stricter policy on post content. While I can't tell people that maybe their swearing is offensive to some, I would suggest that either a more strict screening policy or censoring of posts should take place.

I know that what is offensive to one is the funniest thing someone else has ever heard and they would go tell all their friends. However, I believe that maybe some additional rules could be added to stop this.

For example, I read a post today that had a random reply in the middle by "Maatha Stoooert" (--??) or somesuch person who had no intention in the post to do any else than to mock and discourage. This, I feel, is opposite of what this place is for.

I will not name any other names and I cannot say specifically what could be done or what I beleive should happen, but I do think that there shoud be a refocusing on the simple fun of unicycling.

It is not all bad, and there are many who I would consider friends, but there is, in general too much bad feeling toward others.

Thank you for the great site and the great service you provide, Gilby, and Thank you for maintaining a good place to talk about unicycling with other unicyclists around the world.

Get with the program, JonnyD.

You guys have to make up your minds...

On the one hand, people all love the big, tough, MUni Militia logo (it goes so well with the New World Order!), but on the other hand, they whine like 2nd-graders if someone corrects their unintelligible typing.

On the other, other hand, JonnyD, your typing and spelling skills seem quite respectable, so I'm a bit puzzled by your defense of those who post careless drivel.

Just bouncing a unicycle up and down and up and down isn't what this is all about.

Just bouncing a unicycle up and down and up and down may be what you do for fun, and that's cool, but posting here should involve clearly understandable communication.

Throwing around vague accusations (like in your own post and in the one just below,) gets us nowhere towards improving the content of this forum.

Don't know how long you've been lurking, but since you just registered today, it would be more seemly of you to post more unicycle-related stuff yourself before you start casting criticisms of established posters down here in "Requests".

trialzSpanker, let me be the first to point out to you the difference between the name, "John", and the other name, " Jon".
As in "John"; who registered in June of 2002, continues to post as "centromachetes", and was born in 1970... compared to "Jon"; who just registered today, goes by the username of "JonnyD", and was born in 1987.

If you look a little closer at the date of registration it say he registered December 29th, 2001. I dunno, I might be in the wrong year here, but I think that was last year. :p

BUSTED!

Durned careless of me, that was!

Good eye, Mike!

Still, I do believe that "John" and "Jon" are two different people....

note to self: BE MORE OBSERVANT !

Well I know that if this had been posted in rec.sport.unicycling, then there would be no end to rampant emotions and bitter posts, off topic-ness up the wall and such, but I was kind of in a what-say "tizzy" right then as i wrote it. If I was all about hopping up and down all day, I probably wouldn't post at all, but hopefully I can get more with the program even still. However, I didn't even post on that thread trialzspanker, so I'm not quite sure what you mean. I *only* go by JonnyD, as I have for the last year. No I do not *like* the muni militia logo, nor do i vehemently dislike it. I am opposed to war for stupid reasons, but I do like in guns (for SPORT/TARGET SHOOTING). I would rather just stay more to unicycling, since I owe much of what I call my success to this site.

-Wanting to stay away from any major diputes,

JonnyD

ps Thanks for pointing out the 2001 mike.
