No pies, spray paint or naked protesters. Just signs and verbal abuse.

PETA actually stands for People for the Eating of Tastey Animals. Every time I hear of a PETA protest I have a hamburger in their honor.

There was another PETA protest in the news recently. Two activists stripped naked in China (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/2353963.stm). Normally I don't pay much attention to this, but I suddenly realised that one of the protesters used to be one of my neighbours many years ago when we were both kids. She has very definitely grown up since then;)
Have fun!

Speaking for myself, no, most definitely not. However, in these days of "compassion fatigue" (or whatever the trendy phrase is) I think it is quite common for people to more or less ignore such single issue protest groups. Given the total f*cked up mess the world seems to be getting itself in at the moment I can understand that sympathy for some causes, no matter how worthy, just becomes more difficult to raise. Perhaps that's why such groups attempt more "newsworthy" activities and such activities may have a negative effect on some people who were wavering or unaware of the issues.
Given the original example, what if the protest had remained unedited and had been broadcast? Someone sitting at home and seeing it may well have thought "What the hell are those cranks doing interrupting my programme?" and decided that they and their views were annoying but otherwise irrelevant to their life. If somehow they had presented a reasoned argument against the fur trade then they may be more likely to gain approval, but a) you can't do that in that kind of protest, b) if they did so in, say, a 5 minute film would people watch it or just turn over?
In these days of rapidly decreasing attention spans (fuelled by the media) any protest group is fighting a harder battle just to get noticed, let alone be effective.

I'm all in favor of pretty women in nice fur coats.
Mink fur and similar is fine with me. I don't agree with clubbing little white seals for their fur, but mink is OK.

I dont mid fur either. I was just watching it again(I taped it:D ) and I noticed they use alot of fur products. I am vegan and I dont mind(mainly because of Heidi Klum) Sure I feel sorry for the animals but my elbow is too tire to gripe from watching that(:D ).
Just kidding
