This seems to be a pretty wholesome discussion board. I wonder, if it'k ok to discuss drugs and unis, and the exerience of the two combined. I'm sure alot of folks here have some pretty entertaining stories...but are they taboo?

Thoughts?

Don't ever call us "wholesome" again... if you want to keep your teeth, that is.

And what are you alking about, anyhow?

Haven't you noticed all the threads about the new addictive menace from England that so many Unicyclists on this forum are enthralled with? Appalling! I mean, over "there", they're hooking babies on it before they're even weaned! If there's one thing the 60's taught us, substance abuse is rarely self-arresting...
Oh, sure, everyone says "Just Marmite... and only recreationally... you know, a little on the weekends with friends... I'm not a serious user..." but mark my words! Marmite only leads to the stronger stuff! Like sugar! Myself, I skipped straight past GO to sugar. Can't get on my Uni now until I've done at least 2 bowls of Frosted Flakes.

But, I've always found drug stories to be pretty boring.
Well, OK... "Helter Skelter" wasn't boring, but as far as I've ever heard, Charles Manson couldn't ride a Uni.
Maybe you're hoping to find the Hunter S. Thompson of Unicycles out there somewhere...

I know when I'm riding with my "green" wheel I always tend to head straight for the nearest Taco Bell.:)

I find my green wheel doesn't ride as straight as my two-green-wheeler, that's for sure. Sure beats riding with a beer buzz though!

Well, not free in the sense that you walk in and they just give it to you, but free this way. How much money do you have on you right now?

think a moment

for real

You have a number in mind. That is how much you have. Now, root around in your couch, no, better yet, just go to the drive through. While you are in line, fish around under your seat while ordering a bean burrito. Surely you are enough of a slob to come up with the 88 cents before it is time to pay. If your car is so clean you can't do this, then you don't need free food anyway. Now while driving away, how much money is left in your wallet??? Aha!

And all this time, I thought you were talking about dumpster-diving.

You must be a pretty well-off slob to be able to find enough change for lunch every time you drive through the drive-through. Or do you let the guy who empties the parking meters borrow your car from time to time?

If it only happened to you one time, it's hardly a basis for an economic formula. Not even enough for a postulate or theorum.

So, Sofa! When are you going to start with the bedtime drug stories?

Sofa

As it turns out, it's more fun to talk about Taco-Bell.

Ah! Just as I suspected! Another spiked-breath poseur! I'll bet you've never even done refined sucrose! Or sniffed an almost empty Right-Guard cannister...

Oh, ... BIG DEAL !!! Toying with Sal Monella and Bot Ulism around a Taco Hell Refuse Container! OOOOH! So, give! We all want to hear the exciting low life tales of a fast food freak in the fast lane...

I was reading a site about sniffing vodka. Obviously it hits your brain a lot faster and you barely need any to get messed up.

shortly after i managed to con myself into buying a uni, i decided that learning to freemount before learning to ride was the kewlest idea in the world
the theory being something like, 'by the time i get up there, i'll be able to figure the rest out on the fly'
so much for theories
eventually i split up my learning sessions and would climb on in the corner of the garage holding onto an old couch on top of an (old) single bed on one side and an (old) bookcase on the other
from this perch i would then launch into the abbyss
after 5-10 minutes of (decliningly gracefull, unplanned) dismounts
i'd go to the middle of the garage and try the freemount untill i got fed-up and go back to my (abbyssmal) attemps at riding
on X-mas day last year i spent seven hours in that garage
during that period i decided that trying to learn on a green wheel had to be less boring
while drinking beer to stay hidrated and beat the heat i eventually landed a freemount, rode out of the garage and couldn't quite figure how to do the inch high drop onto the paved driveway, got confused, worried and panicked

rode the length of the driveway the next day

:)

i still harbour dreams of riding thru a drivethru and picking up lunch
i think i should do it on the girraffe, just to get their attention
:p

Yes, going through a drive through o a girraffe would be awsome. If you had a big enough girraffe, they would only see a metal bar and a chain, that would be very humerous...

The green wheel! I love that! Then I guess I really have done a Wheel-E on the uni!I've never done E, let alone a Wheel-E. I don't like the idea of doing drugs that permanently deplete your dopamine supplies, like E or P. I have done Alice in Wheel-land (LSD unicycling) and magic mushwheeling. I'm not suggesting you try it, but I thought it was pretty good at the time. It's like you are not pedalling, and the wheel moves underneath you like it is an extension of yourself. I went giraffe tripping past heaps of people at New Years 2000, and I hardly noticed people calling out to me from the streets, I just sailed past them in my own high-up world. The Green wheel is good too! Since you have your hands free you can pack and smoke a pipe while riding, if it is not too windy. Kids, check it is OK with an adult before trying this at home.

We've done it. Once last year on the way home from a soccer tourney, we stopped at a Mickey-Ds. (We always take along several unis to the tourneys). The boys decided to ride through the drive thru to get apple pies, Ben on his Trials and Brad on a 5 footer. Business was slow at the time and the whole McCrew had to come out to watch. What fun!

Only in the change received through the drive thru window. Other than that, they had to get back to the mother ship and we had to hit the road.

Back to the topic (one that is very close to my heart [how could i have not seen this thread sooner, I dunno why])

I happen to see nothing wrong with smoking weed but that's pretty much the only drug. In my opinion, marijuana is ok in small doses, a lot like alcohol. Either way, the biggest reason I believe what I believe are based on two things,

1: Facts. It seems that the War on Drugs is doing more harm that good. Proof of this can be found on the website for my favorite pro-weed supporters, LEAP, which stands for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. I strongly suggest you check out their website. (http://www.leap.cc/)

2: the fact that smoking weed is a peaceful activity, and should only be a crime if it imposes the civil rights of other people. Meaning, smoking weed, like drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes, is a personal life choice people make. They are choices that hurt no one except the one who makes that choice.

Either way, I smoke weed and I do it often, especially in college, because I CAN’T HANDLE REALITY!!!!! ;)

In relation to unicycling, I find that my performance is not inhibited by this activity (in the long term aspect) and riding a unicycle while high is quite enjoyable.

I seem to recall that both myself and Sofa learned to ride after a few beers. I have ridden while intoxicated and only once was there any ill effects. For the most part it's harmless if done in moderation and in a relativly safe area (not too much traffic or pedestrians)and dont forget your protection!
At least if your drunk and you fall it doesnt hurt untill the next day
