My dry suit for your unicycle parts?

OK, I just got out of the army, and as such, have a brand new, never worn (except to make sure it fit) White's drysuit.
180lbs
5'11
size 9 feet
Black in colour with reflective bands (email me for some pics)
Comparable to White's models retailing for $800cdn +
comes in White's dufflebag.

I have this sitting around, and wonder if someone has a couple hundred bucks worth of uni stuff they want to get rid of.
I could use hub/cranks, an ultimate wheel, some 2.6 tires, pedals, anything really. Maybe you even have some mountainbike stuff?

i may be interested even though i dont exacty know the differance between a wet or dry suit.

my relatives all love to swim but not me i hate wet water especially COLD wet water,so if this would help me that would be nice.

so whats the diff.??

I was seeing if the dry suit was for scuba. I scuba quite often and wouldnt mind a dry suit to use.
jagur- The difference between a wet suit and a dry suit, is that a dry suit can be used in warm-to fairly cold water. A dry suit is for really cold water and retains heat a lot better that a wet suit.

A dry suit is also usually loose enough to wear clothes underneath for additional warmth. If it seals properly, it lets in no water at all, whereas the wet suit lets in water and keeps it in so your body can warm it up. This gives you a better range of water temp. A dry suit gets too hot in a hurry! (unless it's January)
For about $300.00, you can get a semi-dry that's warm enough for 40 degree water, but doesn't overheat you. I have a Neil Pryde semi-dry and wouldn't trade it for a dry suit.

Wet suit: made of neoprene (like lizard skins) you are submerged in water the whole time, but your body heat heats up the temp of the tiny amount of water between your skin and the suit. (keeping away the cold...temperarely. I've ice-dove in a wet suit, and was warm for about 30 mins.

Dry suit: Made of nylon/blend that keeps you dry. you wear longjohns, or whatever you want underneath. the suit is inflated with your hose as you go deeper to be used as a bouyancy compensator. the air also keeps you warmer.

Jagur: You can swim with a wetsuit, only SCUBA with a dry suit. I have a 7mm wetsuit (all black) used, but tons of life left in her. It has a couple pairs of gloves, a couple pairs of booties. The only real wear and tear is on the knee patches (not the actual suit) these patches are just glued on (with a new piece of neoprene)when needed.

Anyone want a drysuit? (it doesn't smell, some people piss in their suits, but I could never get myself to do it)

I would also be interested in a 10w helmet light, or even a non-MUni 26" (to lock outside at college)

Since you live near the windsurfing capital of the world, I think it's worth mentioning that certain types of dry suits are commonly used by windsurfers in the winter. I don't know what type Sofa has, but it might be usable for more than scuba. And if you haven't tried windsurfing, you should. You obviously have the balance. It takes some time to learn it, but you will have a new appreciation for windy days. You don't have to get very good before it becomes a ton of fun, at which time you will be looking for a suit that will allow year-round participation.

Absolutely! Unlike Neoprene, you can fill the 'Dry' Suit with Jell-O and spend quality time on the couch watching a game without raising the ire of your significant other. I strongly recommend resisting the urge to add chunks of fruit- they can become poorly situated and may be difficult to reposition.

I always suspected that was why they were called "wet"suits... I mean, to call something that you wear underwater "wet" is a bit redundant, right?

By logical extension, I just figured that "dry"suits were fitted with PampersTM or HuggiesTM or AttendsTM.

Hey Sendhair, I'm not sure whether you're kidding or not, but the person wearing the drysuit, while underwater, remains dry. So depending on how long you plan on being down (and in what temp of water) what you wear could be longjohns, a sweat suit, in True Lies, Arnold even wore a tuxedo (although it would've been wrinkly... but dry.

I would agree. The originals from the 30's and 40's were much more extreme, especially the padded shoulders. There was alot of latitude given to accessorizing what with the long watch chains, spats, hats and bands, hankies and flowers.

Napoleon wished he could have anticipated the Zoot suit, but, well for one thing, the brim of his hat kept curling up. I'm not seein' any pleats in those pants, neither... and the lapel breaks too high... For another thing, no self-respecting Zoot suit would be caught dead or exiled with curtain fringe and bits of carpet stuck to it. Don't get me wrong, Jagur... that's one great suit even if Josephine's not around, but, well, you might as well be wearing a dry suit!

I came to your post through an internet search for used drysuits. Our measurements are identical, except for the feet. Are the feet of the suit made of neoprene or a waterproof material?

Just thought i would pipe in here. Where i live the temp averages around 15C to a maximum of 25C most of the time with a cold wind. I windsurf, used to untill i ripped the sail and it went in the shed, in boardshorts and a life jacket. I find that windsurfing, like dinghy sailing doesn't leave you enough time to feel the cold. Unless the wind is light you are pretty much moving constantly. i believe in a dry suit you would just get all hot and bothered :)

If it is really cold i where my Australia II wetsuit with slevless top and shot legs. curtasie(sp?) of when father was part of the Australias Americas Cup Syndicate.
