For the most part, if you want to be cool, you might want to avoid unicycles. But if you want to ride unicycles, you're into a different kind of cool. We are not sheep! (Foss, 2017, p. 93)

If everything's under control, you're going too slow

        I trust in those:

I am subscribed to this thread and received a notification email about the "Pic fail" post, including a link that worked. No idea why the link is not in the post itself (anymore?).

I did it from my phone and couldn't figure out how to resize the images so it was huge! With the short post edit here I decided to remove it while i could and then try to resize and post it again

                  • I didn't have the fattest tires on Saturday

We went to our camp in Vermont this past weekend. I had to stick with the plowed gravel roads. I tried to ride on an unplowed road that is used for snowmobiles but it wasn't happening. I needed studded tires. There was about 2" of soft snow on ice. I should have taken a photo of the sign that says "Do not follow this road if it is snow covered, even if your GPS is telling you to...It'll cost you over $1000 to get towed out....." Its pretty funny.

I do not have the fattest tire in the woods.

Not a recent photo but kind of fits the time of year in the northern hemisphere.

                      • Had this for almost 2 weeks and I finally managed to static mount it yesterday with slightly better success this morning. I feel so tall on this thing I find myself ducking under trees and signs on the footpath.

Not fair! You are a relative newbie and you are already riding and mounting so well.

                          Just like my neighbour kid....

Nice looking road uni. Your first successful free mount is a major step, simply repeat a thousand times to become relatively proficient. At least that is how it worked for me, it is well worth the effort.

                            • I managed rollback mounts on the first day I got it with around a 10% success rate, the 36" really is a challenge to learn. My mounting is improving as is my control but still got a bit to go on it. My friend helped me fit a pannier rack to the rear on the weekend and when I put my lunch box on there I couldn't free mount at all.

So I put a smaller bag on it and reduced the weight and now I think I can mount maybe 15-25% of the time maybe? I still have no idea how Ed Pratt can mount his monstrosity with 20+ KG's on the frame.

Well I still can't idle and ride in reverse and it's almost been a whole year. One thing that helped is just go off road as much as you can, it really helps your control. Just think when you see some different terrain just go for it and challenge yourself.

Clipless mountain unicycling the Upper Bob's Trail at Galbraith Mountain, Bellingham, Washington USA on October 6, 2019. Wow, it's great to still be riding a relic 2008 Kris Holm 24" mountain unicycle with 137mm cranks, Shimano cliplessSPD pedals and Magura brake on a trail I’ve been riding for more than a dozen years.
