      I'm at 238.

It's nice that you get to score skills like one foot riding several times just because you can do it with either foot. You get to score it once for level 5 and twice for level 6. Bonus!

I don't like calculating stuff by hand when I'm sitting in front of the computer so I made a spreadsheet to do the grunt work for me. The spreadsheet is on my Unicyclist.com web space. Direct link to the download is here: nks_unicycle_skills_rating.zip

The zip file contains an OpenOffice spreadsheet file and an Excel spreadsheet file. I created the spreadsheet using OpenOffice and exported the Excel version. I don't have Excel to be able to confirm that the file actually works.

The file does work, thanks John.

Question to saam (the 'owner' of the NKS):

Does one have to get in and out of the skill as per the level rules,
or is just doing the skill in itself sufficient to score?

Also, I understand that the maximum allowed number of failures per
level doesn't apply, right? So if you can 'just' do it, you qualify.

              I'm
(the max) - (that dmn bw pirouette) = still not enough

try this page on unicyclist.org, that I've just modified.

I've tried it in all browsers that I'd have, the javascript seem to work in all of them.
And even without javascript enabled your score will be calculated.

Now I need to write some clear explanation, to make things crystal clear how the method works.

Further -here comes my personal opinion- I thing the difference between "riding 50 m" (1) and "riding bw for 10 m" (4) is way bigger than "walk the wheel one footed with left foot in a circle" (10) and "walk the wheel one footed with left foot in a circle" (10). And so making the sum pretty useless, if you want to use it to compare one rider with another
I think the levels never should be used in a competive way. They were not ment for that, but to stimulate the individual level of riders. And so I opt for the rNKS method: each level 1 skill 10 pts, each level 10 trick 1.

damn1t, I could have spend that time on the seat in stead of behind the keyboard and screen, a well it was fun anyway.

If you're the max minus the backward pirouette, why is there no backward spin or pick up/kick up from seat drag in back on the levels section? I'm sure anyone with enough patience to learn the transition to side ride shouldn't have too much trouble getting something as easy (relatively) as the kick up from seat drag in back!

I agree about not competing on the skill levels, but I do find them to be a great personal motivational tool.

                  a) nobody submitted a movie. But please feel free to do so.
                  b) making such movie requires a
rider [1] willing to spend time [2], a cameraman [3] willing to spend time [4] at the same moment as rider is [5], a location [6], thats available [7] on the same moment as when rider and cameraman want to use it [8]. A.s.o.
Besides that my execution will pass the rules, but not be representive as 'the example'. So I think it was cutted out by a mean editor (yes me) that keeps eye on the quality level.

This was the level I had 5 years ago. Due to injury on my shoulder I could'nt practise like I used to. And so I've not been focusing on the levels at all. But spring just has started, so maybe I fill in those gaps soon.

Lars Lottrup recently notified me another mistake on that list: on level 3 and up you are not allowed to let a L-foot mount and a R-foot mount as seperate mounts. Will fix that as well, though I think it's not needed to give examples on there those headings.

I'm sure anyone with enough patience to learn the transition to side ride shouldn't have too much trouble getting something as easy (relatively) as the kick up from seat drag in back!
On that statement I can only speak for myself, and agree on that. However it are not the only ways to get back into riding position. So I don't realy understand what you're trying to say.

Exactly. It's a very good way to explore the different sort/types of skills, and to stimulate L/R 'compatibility' which is often the key to progress (and many often not only for the skill you're focussing on)!

I know there's other ways to get out of seat drag in back, but the kick up, (with the heel, the foot stays on the pedal) is the only one I can do. I don't really know how hard the others are. From my very minimal side-riding efforts, I'd say that getting into and out of side ride must be far, far, harder. I may submit a movie of the kick up from seat drag if I can make a good one. Unfortunately, my seat is missing its back bumper at the moment, so I haven't done seat drag in back for a couple weeks. The new bumper should be arriving soon.

By the way, I like your site and use it a lot. It's very helpful for figuring out exactly how to do certain things. Thank you for making such a great resource!
