Here are my pictures of the "new" ride, when it was "even newer!" in 2005"

          Comments on the ride:
WHAT A RUSH! It's quite awesome. Note that the train is entirely un-powered once it leaves the LIMs (linear induction motors) in the starting straightaway. All it's doing up and down the tower is coasting. The computer system measures the mass of the train as it's being pushed up to speed, and adjusts the power output to try to get it to just make it over the top. Sometimes it doesn't and it comes back down backwards! This is not desireable if you're waiting in line, though, as it usually means at least several minutes of down time for the ride...

Cedar Point is the best amusement park in the country, rated such for many years by various organizations that rate such things. It's my favorite. However, Top Thrill Dragster is no longer the tallest coaster, as the company that designed it built a slightly bigger one for Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ:
          http://www.sixflags.com/greatAdventu.../Kingdaka.aspx
I haven't heard of a bigger one being built or under construction, but Jacquie and I let our membership to American Coaster Enthusiasts lapse...

Hehe, I rode it about six times while I was there. It is quiet as hell and incredibly fast. We rolled back once on the second ride, they say it's common for that to happen! Scary fun!

its a pretty fun ride. Its kinda overratted though. I wouldn't wait 3 hours to ride for 18 secs. I rode it when it was pretty new and it used to break down a Ton!!!
It was broke down on the day I went but it opened in the afternoon and I got in line pretty fast so I only had to wait 1 hr.

+1 to all that. It's hard to justify wait times of an hour or more, even for the very best rides. Last few parks, Jacquie and I have paid the extra money for whatever "premium" pass system they have. If it's within your budget it's well worth it, especially if the weather is bad (hot, humid or rainy)!

I was watching The discovery channel talking about the scariest roller coasters and this was in it. But apparently there is a much faster rollercoaster then this one.
I am one weird and unusual Greek Cypriot Australian with a pienormous heart.

Can't wait till this game is finally released.

The fastest roller coaster on record (unless something new has just opened recently) is a slightly larger version of the Top Thrill Dragster, called Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. Top speed 128 mph, and I think it's 456' high. Same company built both.

But Cedar Point still gets to boast having the first coaster over 200', the first one over 300' and the first to top 400', as well as many other coaster records.

Honestly, you could pee your pants on any ride; it's got a lot to do with what scares you, plus maybe what you had for lunch. Here's my wife's scariest ride. If you think of it as a roller coaster it's probably the shortest one in the world, with less than 50' of track. But it's the height that counts...

(watch to see how they operate it, which they do a little less of when there's a line). My pictures of the ride. It was her idea to sit in the back. Normally she's not afraid of anything, but on this one her fear rubbed off on me too! Note they have taken down the High Roller roller coaster, the red track up above. It's gone in the YouTube video. That was the world's highest coaster, but also pretty pedestrian, except for the view!
