  • 2020 California MUni Weekend - Yosemite

Hey everyone, we are very excited to bring you the 2020 CA MUni Weekend! There are lots of great trails along with beautiful scenery located in Bass Lake, just an hour away from Yosemite National Park. Save the dates! We will be posting pictures of the trails so that riders can get a better understanding of what to expect. Stay tuned for specific times and more details! Looking forward to riding with you! Cheers!

    DATES:
    Mar 20, 2020 – Mar 22, 2020

Feel free to share and invite your friends.

All Information is Subject to Change, and More Will be Updated Throughout Time. Stay Tuned for More:
All Riders Will be Shuttled to the Top of All Trails Listed Below

    Riding Times: TBD

    Friday:
007 – This trail features small technical rock sections between smooth, fast and flow segments of the trail. This trail includes many nice lines, drops, rolls, berms, and other fun areas to ride. Overall, this is a fun trail and a great warmup to prepare for the next day's ride.

    Saturday:
Mary Jane, McLeod Flat, Willow Creek:

Mary Jane – More information soon.

McLeod Flat (Jeep Trail) is an extremely technical trail with a wide variety of rocks all the way down. This is a challenging and enjoyable trail to ride with endless lines, drops, rolls, and more. Mary Jane leads to the bottom of this trail, which will require some hiking in order to reach the top. Sectioning will happen as riders make the ascent towards Willow Creek.

Willow Creek – This trail is by far the most beautiful and scenic trail of the day. Willow Creek is a well-balanced ride, loaded with technical rock and root sections, smooth track, drops, and lines, which can be sectioned as long as riders would like. This shaded trail is surrounded by oaks and pines, dogwood and alder trees that border Willow Creek. Closer towards the end of a ride is a very technical rock garden up on the ridge with a magnificent view of Bass Lake. Fun rock gardens at the end of the trail below giant moss-covered boulders take you to the creek at the end of the ride. This trail is challenging, rewarding, and beautiful, guaranteed.
Optional Ride: Technical and steep terrain is on the opposite side of the creek. There will be a small amount of hiking in order to reach the top, and a short and challenging ride down.

    Sunday: TBD

    haven't heard much?

Any more info? How about local accommodations? How can a person get there? Will these places handle a large group? Only two posts?

                UPDATE:
Sunday: This day will be dedicated to sightseeing and casual riding on the valley floor of Yosemite National Park. There are lots of flat trails to ride, and depending on how everyone is feeling, we will determine how long we will ride. Lunch can be packed beforehand, but there are also several restaurants all around (fairly expensive). This would be a beautiful conclusion to the weekend. (:

                  *NEW INFO*

UPDATE: Akira and I drove up to the second section of 007 and rode it down to the first section to the Central Camp Road parking lot. We drove a little farther up the road and were surprised to discover a foot of snow before the third section. Winter is just beginning, and there will be more snow and rain coming in the near future. March is VERY unpredictable weather-wise, so we will see what can be ridden or not. Hopefully, the first and second sections will be clear to ride.

Also, we were thinking if anyone wanted to ride more after, we'd drive from Central Camp Road parking to the base of Chepo Parking. Riders will be shuttled a short distance up a dirt road to the base of a fantastic boulder playground. Riders will section this as long as they'd like, then ride down the dirt road near the end of the day (then go back to their hotel and get cleaned up for dinner, location TBD).

                  Thank you! See you there!

The weather will determine what we will ride or not, so be prepared for anything.

                    HOUSING:
My uncle owns a B&B, less than ten minutes away from the trailheads we will ride. This is a wonderful way to support locals and to connect with other riders. This is a 2 bedroom, 3 bed, and 2 bathroom house. If multiple riders are comfortable staying here together, this is a great option. If people are also okay with sleeping on the couch and on the floor in sleeping bags, more can stay here. Website below:
